What if the MCU Was As Poorly Structured as the DCEU?

- It’s been five years since the Infinity Saga came to an end and it’s already quite clear that since then the MCU hasn’t had as good of a structure to it’s releases or even as good a consistency of quality. That being said, it could definitely be worse, specifically, the MCU could’ve had the structure and average quality of the DCEU. In the past I looked at what the DCEU would’ve looked like if it had the MCU’s structure, this time around I’ll be doing the opposite, seeing what the MCU would look like if it was as inconsistent and as messy as the DCEU. This is something I did a few years ago but that video desperately needs an update both because of it’s quality and because the DCEU has since had a few more releases and has since been capped off as well.

It really puts into perspective how fucked it was, civil war being the second movie and like half the planned movies being canceled
And people say irl civil war wasn't done at the right time, so this universe's discourse on the meu would be even worse. And keep in mind, civil war was one of the most recent comics when iron man came out, it was a gamble comic book fans even liked him anymore. Having that story be butchered like that when everyone just saw it would be a disaster we really haven't seen in a good while
Looking at that original announcement graphic is hilarious. Especially cause people forget they also did at like a company stockholders meeting and not like a movie convention, even though Disney was already doing slate announcements
@claycrawford7 I remember seeing that graphic when it came out and I was like "a cyborg movie? Really?"not to mention the cw flash show premiered AND ended between that announcement and the movie finally coming out.
@@Rav_Ram I wish there was a full slate of whatever they had planned during 2020, cause I guess they were just basing everything around Keaton and it’s kind of a miracle they green lit a Blue Beetle movie as well.
Except BvS and civil war are nothing alike besides two heroes fighting
First of all, do we need ANOTHER goddamn Batman origin movie? People lost their shit just at the OPENING credits of the Wayne’s deaths. Second, this wasn’t about an emotional struggle of two friends. It was about a fallen hero in Batman becoming paranoid about a potential threat in Superman. Like we don’t need a Batman movie to tell us Robin is dead and he’s upset.
If LOTR came out today you’d say “why didn’t we get a stand alone Gimlee and Legolas film?

"A young street rat named Kamala Khan"
Okay.... okay now i get why people hate Birds of Prey. I would be livid too.
It's really not a fair comparison.
Cassandra Cain is a great character, one of my faves of the Batfam, but she's a Batgirl and not even the most well known one. They were never gonna do a Cassie Batgirl.
Plus, the hate was completely unwarranted anyway because aside from that one bad character pick the movie is phenomenal. The amazingly shot action alone makes it a top tier superhero film.
In fairness, while it could’ve been more faithful to its source material, Birds Of Prey was a very good movie, and was an improvement over Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad
@@cantaloupegodling352 understandable, but consider that the assassin backstory is cooler
Cassandra cain in the comics: mute assassin that later joins the bat family as a new batgirl thats tough as nails and not afraid to kill in order to fight her father in a bat suit that has no mouth opening since she cant talk
Cassandra cain in the movie: petty thief who becomes a sort of a protege the Harley Quinn and swallows a diamond and is basically kind of a McGuffin in the movie for an extended poop joke and wears everyday clothing
you decide who's cooler
I mean I enjoyed the movie, but they could of named that kid anything else and it would have changed literally nothing in the film. Heck they could have genderbent a robin and it would have been better received. The fact that they named her after a cool character they were most likely never gonna do the cool thing with them added so much baggage to the movie that it really didn't need from fans.
I think i can understand why Gunn reset the entire universe now....
Only now?

One of these days you’re gonna make a video called “What If the MCU was structured like the Arrowverse?”.
How would do a movie series with a show series?
@@theinsurance2450Aside from using the movies that exist maybe borrow some comic storylines that are closely similar to each season of the Arrowverse respectively. Like how Arrow Season 6 had their version of the Longbow Hunters (I know they weren't called the Longbow Hunters and that was a different team but they're more similar and has bigger roles than the actual Longbow Hunters) a potential Captain America Season 6 could use the Serpent Society. Or the Secret Empire storyline could be their version of the 9th Circle from Arrow Season 7. Or if Iron Man is the counterpart to the Flash in this scenario the Demon in a Bottle storyline could be used in place of Flashpoint since it dealt with the characters trauma.
I would like that.
If you want to use the same character counterparts from this video
Arrow: Daredevil

The Tom Hardy analogy of The Rock was so funny and so true, trying to turn a B List villain into an A List antihero that doesn't want anything to do with his hero counterpart
Make a Marvel version of the Arrowverse
I second that
I third that
I fourth that
I fifth that
I sixth that
I'd like to think that in this universe, Tom Hardy pissed in bottles on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road and insisted on staying at a five star hotel in the city, arriving to set in the desert six or seven hours late.
Instead of feuding with Charlize Theron, he feuds with George Miller, and gets a bad reputation in Hollywood despite being a massive box office draw, which crumbles when his Venom film is released and it flops.
Meanwhile, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson never shaves his head, spends less time in the gym, and thus achieves his true acting power. He is cast in a Sony-produced Black Adam film (with no Shazam) that does amazingly well off the back of Justice League: The Anti-Life War.
But then everything goes to shit once Sony makes "Doctor Sivana" starring Christian Bale, but without Shazam. The movie is a financial disaster and an online laughing stock for months. However, Sony proceeds to make "Lady Blaze", which also turns out to be a huge flop.
The idea of Tom Hardy insisting that Venom will chamge the heirarchy of power in the Marvel Universe is really funny for no reason
*Justice League: Apokolips War, watch the other video
Now that you say that, I think, if anything, Morbius would have been a better equivalent to Black Adam. Think about it:
>Actor is self-obsessed and notoriously hard to work with, yet keeps getting roles
>Character is almost completely irrelevant without his archenemy, who is completely vacant from the movie
>Movie advertises itself as being about a gritty antihero, when it's really just about a slightly edgy hero
>Main villain ends up being a random character no one has ever heard of with a weird and kind of boring fight
Then just throw the Fantastic Four in for no reason and have Captain America show up at the end. Also, I'd kill off Mr. Fantastic instead, because he seems like he'd be the most interesting, and we wouldn't want a more interesting character than Morbius in his movie, now would we?
@@mikejeffries3333 I get all this but it had to be Venom because Spider-Man is the Shazam equivalent, so the Black Adam equivalent has to be a major Spider-Man villain who got their own movie, ergo Venom as he is the "evil" Spider-Man like how Black Adam is the "evil" Shazam

I’m so glad the mcu was structured as it was
I would love to see a video where you do a Marvel Movie Universe where marvel owned all their characters but it doesn’t follow the MCU structure which means iron man, captain America, Spider-Man, x men, and fantastic four and more all have trilogys, you can have tv series and movies at the same time like Hawkeye or Daredevil series during phase 2. And you can go pass 22 films in phase 1-3. Shung Chi, Black Panther and Captain Marvel can appear earlier in the universe.
I’d really like to see what he would come up with for that, along with one like it for DC
Like this comment so he can see this
He already did that
that would be awesome
He did it for the Infinity Saga, but not Multiverse
Blue Beetle was such a weird anomaly that I had to pause the video to think really hard about what Ghost Rider was a counterpart to.
As someone who's always been more familiar with Marvel than DC, having Cull Obsidian be the main villain of the Avengers really puts into focus how wild it was that Steppenwolf was carrying the whole Justice League event.
Is it weird that I actually kind of like the opening premise of this universe's Civil War (Captain America finding a darker Iron Man vigilante)? The Civil War we actually got never felt like anyone was really at risk of dying and this would have some weight to it. It could be a fun What If episode at least (although obviously dumb for the main movie).
The set up for his civil war movie makes more sense than the actual BvS conflict.
That's because the stakes of Captain America: Civil War IRL is less about life & death but more about the team's internal division...
thank god we dont live in a universe where that actually happened.
DCEU is the perfect example of how not to structure a media Universe.
The awful ammount of bad decisions they took and way to address movies' order is sickening.
I'm so glad that at least the MCU was much better in arranging their projects.
Because REALLY, just this video made me imagine things I couldn't ever get over with.
I know you said you stuck with the Peacemaker plot because it’s all original so it’s not DC dependent but since it’s a Marvel equivalent I can’t help but point out how well the Skrulls would fit, being aliens who can impersonate anyone

As someone who is a die hard Marvel/MCU fan, and a casual DC/DCEU fan, this video really put into perspective just how bad the DCEU really was. I absolutely loved The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, the Flash, and Shazam, but that’s really it. This was a fantastic video and I’m glad I finally understand what it was like for DC fans
I think a female group movie with Deadpool would be very on brand, at least Ryan Reynolds Deadpool
Lady Deadpool
Snyder turned nearly every DC Character into an edgy carbon copy of Bruce Wayne.
The Thunderbolts roster in either movie sounds infinitely more interesting than the real life version lol
The rebooted MCU is way better than the actual DCU lineup too
The non existence of Hulk in this hypothetical, while completely accurate and sensible, infuriates me.
You should do a remake of your video where you structure the MCU if they have all their rights.
With Feige at the helm, I don't think it'd be that different initially. Some X-Men and Spidey sprinkled in there, but not too much because there'd already have been 4 and 3 movies respectively. The big difference I think would be kicking off with a new Fantastic Four. But it would probably diverge big time in Phase 3.

X-23 is the Batgirl equivalent (or was) because the original plan would be to bring Hugh Jackman Wolverine (and presumably by extension the rest of the Fox X-Men) into the MEU, and in place of Wakanda Forever, we could have it's equivalent could be a proper Cap sequel so at least this universe can come full circle.
You forgot, they were also planning on a Harley Quinn vs The joker movie, so we also needed a canceled Electra vs kingpin movie.

Okay, hear me out: while I loved almost everything about this video, instead of "Venom," I think we should have gotten "Morbius," starring Jared Leto as the equivalent to Black Adam. Think about it:
>Actor is self-obsessed and notoriously hard to work with, yet keeps getting roles
>Character is almost completely irrelevant without his archenemy, who is completely vacant from the movie

Now what if the Monsterverse was structured like the MCU?
"And the fight everyone has always wanted to happen: Captain America vs. Venom is finally teased" I know this is like a creative/fun thing but to be real, if Captain America did fight Venom, he'd likely just barely hold his own against him if not get absolutely destroyed.
I think Captain America would win. The captain would pull through with pure determination.
@@SuperBatSpider Yeah but Venom is the come back king. For pete's sake, he fought his fricking creator. Someone who was said (before he did die) to be impossible to kill and be able to kill anyone in the Marvel universe. Someone who wiped out Sentry so easily it hurt all the Sentry fans that exist. Only way I can see Captain America winning that battle is if he had Mjolnir and even then that's only because of lightning creating fire.
@@jamesplayzreviews Yeah. Venom is definitely coming back, but Cap is probably gonna win the first match and as he’s a legendary hero he’s definitely at least not getting killed by Venom. I could see him losing a rematch though.
Venom vs Cap is a difficult fight to sell because both characters are very popular for very different reasons. No matter who wins, a significant portion of the fanbase is upset. It would _have_ to be a standoff and I can only hope it would be a cool one where both parties still feel like they're fighting their best but evenly matched and not a pissy one where it's clear they're both pulling punches because corporate can't let one of them win.
"The Rhinos" made me laugh my ass off lmaoooo a movie about rhinos

The only changes I would make would be to keep Deadpool as the Harley Quinn counterpart, and titling his spinoff movie: Deadpool and His Frickin Awesome All-Female A-Force. The fact that he’s a male character leading an all-female team would be a major joke that gets highlighted throughout the film.
The other thing I would change would be to make Ant-Man the counterpart to The Flash as opposed to Doctor Strange, as I think he fits the sillier tone better, and you could do the universe-hopping thing by having him overload the suit’s shrinking abilities, causing him to shrink between the metaphorical threads in the fabric of the universe.
I forgive you Kevin Feige😧
Someone needs to make a comparison chart of all the projects he talked about at the end and which ones they relate to because i could'nt follow more than half of it.
why do I get the feeling that in this cursed timeline, this unmade Avengers 2 and 3 would involve some drama involving Stark or Rogers being the dad of Pepper's child just like in our timeline's cancelled Justice League sequel and then Thanos shows up and everything messes up and then in movie three they go to fix what went wrong, big fight happens and then Stark dies along with Thanos and something like that
I mean for Harley, Gwenpool could've worked.

“Shazam only really has 3 villains” the monster society of evil would beg to differ.
So James Gunn takes over Marvel in this universe and DC in our universe….I see this as an absolute win
7:26 "What are we, some sort of The Thunderbolts?"
You never specified who was in charge of your MEU, so now you're making me want to see a what if Kevin Feige was in charge of your MEU video.
What if they made a Nintendo Cinematic Universe with the same structure as the MCU
the batgirl movie is so crazyyyyyy, fact that it was about to release but didnt
Honestly one of the only improvements would be that since iron man would be Batmans equivalent Edwin Jarvis from the comics would be his butler so that's pretty neat (not that I don't like the AI JARVIS)
This whole thing would be worth it for that Dr Doom movie
You really should do a spidey universe as the mcu structure
Captain America in the MEU is basically Earth-1610 Cap lol
I want a video with him giving the plot synopsis and castings of the cancelled projects
