Where's my baritone/euphonium squad at!?!
Story of my life!
"You're in band? What do you play?"
-"Euphonium"
"What is that?"
-"Looks like a tiny tuba"
"....Still don't know what you're taking about."
T_T
I speak for all euph players when I say DAMN Boiiiiiiiiii
I play euphonium and I absolutely love my instrument. David Childs is the best euphonium player I have every seen. David you are an inspiration.
Euphoniums should get more recognition.. the instrument is the best of the lowbrass
I gained MAD respect at 4:10 when he started doing the small trills sounds AND the bass bumps. Non-brass kids will never understamd the difficulty
@@libertariancapitalistyou clearly haven't held a baritone before
@@libertariancapitalist well then I guess you're just pretentious.
OOOH I live for this! Euphonium is given little to no credit. There are countless times when I've been asked what I play because my mouthpiece is on the table and they either guess Trumpet or Tuba and I have to control myself to not choke them. Let's go Euphoniums (or baritones stfu).
@@mooron394 ha ha did i trigger you my little snowflake?? Get a sense of humour or leave things to those that do
@@MUCKER1314 I wasn't serious but obviously a master comedian wouldn't be able to tell
oh god. its been 10 years since ive heard the sound of a Euphonium and i never realized how much ive missed playing until now. Sir your performance brought me to tears.
Wo duag. Sete nib nuet siriy sinis bia dure hud nuas bu ya Euphonium Duna Ya huben sialayir uah tusum bia disim niyalo
Listen to his Dad Bob play the same piece, was even better in my humble opinion!!
Triple touging and multiphonics, at the same time, this guy is an euphonium god.
Go euphonium
it is the best brass instrument ever
Zaster I'm sorry, did you just say that the euphonium, baritone, and tuba are all the same instruments?
ManEating Gnomes no, I meant that if you can play one, it's easier to get the hang of another
@@phatcok4569 horn is objectively the worst of the common brass instruments. In order it goes:
Trombone
Baritone
Trumpet/Cornet/Flugelhorn
Euphonium
Tuba
Horn in F
I play marching baritone and euphonium and those are amazing instruments. He is amazing at what he does and that's for sure.
its always so hard to explain the Euphonium when you don' have it on you
This is why Euphonium players are the best brass instrument...best instrument in general!
I am overwhelmed! THAT was a great Job.
Probably the best Euphonium solo Play I ever had the honor to hear.
Honestly, never gets old. I miss playing. 😢
omg i still love this video even tho ive seen it about a hundred times x.x
Anyone who gave this a "thumbs down" must be some kind of anti-euphonium zealot...let me guess...trumpet players? Flute players? Timpanists? Kazoo aficionados? You guys always *were* jealous of the single BEST instrument in the band! ;-)
Phenomenal...omg so good. And makes it look easy.
#SEMPER FIDELIS #QUA PATET ORBIS #JE MAINTAN DRAI ! ♫♪ great ♫♪♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO @/bisbis 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding! Compliments! #SEMPER FI #QPO #JMD🎵🎼🎼🎶🎵🥁🎺👌👌🙏🙏🎺
Was just showing my coworker this as an illustration on how the Euphonium is played, as I played it in High School years ago. Mr Childs is insane! A delight to hear him play!
This guy is an insane player. Im decent at euphonium and have been playing for about 5 schools years now but im not even close to this guy's incredible skill!
4:15
"Wait, is he... Oh man, he's playing two parts at once. What the hell, man."
Awesome indeed!! I love it! God's gift, infinite practice, and there it is...
David plays with such class and style and has a great stage presence. He makes the euphonium sing!
I have been playing the euphonium for about 2 years and my teacher always says when I struggle to play a piece that even David Childs was at the level I am at now at some point and I find that hard to believe.😃
+Aimee Guest It's true! I've been playing euphonium for 20 years, and trumpet for 10 years before that. And while I'll probably never be at the level David Childs is at, I'm still a pretty good player. But when I started out, I didn't sound nearly as good and struggled at times. All it takes is practice.
euphgeek any tips to improve performance? I am a freshman in high school and have been playing since fourth grade, but I hope to greatly improve in coming years? Any general tips or tricks to improve things like range or endurance?
I PLAY EUPHONIUM! IM ONLY 13! HAIL TO EUPHONIUMS
@@samrs2010 I sure did! I am 20, and am a junior euphonium performance major in college :)
David Childs ummmm my source of inspiration. I enjoy the way you play the euphonium. The best
Euphonium... beautiful... :')
Get out the way trumpet and sax, Euphonium is best.
sax wasn't even in this lol. I'm trumpet player and I can say baritone is a pretty lit instrument. I don't know abut the best though ;)
Those jumps at 4:18 tho
The Rainbow Cat that's not triple tonguing. It's all slurred except for the accented notes
He's referring to the jumps in pitch though, which was INSANE coupled with the speed!
He truly is a master musician and made that look effortless. I'm good, he's great. Wonderful solo piece!
Anyone want to know my opinion? Stop arguing about the instruments and just admire the beauty they ALL have to offer!!
THIS SHIT IS DOPE AS FUCK!
Your comments are crude and unasked for. I bet you Mom is real proud of you
i love how they always told us NOT to puff our cheeks when we were learning, but there goes a profesional euphonium player puffing his cheeks..
this is a series of concerts in the uk called "the proms". concert take place at multiple venues, some outside, some inside
I love this song. He is the best person that i've heard play this song. I want to play like him some day.
all i think when I hear this is Fred Dibnah
Well I agree to you esteratelescu that singing this would be very difficulta and I even think that it would be impossible to do it :D, but playing this is also very difficult :D:D P.S Got it? :D
david childs is so awesome
This is such a fun song to play, and I always love hearing a good euphonium solo. Boy do I miss playing mine.
damn.. left me speechless. I've been playing the baritone since sixth grade. I'm 21 and haven't played since 12th grade. I miss playing :(
Abel Aguilar Its kinda funny. We try so hard in school for band and arguably more time and effort than in individual subjects in school yet dont pursue careers in music. This for majority of school students not everyone.
Euphoniums,so over rated...said no living person ever. . .
I myself as a trumpet can say that the trumpets are a little overrated and should be given credit to baritones. because baritone is lit.
Here here! I myself am a Baritone player and feel we deserve a little more credit as we get very much over looked
Wooo! Euphonium for the win! I myself am in my third year of playing Euphonium, And I find it extremely enjoyable. I just hate how most people think all instruments are so simple- Like, they think Percussion is just hitting things, and the rest of the instruments are simply blowing into a hole.. They couldn't be more wrong.
BLACKIE16491 The euphonium is the most beautiful voiced of ALL brass instruments. Soft and mellow when needed and strong and authoritative when needed. No other brass instrument is so versatile !
Oh my goodness. That guy is my idol.
Beautiful!
The euphonium sound is so rich and pure!
Very dark and rounded! :))
I am playing ephonium
What an brilliant rendition, this man is very special.
Can't get enough of this.
I'm playing this solo for solo and ensemble and I'm going to state after getting a one by memory and I'm a sophomore in highschool xD
That's awesome I'm going to play this for my band director or with him!! I'm a freshman in high school! But I am very proud of you for stepping up and playing something advanced, even though I don't know you. I know you will do great!!! Good luck!! :)
TheHalodude1232 if just seems as though it'd get tiring on the fingers
either that Euphonium doesn't project for shit or he's playing hilariously quiet for a solo performance
Idk how trombones project, seriously it is insanely difficult to get my euphonium to sound remotely as loud as the trumpets or trombones
@@jennatulls9225 Another thing is that since the air goes through more tubing than say, a trombone, there's a lot more resistance when trying to play loud.
Let's get this baby to 1 million!!!
Euphonium for life.
高校生の頃何回も聞いたなあ〜笑
久しぶりにおすすめに上がってきて懐かしくなりました😂
This guy came to my daughters high school and she onlt has great things to say about him :)
first of all david childs is my hero......he is the main person that has inspired me to continue playing the euphonium........secondly i definitely don't appreciate the rude comments about the euphonium....its a wonderful yet uncommon instrument because people don't have the balls to play it....i'm the only euph player in the wind symphony at my high school because all the others that played quit because they didnt have what it takes to play the euph
I am delighted-a bravura performance!
OMG I was there.. It was fantastic, brilliant and very cold when the sun went down.. but what a fabulous evening... Fan-taz-ma-gor-ical... *grinning like a Cheshire cat now * I evfen heard myself whopoin' at the end.. Tee hee ...:0)x
I am a Euphonium player, and was looking for this arrangement for my senior performance, youtube community help me out!
I play euphonium, and whenever I don't feel like practicing, all I have to do is listen to David Childs play. I wish I could play like that!
such a great tone:) never heard it better!!!
He's a musical genius. This is fantastic.
Wow! Virtuosic. Fantastic!.
Great job! Thanks for posting.
I love that he doesn't just play, he performs.
I am a Bone main but I have recently got my own John Packer Sterling silver 274 and I love playing it in my community concert band SACWE! Playing Molly on the shore and Auguries of innocence this block! :)
Wauw.. Its beautiful!! Great!!!
I saw a couple awesome college students (I'm sure at least one of them was in college) perform the Carnival of Venice on euphonium and it was so awesome I had to listen to it again.
Bravo, magnifico, grazie
This guy is amazing, by far the best euphonium player I've ever heard
I have had the pleasure of meeting Bowman. David and Brian are right up there with each other now. Being that David is young....I can't imagine him any better than he is now. He still many decades of his career left. David will probably end up being the best EVER.
Had only heard this on the trumpet. Splendid.
what a great sound!
Euphonium for the win!
holy cow! thats amazing
AMAZING!
This guy is AMAZING!!!
That is exactly what I say word to word
truly, there is no best euphonium player, they all rock, like Childs, Mead, Tropman, etc. all of them are amazing.

I play euph, it's my favourite ever instrument and this guy is truly amazing
woot go euphoniums!!!! we rule!!
perfect!!!
Wow!!! I'm profoundly impressed with this one... #tothestudy
I play the euphonium and he is the best player I have ever heard
amazing
speechless.😮
I play Euphonium and played a simplified version of this song for judges when I was just barely 12 years old. I'm 13 now and playing College level pieces and this still blows my mind!
i like his dynamique and musically!
good god i love my euphonium more than i already did!! :D
@theothercanadian
Good Point.
I was ranting rather than thinking back to Holst's love for the beautiful instrument.
Thanks for that!!! :-D
nice tone and sound quality very well done technique, he really deserves to be a professional
Like if this is what you get all the time from being a euphonium player:
"What instrument is that?"
"A euphonium"
"Whats that?'
"It's like a small tuba.."
baby tuba
Every time.
Legit put this on my letterman
Or a bigger version of the Neo tenor horn.
It’s not recognized enough. Should be more mentioned than most other solo instruments
