You have no idea How long i have looked for a video that shows the position of the Crank sensor... A simple thank you may not seem enough but i am grateful. Not even Bme/Benz mechanics found it. Gosh! Will Work on my car tomorrow
If you remove the pollen filter, there is a cover around master brake cylinder held by two plastic turn screws, easy to remove, then just reach down and undo bolt holding sensor, no need to remove anything else, changed mine in fifteen minutes.
If your having trouble like I did for a few hours, make sure to remove the vacuum reservoir in order to see the sensor... it's just one nut to remove, and the Allen bolt was a 5mm, pain in the ass to take off but once mine was off I noticed a crack with oil coming out on the top of my sensor, hopefully a new one will start my car!
Is this what a DIY by Marcel Marceau looks like? You got the location wrong my friend. The Crankshaft postiion sensor is located under the starter motor!
hitty9 What's the difference? I ask because I am having trouble. I keep internet searching for Crankshaft Pulse Sensor for my 95 M3 and it keeps turning up results for Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Asukaholo Swag you never want to buy sensors on eBay especially for BMW. BMWs are programmed to work for certain sensors and if you get one that doesn't comply with the computer it will not work trust me. Germans made the bmws that way just to be assholes
Ill tell you this for free, if you changed that sensor to alleviate problems with rough running, you should also look at that rip in the intake pipe after the maf sensor
im trying to understand why i see ppl continuing to try and remove the crank sensor from the top when it appears easier to remove from the bottom. is it that ppl don't know they can remove it from the bottom? IJS
When I see this video and see the guy who is struggling to install a sensor, I realize that bmw is not for me. It takes just under two minutes to replace a crankshaft sensor on a Mercedes' class.😁😉
+Thomas Begen The difference is about 4 hours work I think... Crankshaft position procedure is to jack up the car, remove the splash guard, and replace the sensor (it's right by the starter). This one looks like a nightmare compared to the other... had me worried there for a minute!

Protip! Take front wheel of and change the sensor from underneath. It takes about 20 min and it is easy job.
explain ive tried 3x I can't see shit with my XI front differential in my way and its shaft
And I've read 800 people crying about how hard it is. Now getting that clip to release is another story..
This guy does a great job with his camera.
i agree with jreeve1979, nice little tear right under where the little pipe join mass air flow pipe, I've just had to repair on mine.

Mine is E46 318i 2002...right hand drive UK.....same location?...
Why did you have to change the crank shaft sensor?
Great video. Does anyone know where the crankshaft sensor is on a 2006 BMW 750i?
check google images :)
misfire or rough idle
Thanks!
this fixed code p0335 in my e46

@@dasein9980It's the same thing - crankshaft position sensor is the crankshaft impulse sensor
Its' not the Vanso thing it the DISA Valve.
what fixed the problem, i got a 01 e46 and its not starting, i just bought a crank sensor over ebay, and camsensor

I also noticed that xd
Who said that It was going to be easy.... I found it to be easier from under the engine.

How the hell did you seat it in flush with the o-ring on so easily?? Ive been trying for fucking hours and cant get it in😐
Lol i paid 600 euro’s at the garage for them to replace that goddamn sensor!
His arm is like 4' long!
That's the DISA and likely not related to VANOS.
bear24paw ! * ! * ! Mine was shot, didn’t even know it

Are u fucking kidding me this is taking 2 days now its rusted i unbolted but cant get it out im at wits end
PB blaster. It’s a oil to deep into bolts
I believe this is the CAMSHAFT Position Sensor not the CRANKSHAFT Position sensor.
CRIS G What is the difference? I ask because I'm having trouble figuring this out!

Glen Starrett You're at least half right. It's not necessary to jack up the car but it's much more involved.
+CRIS G the camshaft sensors are on where the VANOS is this is where the Crank Shaft is therfore this is Crankshaft sensor
CRIS G
No, this is definitely the crankshaft sensor.
