32. Drupla Sonam Tsering: The Faults of Samsara Part Three: The Sufferings of the Cold Hells

Translations below Besides the eight burning hells and neighboring hells, sentient beings with negative karma could also be reborn in the eight cold hells. In this session, Drupla goes through all the details of the sufferings in each of the cold hells. And it’s even more terrifying when we know that beings in cold hells have to endure as much suffering as beings in hot hells, but their life span is much longer.
If beings are lucky enough to escape the hot or cold hells, they may still find themselves in painful situations in the minor hells due to their previous bad karma.
For the rest of the session, Drupla continues to talk about the sufferings of the pretas. Although pretas’ environments are not as horrible as the hells, their descriptions still sound like hell to human beings - their main problem is they are constantly suffering from unimaginable thirst or hunger.
To conclude, Drupla reminds us about the importance of contemplating all the sufferings he teaches. This practice will create weariness about samsara in our minds, which is an excellent factor to help us cultivate renunciation.
