if it had reverse, id swap it into my subaru
Terry Tumulty id love to hear the nioses that would create :D
I mean this thing is more reliable than shifting in a wrx
I mean, who needs a clutch anyway, just dry shift that bad boy.
R doesn’t mean reverse
It means race that why when you use it on a highway the police pull you over
By the time you needed reverse you'd already have a head gasket failure
To be honest. The gearbox looks like an engine already XD
AWESOME, compact, functioning and still a challenge to build. This should be added to a lot of big lego technic sets!
+BIOBAY Thanks a lot! Yeah shouldn't it :)
Dgustafsson13 yea I mean, why not??
I'm wondering: gearing things up will make the spinning axle have less force i.e. it is easier to stop it. If the friction becomes to much, nothing will happen. Is this true?
BIOBAY Yes you're completely right if I've understood your explanation correctly. Gearing up an set of gears will give the output axle less torque but increase the speed
So what happens if you turn it around, could you get like a verry slow moving axle with a ton of force which would be much harder to stop with your hands?
thats pretty cool and all but...will it fit in my Honda?
Edit: I really do have a Honda and can confirm, it fits in my glove box just fine.
+SwagBob Thanks! Hmm I don't know🤔
Moog approves
SpongeKnob SquareNuts 5 millon unicorns farting rainbows at once= vtec
Overused joke *BUT*
Mybe can fit in your Honda
nice meme
Some guy on Flickr made a 2JZ-GTE from Lego with working pistons, you made a gearbox. I think you guys should collab and make a huge-scaled Supra with a great number of functionalities)
@@postgibson4160 It's just like the dumb Forinte Supersoaker I bought just for the meme, completely overpriced and overrated. You pay for the brand name because it's licensed but the thing itself sucks for the price you paid. 20€ down the drain in my case.
i suddenly don't feel so proud of my two speed gearbox I came up with, thanks
why is every second comment asking for a reverse? a dc motor gives you six of those too
A lego remote control has a reverse handle right on it soooo....
Yeah it's only the likes of the mighty combustion engine that needs reverse gearing..
No your not completely right. Some people like to build free wheel clutches in between the motor and the gearbox so the wheels don't drive the motor but the motor can drive the wheels. As far as I've seen free wheel clutches can't go backwards so you wouldn't be able to use the reverse feature of the motor and you'd need a reverse gear in you transmission.
@Cako1000... Good modern electric vehicles have a motor per wheel, adaptive all wheel drive they keep on about. so you would need four mini transmissions all with reverse.
Plus I thought that the wheels driving the motors was how they recover energy back to the battery, so that means on top of the transmission for each wheel it would also have to have an some way of having harvesting the energy an alternator of sorts
Wowsers, even just for two wheel drive... thats inefficient and expensive...
I'll stick with my combustion engine lol
RoKn ROLLeR yeah but you can’t make a lego combustion engine, he’s talking about simulating combustion cars with legos.
and when you thought the 6th would be reverse...
YOU'RE WRONG
+J0yb0y 👍👍😜
Why would it have a reverse when you can just use a switch or a infrared controller to make the machine you build this transmission into go back and forth?
@@G31M1 And as an extra function, it's a 6 GEAR REVERSE
Cool! As a kid I always liked the technic gears. People do amazing things with legos now a days.
It runs so smoothly nice work wish I was at home now to build it.
+Josh McLaughlin Thank you!
Really I don't want to repeat myself, but again it's great project 👍👍👍
+Łukasz Rugała Repetition is good, then I'll know if I'm moving in the right direction :) Thank you!
Man i love you and your free instructions, remember that bro. I even subscribed
This looks awesome. This might get me back into building things with lego
I'm going to put this in my lego car!!
+Chris van Vilsteren 👍👍☺
*_how big is your Lego car!?_*
Doge
Front: 20cm
Side: 40cm
Hight: 15cm
Chris van Vilsteren I wanna make a tank with this so it can climb AND be fast
That is my engine
Nice transmission, music is even better!
Omg i love it ! Awesome creation !
+Mattew Skincat Thanks a lot! :)
How have I missed this channel for 5 years?!!?!! His builds are amazing!

That's fine keep up the good work
Super! Great job
Real good one! Wow!
Nice job love ur work
Great job mate! Thank you so much for the instructions!
Thank you as well!
Wher do i get the instructions? Plsss
@@Noah-ij2et theyre meant to be on the website but it takes me to some random page, anyone know how to get the instructions?
I learned some nice things from you for my car :)
+Kelli Geilo That's good👍🙂
Awesome! I can't believe how compact you managed to get it! I don't even think I would be able to get a 4-speed gearbox that compact... ;D
+All About Lego Thanks! Yeah I'm pretty happy with the compact design👍 Actually made it to a 4-speed one first and then added two gears to it :)
Dgustafsson13 :D
awsome architecture
+Yan Liu Thank you😀
I love it!
best gearbox seen so far !!
+Dimitris Akr Thank you😀
4 gears was cool enough but man a 6 gear box! You are the lego god
+creepjax Thank you🙏
amazing! :D
+Ki hyun's Lego Technic Creations Thank you! :)
Excuse me while I go change my pants
Just got my first car, a manual, and I understand now why they are still great to drive. Also stained my undies because of this vid.
That’s incredible
thanks so much for this
I love this so much!
+Misha Mansoor Thank you!
Very nice!
+DJ Luckey Lu Thanks!
Thank you very much for sharing the instructions for free. 😊👍
+MarcLaemmerhirt You're welcome☺
Dgustafsson13 I built it within 15 Minutes yesterday, just missing some gears and the Driving Rings. Do you reckon it's possible to add a reverse gear to this Gearbox? I have an Idea, but need to wait for some parts.
+MarcLaemmerhirt Great! Of Course it's possible, though I left it out to save space👍
Bro you are a GENIE
This man is amazing
+הראל אדאדי Thank you :)
Thanks! I'm going to try and add this to my 9398 crawler that my friend broke when I fix it. I've always wanted to know how to make a gearbox
+MC Donald Sounds cool! Good luck!☺
your chanel is awsome!!!!!
+Jordy Mertens Thank you!
Very satisfying that's it works similar to a Manuel transmission
👍😃
Nice I wish I had one of those
+Gavin Winger Thank you🙂
Awesome, thans for instruction
+Mátyás Poór No problem☺
genius man
Gr8 job 👍🏽
This.Is.Amazing
+Vedran K Thank you!
This design i love because i recognize all the parts.
Awesome!😀
Wonderful job, lad.
impressive
thank you!
Amazing!!!!
Nice gearbox! I made my own one a while ago, I’m now making a 5+R manual transmission. Keep up the good work!
That's awesome! Thanks!
Are you kidding me :D thats amazing :D
+Tomáš Hons Thanks!😃
Incredible
+BrutalKiller93 Thank you!
OMFG so fucking cool!!!! Such compact size can make a damn 6 speed!! Brilliant!
+Brian KongNam Thank you very much!
Nice.
AWESOME!!
+Benny Canfora Thank you!
Soo nice !
+Felix Bauer Thank you!
there should be a part of lego technic where there is sets that are just mechanical functions. A gearbox set. A simple chassis set. A V8 engine set. It would be really cool
I like that idea. Module sets that you can then integrate into other builds.
Nice !
Thanks!
Awesome!
+M4jst3r Thanks!
I built that four speed from the other video and put it into a little awd lego car, it works great!
+Dalton Gosch Great to hear!😀
very cool
+QBA 706 Thanks!
Nice
I am going to put this gear box in my LEGO Kenworth T604 prime mover
THATS DOPE!
+PhantomTnt 👍👍😎
Nice ! :D
+Carier 113 Thanks!
I made my own revers gear too thanks
Alsome nice work
+RC Mania2 Marshy Thank you!
I think make a fan with this
Well, wow.
marvellous
..you are a mechanical engineer
+BRICK boy LEGO Oh thank you! :)
awesome!!!!!!!!
+Kade Brown Thanks!
I bought bricks from brick owl totaling 57$ and some motors and batteries just to build this! I will totally use this in a technic car I plan, keep up the good content!
That's great to hear! Share the result with me if you like once you're finished. Until then I'm wishing you good luck!
Dgustafsson13 it worked like a dream, I would like a reverse gear otherwise it was good
Do you know a lego reverse gearbox with no special pieces like a differential or a sifter ?
I still have a lego car present given to me nearly fifteen years ago. It features a V8 engine with a 5 speed gearbox plus reverse with three diffs. This isn't exactly new. Nice that you figured it out yourself though.
+Sam Kz That's awesome! Thanks☺
cool
Perfect
Thanks!
i designed my 6 speed gearbox im proud of it
ur awesome
+Little Man69 oh thank you :)
a nice challange for you, lets create an automatic gear box 🙂
Anyone can build this.
If they watch this awesome video!
+Scott Reinemeyer And checking out the instructions I've created for it maybe😉
i love it
+jaziel mayoral Thanks!
your welcome
Just. Wow.
круто!!
Tack kompis ;)
+skogsturken 007 👍😉
NEED THAT!!!!!
+TheMizarc1 👍👍😌
SUBSCRIBED 👍
Lego had something like this already, it was only a 5 speed, but it also had reverse.
amazing work, you should see if you could add reverse!
+Okie Thanks! That would be my next challenge for sure
Awesome video man. Question: I have seen some videos where the output shaft becomes faster without stopping first, but in this transmission it stops before going up a gear.. What is the difference between the two transmissions and which one is used in real cars? Thanks!
I can't say for sure until I've seen the other gearboxes you're talking about, but, I guess there's no difference at all for the gearboxes, instead I think it's about how fast you actually shift. I shifted gear slowly in this video to show how it works, and the other one you saw may shifted very quick. The gearbox in a real car works like the one you saw in this video.
FYI might wanna change the parts a bit (gear middle ring) because they are difficult to find now
IM HAVING THAT PROBLEM RN LMAOOO! CANT FIND A SINGLE ONE IN MY TWO BINS OF LEGOS.
Amazing! Great Technique in your Technic (see what I did there). I'm amazed how compact you've managed to make it. This is something I would love to see more of in the official LEGO sets. Thanks for sharing
So glad to hear this! Thank you😀
Great project and so , but i really do miss the clutch
I've built a big off-road car with this gearbox.😃
Great project, wish I had all of the pieces to build it, might order them. Do you think you could bump it up to a 7-speed?
+SidewaysNation - Thank you very much! Of course it's possible to add another gear, though that would also add to the size of it
This guy out here granny-shifting the transmission
I built it, but I have trouble on the 5th and 6th gear. All in all, nice transmission!
where did you get the instructions? the websites read more section in the instructions takes me to some random page
You still have directions available for this? This is extremely impressive
my dreams have been fulfilled :D
unless, 8 speed XP
+The IrrelevanTAKU 👍👍☺
What type of battery pack etc is shown so I can grab one of them too? Looks amazing mate, fantastic work!
