Pioneer TS-W312D4 in Basic Aero-Ported MDF Wedge Box

- Hello friends, it is been a long time since my last video upload and today here's a quick build video of a very basic ported MDF wedge-shaped box. I apologize for not so prompt in regularly uploading fresh video because local customers already found me and the works are non-stop, literally. After all, we all need to work our a$$es off to make ends meet. So I thank all the loyal customers who put their 100% trust on me.
So back to the show, subwoofer is an entry-level Pioneer TS-W312D4 12" subwoofer model in the Philippines and South-East Asia. While model number TS-W1212D4 for consumers in India and Pakistan or perhaps the rest of the world. It has dual 4 Ohm voice coils and can only be wired down to 2 Ohm, perhaps add another one to get a final 1 Ohm impedance and of course to showcase a sicker dual subwoofer and will flash nicely inside car trunks!
Aero port tube is a 4" PVC plumbing pipe manually flared using fire from kitchen stove. Dimensions are provided by the customer to make use of the available space in his vehicle so please bare with the general appearance.

I have a new Pro audio subwoofer 18" it has slapping sound when i press the dust cap while power off there is no rubbing against the coil i tried to play 5Hz in my sub and there is slapping noise but when i hold the tinsel lead the noise disappears I only here the noise when I do free air but inside the box the bass is loud and I cannot hear the possible tinsel lead slap. What should I do with my subwoofer ?

I made a sealed 30 litre box and put a Peerless XLS 10 in my car it’s awesome. The installer thought it was a 12 “ . tight bass

Hi, at 2.40, are those screws removed after your affix the ,,,what's their name, bolt with teeth parts, then the screws go back into those but securing the speaker?. They're for ensuring that screws don't chew out the MDF? thanks.

I have two of these so I am going to wire it down to 1 ohm what amp should I use for wattage 800 or 1000 watt?
Get at least a 1500w RMS that is 1 Ohm stable.

I suggest to get another subwoofer that is more powerful than this.

Goodnight. I've seen some videos of you with the Pioneer 311. People talk a lot about the old 306, 307 and 308 gave more subbass. in your opinion, are they better than the ts w311?
Hello Doug, what I've gotten so far was the W311 a couple of years and now the W312. The W312 is the newest version of their trademark "Champion Series". Those subwoofers are just enough for daily listening and were designed to be matched with low powered amplifiers. Not really for loud applications.
@@chrclmnky OK. I thought you had already installed the famous ts w305 or ts w306 or ts w308. These 3 say they were better than the 311. This 312 is still no match for the 311. Thanks my friend.

Those are the best fasteners that bite ther way into the bottom of the wood “t-nuts” there real cost effective 50 for like 10$ maybe 15$ depend what size you get and rubberized undercoating inside to seal off the wood so it does not absorb any of the sound . I usefully put paint n 1st like cheap brush paint,primmer, any old can of spray or brush as long as it’s good slather a good coat of that on then after drying it. Good coat of rubberized undercoating seal it off also I use silicon caulk with a floor tile grooved spreading tool with the fine teeth make sure all the wood is coated with the silicone caulk use the fine teeth speader go over like one side at a time wrapping it but when done the carpet may get wet but the whole box has a silicone membrain around it so it’s water proof so no swelled up wood no chance of mold or mildew do to damp conditions in a vehicle and get a stain or dirty carpet shampoo it clean nd the box stays dry I did it because we go 4 wheelin box is behind the seat of trucks raining window down mudding so yeah blew the ends out of a few boxes from swelled wood and stinking wood did not know what that smell was until the box came apart hope to help in building r giveing ideas great bo looks killer was always a pioneer fan !

Is the simple ported cabinet you made in this video better or the DIY L-ported cabinet?
No difference. Will work just fine. Aero or L ports are the same. Don't worry about things.

just bought an enclosure for my 312d4 and the enclosure dimensions are Height 13" width 19" depth is 25" round port Diameter 4" length 12" is the depth too big?
Yes, depth would be just about 16

My d12d4 enclosure is 2 cubic ft (recommended) with depth being 16.5" and is height is 19" and it hits HAM, plus thrilling lows.

Very nice! I'm designing my first box now. I noticed your port velocity was 124 ft/sec at 700w. Is this not too much? How much port velocity is too much? Also why 700w? Isn't this a 500w RMS sub?

Yeah should be about just 300w rms real sub power limit. And porr velocity was calculated for ouput power of 700w to see headroom.
