    Most kiteboarders that make the trek south to the sun-filled, sandy beaches of Mexico head to the usual hotspots like La Ventana or Playa del Carmen. However, the best sessions often happen off the beaten path. If you’re ready to explore a more authentic side of Mexico, you’ll love the quiet beaches, steady breeze, and local vibes in Progreso.
    This hidden gem in the Yucatan is skimpy on all-inclusive resorts and wild parties, but chock-full of friendly locals, rich history, and incredible nature - both above the ground and below. It's easy to forget just how big Mexico is… But to give you a sense of the vastness of this country, we're way out east on the Yucatan peninsula, about 1,800 miles east of La Ventana and a few hours west of Cancun.
    As a kiteboarder, Progreso may not have made it across your radar. We had no clue what to expect from this spot until we began planning our trip to visit Angel and the team at Yuckite - the local kiteboarding school. That said, we went and collected as much intel as we could to share with you!
    Here’s everything you need to know to get you started on your trip to Progreso - starting with the kite spot details followed by some travel tips to help you make the most of your trip.

    Hi guys! I'm gonna travel to Yucatan soon. A few minutes ago I found out there are kiteboarding classes. I was wondering, do you recommend to take a class there if I've never done? I really appreciate if you answer that. Great video!!

    Crystal is looking gooD! Sink holes freak me out. (Certified Tri-mix diver X-( Any waves in Progreso? Got me a quiver (um.. like 2) 2018 North Neos. Switching from Core cuz Core is too Xpensive in the U.S. Plus Neos better. (Well at least prettier)

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  Před 6 lety

      I can't vouch for Core as we don't use them but we love the Neo here! They do have waves there albeit, not large or powerful. They are created by the wind and often choppy. You could still have a lot of fun with a kitesurf board. They also make good kickers! We had a lot of fun at this spot! - Rygo

      Haha I'm a Divemaster and totally freaked out about the idea of diving without an overhead air source - so caves are a no go! These were sooo relaxed and not intimidating at all. I'd definitely recommend it if you're ever in the area.
      P.S. Neo's are definitely pretty :D Looking forward to seeing you shredding them out on the water!

    What is the % of days with at least a few hours of wind >=15 knots during high season?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  Před 6 lety +3

      Hi Gal, I used ikitesurf for the data. our wind by season is on the scale of 1 - 10. I simply took the average days above 15 knots for the months that make up that season. So 7 = 70% of the days are 15 knots or more. Some months on this location lacked data so we confirmed with the locals as well. - Rygo

    Crystal. Everything about progreso looks great. But I’m having a hard time convincing my wife that it’s safe. Any thoughts or suggestions?
