  • Today we play around with the old and the new Milwaukee Redlithium USB batteries, the USB (48-11-2130) and the USB 30.AH (48-11-2131) to see what the differences are between the two. We end up experimenting with run times on high to figure out if the new iteration is worth the price. If you like this video, please subscribe to the channel; we post new content every Thursday. I'm an elevator mechanic and often use the hardhat headlamp and those extra 20 minutes could've come in handy on many occasions when on top of an elevator in a dark shaftway.

      I'm with you on that. I have an older hard hat lamp myself that I am going to play around with myself.

    Same here use only on low, specially when I’m working inside chiller units..i do carry a usb 3.0 so i can swap out batteries.

      I normally run everything on low and use the brighter functions when I need the extra light. Honestly the lower level is normally adequate for most situations.

    I use most of my Rover lights in medium or low. On high it’s a 22% increase, which is good for me. That’s almost 2-1/2 hrs longer on low.

      I do the exact same thing. I almost always run all my lights on low. I'm coming up with some ideas but I am thinking about doing some testing on lights to illustrate this. At the end of the day they are your lights and people can run them as they see fit but if the objective is run time low is definitely the best route. Sometimes the extra light from the bright setting is needed and that makes it great the setting is there to use. But you gotta realize you will be sacrificing run time.

    How do you charge?

    • @TalkingHandsTools
      @TalkingHandsTools  Před 2 lety

      You can charge in any of the devices with micro USB or you can get the dedicated charger.

    Would be interesting to actually see a run time test on low between the batteries instead of suggesting that this is where the 3.0 would be advantageous.😑

      Fair point maybe I'll get it all set up to shoot sometime and we'll see. I stand by my speculation though till we have other data to say otherwise.

      @@TalkingHandsTools I don’t disagree with your thought that low mode will result in much better performance, it would have just been nice to know how much more, that was all. Good review nonetheless.

      I will see if I can set up the time lapse some time and see what we get. It would be fun to find out how much longer you get out of it on low.

    .. Charge time

      I don't remember the exact time more but it should about 1/3 long from the extra capacity.

    $54 for a battery... ouch...

    • @TalkingHandsTools
      @TalkingHandsTools  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The bare battery should be around $25. Each tool is also a charger, so a separate charger isn't necessarily required.
