    You are AWESOME. You're into so much. My girl likes you too. She calls you the guy that eats green beans out of the weeds. Love all your videos.

    Great video, very informative! Quick question, without the front fork on - do you know the length of the bike altogether? From the back tire to the front.

    Dual Crown downhill fork , front 20mm straight axle and the stem usually used on these forks are called a direct mount stem. Hope that clears it up 🙃💥💯🤙

    I've ruined enough oil seals in my day that I won't use a hammer anymore. I have a machine at work that I have to rebuild on the regular, and I made up a press from a piece of all thread, nuts, and washers. Goes in great every time

    Where can I purchase the fork clamp? My forks got hit when I crashed and the clamp is bent but the forks are fine. Can’t find them anywhere for the kke forks, or do aftermarket forks include them?

    That fork will be a huge improvement a Fox or Marzzochi fork which is actually made by Fox just cheaper are super good as well. Simple fix for a headset cup installation tool is make one & is simple. Get a long threaded bolt or thread all & some nuts & large washers also two pieces of wood & place one set of wood nut & washer on the bottom then run it through the head tube. Then do the same to the top & start with the cups in place & start to tighten the top nut & it presses the cups in evenly. I made one & used it for years. Worked everytime on super high end bikes with super high end headsets. Also the only headset I’ve ever used after years of experience are Chris King headsets once you buy one you have it for life. The best out. A spacer will easily solve that play. Also if you wanna get fancy you can buy a kit that replaces the top headset cap with one that has a built in tool that sits inside the headset & anytime you need it you just remove the top cap no tools required & pull out the multi tool. You made a good choice though with that fork. I’ve been a mountain biker for almost 30 yrs now. I’ve built up bikes & worked on them for years. I was cringing when you where hammering those cups in. But you got ur down so that’s all that matters. There’s a saying in the mountain biking world Your not a mountain biker till you’re ruined some expensive parts. 😂

      The most expensive part I’ve ruined so far is my shoulder😁

      Mountainbike parts wont fit those bikes....better off with moped/motorcycle bearings

      I cringed at the hammer too, I haven't installed a headset that way since gradeschool. Still can't find my press!

    I always throw a little dust in my bearings, for flavor.

    Clampity clamp, clamp the clamp. That’s what a downhill bikes head set bearing looks like😳, a 70’s truck front wheel bearing! Those bikes look so mean! Kinda a Street Hawk vibe.

    Triple clamp. It clamps at 3 locations. Lower fork, upper fork and at the steering stem. 👍🏻

    How do you just remove the fork GUARDS? or do you have to remove the whole suspension

    • @HolmesHobbies

      The guards? I never bolted them on to begin with, lol

    As a real e bike tech I can tell you that pounding it in and then checking the clearance by seeing if there’s a gap, is a terrible way to install and then you get stuck 😂like bro didn’t think this through

  • @soupbums

    Best way to seat the race is put it in the freezer for couple hrs. When frozen it shrink's a little so when putting the race it just slides in with not much effort

  • @GlassfilmWeddings
    @GlassfilmWeddings Před 2 lety

    dude i think you were trying to put the bearing in wrong... Mine slides in and out LOL.

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  Před 2 lety

      I wish. It was tight coming out too. Should always be a slight press fit for bearings to keep the races from deforming under load.
