Thanks for posting this. My above range Samsung microwave did the same thing today. Its probably about 5 years old. Its never done that before. I didnt know a microwave would even do that. You learn something new every day. I thought the microwave was shot. I'm selling my house right now and don't want to buy another one. Many thanks!

I had noticed the heat. Found out my wife hadn’t even turned on the fan. It’s an automatic safety feature. Glad I don’t have to but a new one. Thanks for the video!

I got into a similar issue where the microwave kept running and even after unplugging for 20min and putting it back it still did the same noise but as in the video Joseph says wait for 30 min and it will stop by itself and yey!!! It’s true it made the miracle … I’m so happy … by head was spinning was not able to take that sound … now it’s peaceful 😇… thank you sir for making this video… very helpful

THANK YOU!! I left the door to my microwave open over night and the light on top felt warm to touch. The fan would run and the plate would turn when I shut the door. I waited for mine to cool off about 10 - 15 minutes and it still turned on when I shut the door. I thought for sure it was a bad door switch. I went on with my day and watched many videos then I saw this! It had been about 2 hours scince I unplugged it so I went back over and plugged it in and it was normal again. You saved me money and a call to my landlord. :) I am new subscriber!

Thank you so much! You are a life saver! It worked! I don't know why I didn't think about just unplugging the microwave.

My microwave did this for the first time today as I was cooking some things in the oven. The outside temp is hot today and I am guessing the combination of heat from outside and the heat from the oven caused this to turn on. My suggestion is to NOT UNPLUG your unit. They most likely put this feature on these units to protect internal systems in the microwave from getting too hot. By unplugging the unit you may cause the internal temperature of the microwave to get too high and diminish the life of your appliance. I let mine run and it did turn off on it's own after about 30 mins. This was, of course, after I stopped using my oven, so things cooled down.
My other suggestion is any time you are cooking substantial amount of food and/or if you are using the oven, turn on the vent fan to at least MED. This will keep air moving out of the hood area and may prevent this AUTO feature from turning on.

Thank you for these Extra tips!! I like the idea of not unplugging it, if the reason it came on was a safety feature! I was boiling water for 15 minute intervals in order to get a boiling hot and I did it several times in a row…. Obviously it was more than the microwave could handle and I had never done it before so it was my first experience overheating my microwave like this.! Anyway, I’m so glad for these helpful comments that I didn’t break my microwave because it was late at night and I was worried that if I fell asleep the house with burn down!! so I’m glad to know it’s a safety mechanism on these machines!! Next time I won’t boil water that many times in a row for 15 minute intervals! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😉

This was VERY Helpful!! I have the Same Problem, it came on after I heard up a lot of hot water several times running 15 mins each time because I really need lots of very hot water! Anyway my fan came on automatically and I thought I broke my microwave! I can’t reach my plug to unplug it, but at least I know it’s normal! Thanks for your helpful video!! I appreciate it!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I FOUNT OUT IT WAS THE LIGHT! I replaced the bulbs from 50w to 100w and apparently the new bulb heats up the sensor and will turn on the automatic fan. Turning off the light solves the problem.

Did you catch the note that a higher wattage bulb could trigger the sensor. Also, a clogged filter would trap more heat. there is a filter trap at bottom, and a filter in the top.

My space maker exhaust fan would turn on intermittently out of nowhere changed the thermostat and didn’t fix it. Keep in mind that it’s 16 yrs old. 36 in wide so I didn’t want to replace it cause they only sell 30 in now. having said that I finally figured it out. The touch panel key that operates the fan was depressed. From shrinkage over time took a hair dryer to it for a minute and that softened up the surface and cured the problem. You will see videos about the ribbon being loose. That ain’t it. Good luck

My microwave also combines with range fan, which is what you use when you cook, and it automatically turns on whenever there's lots of steam coming from the cooking range. This is how I know that microwaves have a cooking sensor, which turns on the fan when there's hear from the stove. Only over the range microwaves havve that though.

    • @pxods

But how do you turn it off

    • @BobbieTheTechGuy
      @BobbieTheTechGuy Před rokem +1

@@pxods It automatically turns itself off after the cooking odors are gone, otherwise, I would unplug it and plug it back in.

Well, that didn’t work when fan didn’t stop. I needed a microwave right away so I bought one over the counter. A year ago now and I tried to do this again, turned it on and the fan is still going at it…!😢
Ideas? …besides giving up on this one?

There is a sensor on the inside bottom of the microwave bc when cooking the sensor will trip to cool the area thats why this happens

  • @lancemacdaddy6152

There junk ..eventually the vent fan starts randomly turning on and off at any time and you cant stop it ! Wyou can unplug to reset the entire machine but eventually it will start again on its own Today the vent system turned itself on 8 x ! Microwave never used and the stove below not used and house is at 60 degrees so no reason for sensor to sense heat and turn it on ..It never turns on at night by itself only in daytime I would not purchase another one of these Samsung microwaves nor any other samsung kitchen appliances again !

GE is not much better. Most appliances these days are designed to last 8-10 years, we have very poor consumer protection in this country so these manufactureres take full advantage of that. I remember when a refrigerator, washers and dryers would last 20 years but those days are long gone.
