I've gotta say, Starships by Nicki feels like the exact reverse of this template, as the "Starships were meant to fly" part is incredible, catchy, nostalgiac, and euphoric, but the rest of the song is just kinda terrible, especially the drop
When I think of Starships I think of the Britany Spears collab for it. Where they mashed Till the World Ends into the song. I think Kesha is on it too.
How to Be a Human Being kicks ass. I don’t care about the post-Heat Waves hate. I still find it a really fun record. The Other Side of Paradise is really pretty.
Its a fantastic album and Brad just needs to give it a fair chance. He can hate it, he can love it, that's fine. Just please just ONE CHANCE

I really liked the how to be a human being album it has some really good meaningful songs. As a glass animals fan I do not like heatwaves, it's too formulaic and it gets stuck in my head, I want to blow my brains out everytime I hear it, not because of the band- it's just that song. For some people it's their first introduction to the band and they don't give their other work a chance. Also, I can't stand brads chat, y'all are so negative.
season 2 episode 3 is good IMO Brad just doesnt like indie rock, indie pop too much which is perfectly fine.
@@skins881 Heatwaves is IMO the exact song glass animals wanted to make, atleast for that specific album and I think that while I do not like the album as a whole, heatwaves is actually a highlight and is arguably a pretty good song.

What annoys me even more about Chopstix is that their last collab was a masterpiece. Like OK Alright had an amazing dark grimy instrumental, travis' verses were amazing and Q adds so much to the first half of the track. So hearing Chopstix just pisses me off

White America hook might sound average on the studio version but imagine an entire stadium screaming it, you have to put Eminems career at that point into context.

Honestly tho!!! It’s such a shame that Heat Waves set such a strong bias against Glass Animals for sooooo many people. How to Be a Human being is easily a 10/10 album in every way. It’s a very cool project. It would’ve been cool if brad had heard anything from them before Heat Waves but that is just not the reality we live in lol

I wrote the Norf Norf comment, as I thought we were meant to write good songs which were let down by the chorus - I think that a lot of songs chosen are just bad overall, and that the contrast is therefore not as stark. I like the beat switch on the chorus, I just wish the vocals had more variation. Still a fantastic song, and the verses are 10/10. On the whole, I would give it at least 8.5/10 🤓
Another song that I just remembered: Angeleyes by ABBA. The verses are fantastic and have that great minor key sense of Drama that ABBA perfected. The chorus sounds major key and quite bland, and the transition is quite jarring
Oh, just realized another one: Dido-Thank You. The verses are melancholic and beautiful, paving the way for Eminem's stan. The chorus is decent-ish, but is just an average radio chorus, and doesn't live up to the stage set by the verses.

Man am I really the only one who loves the hook on real? I think the hook really fits the song, it sounds like they are trying to convince themselves that they are infact 'real' plus it's catchy as hell.

The red death hook is actually incredible it only comes in every 4 minutes so it’s a perfect little treat for listening to so many verses
Funny enough, Kendrick was the one who wrote, developed, and even made a reference for the hook on CHopstix. Granted, at any given point before release anyone with ears could’ve been like “this hook is ass Q”, but I guess his vision persists.
Kendrick's writing just becomes worse when he's either 1. Writing for someone else 2. Writing for himself on a pop song

@@Primalstrawberry I love Indie Pop but I can say Brad's hate for indie pop is understandable. He grew up listening to Rap, which is one of the most musically and lyrically complex genre. Listening to indie pop would feel like listening to baby rhymes to him.

Vince Staples has an ok discography with some absolute masterpieces every now and then (Norf Norf, Are you with that?, Magic) and in some way I think that makes me appreciate him and his music way more. Every time he releases a project I just vibe through it and absolutely rock to the stand out track.
I don’t agree w that at all, I mean he has those incredible standout tracks, but honestly I think that his discography as a whole is one of the best of his generation.
