I have been asked for this information on several occasion, hope you can enjoy the outdoors with this information! Tell me where your watching from!
Fleece! I'm from Florida and run hot so I bought cotton hoodies instead not realizing that fleece dries quicker. Makes sense!
Cotton hoodies are fun but fleece is where it is at! Gotta stay warm and dry!
We are planning a move with 5 kids so this is HUGELY helpful. Thank you.😁
I am so glad you found it! Where are you moving from??
@@ThisAlaskaLife near Reno. 😊
All my children are grown & gone, so I'm not in need of the gear any longer. We lived up in the south/eastern side of Washington State where it got very cold and snowy...nothing like alaska. We are talking 20+ years ago. For warmth (elementary school) I had my kids wear tights underneath their pants, it worked! And when they went to play in the snow, we put bread sacks over their socks, this worked also!
Sounds like you made it work just great. We use snow gear so often that it is my part time job to make sure everyone is outfitted in proper attire. LOL
That was so informative, the weather in England is just crazy now. Unfortunately what we class as winter clothing is really not fit for anything other than to look good. I will definitely be getting many of the thing's you have mentioned. So looking forward to not freezing every time you go outside. Sending love 💞
Yes!! I am from the Caribbean and will be traveling soon to Alaska. I had to check information for clothing and gears because my notion of winter clothes is what I've seen in movies from England and New York which is sooo fashionable and pretty.
Thanks Lauren. Great info!
Thanks Jackie! You’re so kind. I hope some people find this that need it!
thank you thank you thank you... you may be saving lives...
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank you! The Extratuf cutoffs was a great take away for me! Planning a Anchorage trip. Thanks again.

I live in my xtratuff cutoffs!
So update! I’m in Anchorage, and just picked up the cutoffs! But the beefed up version. Just wanted to say thanks again for your video
THANK YOU so much for this video. I am moving to Glennallen, AK from Fort Worth, TX to work in the school there. It's currently 108* here in Texas so it's been difficult for me to imagine what I will need for Alaska. Your video was so detailed and friendly and informative I feel soooo much better about coming up. My new adventure starts Thursday!
Love learning about this stuff. Being in the southern states of the lower 48. Also have had many church friends who have lived in AK and love to hear about their time up there.
Thank you so much, glad you found it interesting! I am sure your friends have lots of great stories, so many different things to do up here. Thank you so much for watching!
Lauren great educational video. I am surprised someone hasn't asked you to be a salesperson for hunting gear. You know so much about everything that you need. Great job.. 💕💜❤️
Headed there in 3 weeks!!! HELPFUL!!!
You rock! Thank you for taking the time to make this, I am sure it will help lots of people.
You’re welcome! I hope you found some good tips. I tried to be thorough but there are always things I forget so let me know if you have any questions!
Mums: "its so hard getting out the house with kids"
Lauren: "You have no idea" 😆😆
Golly gosh that adds a whole new meaning to laundry!! I cannot imagine trying to wash, dry and store so many items ld be super paranoid if an item got put away wet then it would smell so bad. You really are a super Mum👊👍
Thank you friend, I am no super mom but do try to keep the kids busy. Thankfully we have a heater room to dry everything out but that doesn’t mean the things always make it in there and there are lots of tears when gloves are wet and we are trying to run out the door. Hope your doing well! ☀️
Wow, that's a lot of gear. But, much better to have what you need for the climate so you can enjoy life comfortably and safely. I am always curious when you say it's hot. What temperatures do you consider hot in Alaska?
Great video, thanks! We are vacationing in AK this July, coming from very hot Arkansas, this is helpful for knowing what we might need. It wasn’t in your video; is there ever a need for shorts or tank tops? We’re flying and I’m trying to keep us all packed in one backpack each to prevent bringing any carry ons, so want to filter out any superfluous items 🙂
Thanks for sharing your life and family, love watching your videos!
Shorts, yes. Tanktops, maybe. Layers are key. If you are used to HOT, it is not likely that you will want a tank top because it never gets really hot. You just want to be able to put on layers and take them off according to the weather. Rain jacket and a fleece are a must!
You are amazing.Thank you
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for being here.
Best clothes packing video I've seen. Thank you! We're headed to Alaska in our campervan, arriving in Tok July 4! We bought LL Bean raincoats. They keep us dry for sure. But they're thin. Hoping they work over the fleece!
Glad it was helpful! I was just thinking I need to make a new one to give just summer packing tips. You are going to have a wonderful trip!!
This is the one thing I don’t miss about AK!
It’s a lot to deal with!
Also just subscribed! Such a helpful video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Hello, thanks for the information. We are going to Alaska for aurora borealis view. You get me a lot ideas for winter gear. And for bra and panties what fabric should be the best. I get hot easily Menopause . I know cotton is good for panties but in this case with layers what would be the best option?
Straight up like if it's -60 out wtf do you wear?? Like i'll be in a base layer, two sweaters, a hoodie, a down jacket, a carhart and a raincoat and freeze my ass off in 15F
Hey thanks for the time and effort you put into this. Super helpful.Im from California and ill be working on a tug boat in anchorage. Would you happen to have a proper written list so I can find it on line? Again thank you for your help. Can't wait to be out there.
That is a great idea. I will work on getting a list made on my website and will let you know when it is there.
Thank you! I was hoping for this as well. I'm planning a 2 week cruise to Alaska next year and I live in Sunny Southern California. :O
I want to be as prepared as possible! :)
PS what a wonderfully informative video. Thank you for sharing this information
@@nikkij4873 I am so glad you found it helpful. This was created with people moving to Alaska in mind but all the same, information applies for visiting. I think I will put it on my list of videos to make in the winter, what to pack for your trip to Alsaka.
@@nikkij4873 Thank you and thank you for taking the time to comment!
