- A little over a year before this video, James Gunn revealed some of the plan for the beginning of his universe called the DCU which revealed ten upcoming projects and in that year we’ve gotten a surprisingly large amount of details regarding these projects and in this video I’ll be going over all those details.

Which is different from simply saying try these unknown characters. A good example of this would be like you ordering all the popular classic dishes of a restaurant then the resturant asking you if you want to try x. And you never had it before but because you liked everything else you're like why not

James Gunn is a miracle worker. He wrote the Legacy script, formed his creative team, picked the perfect cast, and selected his filmmaking team. At the same time, supervising multiple shows. All while continuously gunning down rumors from idiots and keeping fans updated. All done in a year working in a pressure cooker environment.
DC stinks at live action. With the exception of a few of the Batman series, they suck. And even with that as their best franchise, they cannot keep the same actor past three movies. DC SUCKS!!!
Nobody has been cast yet, Gunn stated his casting only comes after scripts are done. What the "casting" that got leaked for superman is a roundtable read, casting proxy actors to read aloud the script for screenwriters/players to get it exactly right. It doesnt mean theyll be in the movie

@@butterstotch3233 I stand corrected and must agree with you re: Wonder Woman, which was outstanding at many levels, including the wise choice to pick WWI as her debut setting instead of WWII of the comic canon. It made her personal struggle to fight through the moral ambiguity of the outside world more compelling going against Imperial Germany of 1871-1918 than if that they had had her go against Nazi Germany of 1933-1945.
But regrettably that was the outlier and DC could not even avoid ruining that run with the insipid sequel. The final verdict does not acquit DC. Not looking for anything good this next round of reboot.

@@dariusporter358 I honestly commend him for keeping a diverse cast while also staying accurate to the comics by bringing on lesser known heroes like Mr. Terrific, hawk girl and bride. I honestly cheered when I heard bride was gonna be the main character of CC since I like the actress and I love the design for her. I am legitimately excited for the DCU
Idk I don't love Fillion as Gardner. Feel like that role should go to someone in their 30s-early 40s.
@@SHMOUSEY86 I somewhat agree but at the same time, it looks like the main lanterns the universe will focus on are Hal and John since they are getting their own project. If Guy is just gonna be a side character they can get away with casting someone older. Plus Fillion doesn’t look that old. With the right makeup he can look even younger.
True, the castings are great. Hopefully the stories and character development of these movies are good, because the MCU has been failing in this regard.

Blue Beetle could return in Peacemaker Season 2. Peacemaker plays a big role in Jaime’s original storyline.

[16:08] Virgil Hawkins being in The DCU gives me hope that this will be a reincarnation of The DCAU. If we get a quality Static Shock live action film, I would send a hand-written letter thanking James Gunn and every credited actor in the film for their involvement with making my dream come to life.

Andy Mushietti directing Brave and the Bold gives me hope. The Flash had some of if not the best Batman scenes in any of the DCEU movies and that’s including the warehouse scene in BVS lol

The Creature Commandos lineup in the show is not a change from the comics. It's a combination of the Flashpoint and New 52 modern-day lineup from Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE. The Creature Commandos have remained in the comics since Weird War tales and had different lineups
My guess is with the Arkham show being DCU is Matt was originally planning under old WB to make it The Batman related but as we know he wants to keep his Batman stories relatively grounded as well as the characters in it. My guess is when he pitched it to James Gunn he tweaked it into the DCU so this way Matt can get to play around with the more fantastical Batman rouges like maybe Man Bat, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, a 10 foot tall Clayface and since DCU Batman is already established it helps build out that Batman’s mytho’s more so they don’t have to do it in The Brave and the Bold. The fact that Matt Reeves is doing his own The Batman stuff AND doing batman stuff for the DCU is amazing and I think a great idea. I’m just really excited to see what James has been cooking.

Im so excited for the DCU. It feels actually planned and with a path and connecting characters and plots. I like how every project has inspiration from actual source material and a vision like arkham having a "horror tone" or supergirl "science fiction epic" to make each project feel distinct but all the while being in the same universe. Im really hoping the DCU succeeds and follows through. But it can all still go to shit and also depends on how much studio suits interference there is 😮💨 DC fan all the way though so hoping for the best for the DCU 🔥

There can’t be an authority story without some form of Jenny Sparks. An idea I’ve heard of that I liked is that Jenny Sparks starts aging after the 20th century as she stopped aging during the 20th century.
I am interested in Supergirl production design. The comic has very imaginative world and color blast. I will love to see how it will transfer on big screen.
I'm happy gunn is putting his a+ directing into superman legacy I can tell he's very passionate about it and I wouldn't have it any other way

Really wished the Robin we were getting in Brave & the Bold was Dick Grayson. Its very important that we see his character's origin, as its not just vital to him but to the Batman character/mythos as well.
I've been hearing a few people wanting Sophia Lillis to be cast as Carrie Kelly's Robin for James Gunn's DC Universe.
That would be a perfect casting if you ask me.

It is Creature commandos will air in fall that would be nearly a year after aquaman 2 and legacy is in 2025
@@yashJoshi-hn6bf I know that but creature commandos should be releasing in 2025, just so audiences/WBD have enough time to understand/market that there’s a new universe at play here. I get they’re not releasing a full fledge movie until 2025 (most casuals would probably skip Creature Commandos) but they should honestly wait Al ittle longer
Not gonna lie, Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman are my 3 favorite DC characters so it does bum me out to have no information on projects about those characters but instead it looks like Gunn is putting focus on unpopular projects like creature commandos, Amanda Waller and peacemaker or on character seen tons of projects on already like Superman or Batman which I’m not going to pretend to care about
I agree with incorporating Wonder Woman and Aquaman because I don't know if you can do a chapter called Gods and Monsters without them. Shazam should get a reboot as well since he got his powers from a god. You also have to remember that this isn't the ENTIRE chapter. I'm sure there's more projects here that haven't been announced yet

Considering he had a movie a couple years ago and has 2 more movies coming up in the next couple of years? I just wanna see these 3 characters get movies in a universe that actually has direction which we haven’t gotten in 4 years by now. I don’t think oversaturation would be a issue especially if you make the flash of the DCU wally west for his live action debut . We haven’t got a Wonder Woman movie since 2020 so I believe she won’t suffer from oversaturation if a movie released in 2024 or 2025. And Aquaman I’ll give you that we did just get a movie on him but I do want to see him in a cohesive universe with actual stakes. That’s more of a selfish reason so on Aquaman I agree with you with.

I really like most of the news here, but starting Robin with Damian is such a mistake. Each Robin’s core concept doesn’t makes sense without the previous one, and having Damian with Grayson and Tim Drake to inherit the mantle from is just sad.
Small correction, Waller wasn’t written by Gunn. It was written by Jeremy Carver
Hope the other charlton comics characters like the question captain atom nightshade and the dude with the robot hand (the name escapes me for the moment) apear in peacemaker season 2.
I think to bring Kyle Rayner in it’ll have to have Hal betray the corps like in the comics cause it’s a pretty vital event in Kyle’s origin, so I’m happy to leave him out for a while

So after many pulling for Nathan to be the most iconic and quintessential Hal Jordan for over a decade now and his also having voiced the character numerous times, he’s going to be Guy Gardner? W in the actual F!
The timeline is Jordan, Gardner, Stewart and Stewart becomes as GL because Gardner gets injured too, so it’s a little weird going this direction.
