    😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Be careful when attendant comes out. Make sure they reset the pump, some won’t and then you get a fill up plus you get charged for the person that filled up before you. Mostly this happens in mainland Mexico but it can happen in Baja. Great video.!

The large cacti you saw are cardón cactus, aka, the Mexican giant cactus. It is only found in Baja and in the Sonoran Desert. They are related to the saguaro cactus that is very visible in Arizona in the US but no other state.

All I know about Baja street food-Fish Tacos!!! If you order tortillas they will automatically give you flour so be sure to ask for “maiz” if you want corn. The beef is much chewier than the American beef because it is very lean. The gas station toilets are famously hideous. My favorite tourist spot was an art colony on the Pacific side west of La Paz.

We've never had anything taken out of our van in mexico. I won't recommend boondocking in desolate places though. It's common practice to overnight at a gas station if you can't make to your destination by dark.

I grew up going to Ensenada 2-3 times annually 1950s-1973. Was a great time for a kid. Estero Beach Resort and the next door a bit north, El Faro campground. Ate at the long gone Ensenada Cafe which was directly across the street from the famous Husson's Cantina bar. So fun. Mom used to watch the floor show at the Bahia Hotel from the big picture window in front on the street for free. Folkloric dancers and great music. Oh the fun times. Only drawback to the city is the odor of the harbor sea creatures and some sanitary issues in the hinterlands. Last visit was a cruise from Los Angeles that stopped in the port and that was about 20 years back. Safe travels and yes, plenty of road blocks on the way on highways.

I think the reason you don't want to drive at night is because of the "topes". Giant speed bumps that go all the way across the road. How to ruin your suspension in one fell swoop!! Can't see them until you are on top of them, at night. I went as far as Rosarito Beach once, to buy some medicine over the counter that was horribly expensive in the U.S. when i had lyme disease.

I like your videos but if you could show the road you're traveling on while you narrate it would be better as I know by now what you look like. Would make it more interesting for ppl as they want to see the actual countryside you are traveling on even if it might be flat and boring at that point.

Love it but aaarrrrgg you're making me really jealous now and getting 'ants in my pants' to get over to America again. I would love to drive all the way down to the tip of Chile. I met a German who did it from Alaska all the way down at a Seabridge meeting way back. Apparently you need engine mods to get over the high Andes.... Can't begin to think what the roadside drops would be like? BTW I loved seeing peoples' faces on my trip, when I told them my Ford Transit RV did 33mpg on a run!!!! Assume you get similar reactions? (gave you a plug link on my FB page)

Ha Ha - yep that is one of the reasons I love Trudy - she is not you average stereotypical expedition vehicle - which I think makes it more fun, more challenging and more adventurous !! Thanks for sharing and We can't wait to take Trudy to Japan next !! woo hoo 😉🚐🌺

@@TREADtheglobe LOL.. yeah 3 Canadians tried to buy my Chausson of me for cash!!! I wouldn't part with it for the world. 230,000km now and still purring like new. I have a friend in Sweden who has the same model Fiat as Trudy. We are always bickering about whether Ford or Fiat are best. I've sent her the link to your channel. She'll love the fact that you've travelled much further round the world than me .

Hi Jim - yep we have a lifesaver Jerrycan so can usually drink water anywhere - unfortunately due to the salt content in the water here lifestraws / lifesaver etc don't work - but great tip 😀

For a couple of reasons - firstly because we are meeting friends in Loreto and it looks fabulous to visit. And secondly we are planning on coming back to film in Mexico when we do the Journey south to Argentina - we are on this challenge driving around the world - so we are shipping from LA to Tokyo 😉🚐
