I've been going to Valencia almost every summer for the past 42 years. It's a great place. That beach you were on (Las Arenas and Malvarrosa) use to be horrible. Back in the 80's it was dirty and no one went there. You had to go to El Saler or beyond, but then the city of Valencia cleaned it up, put in the large long promenade, added restaurants along the path to Patacona, and now it's awesome. But like you said, it's not the bluest beach, or the greatest sand, but I love this beach. It has everything you need for spending a day at the beach. You can bring your own food, drinks (alcohol included, unlike every beach in the USA where you have to hide it), bring some chairs, towels, umbrellas) and spend the whole day there. They have full showers, foot showers, restrooms, little blue and white kiosks on the sand every 50 yards that sell, beer, soda, ice cream, etc. Plus the awesome restaurants all along the promenade to eat what in my opinion is the best food in the world. Tip for eating at the restaurants, especially on a Sunday. Make a reservation in the morning for the 2 PM lunch, pick a table and they will reserve it for you. Spend the day at the beach, at 2 PM head to the restaurant, leave your stuff on the beach (no one will bother it) eat your long 2 hour lunch, then head back to the beach.

@Yunit87 It's very easy to make friends in Spain. Having lived in Spain since 1996, I can say it's a nice place to live and socialize. I made the choice when I arrived to avoid all the British/Irish pubs where most expats congregate and I immersed myself in Spanish culture. And that led me to becoming fluent in Spanish within 3 years. It helped that my girlfriend from Madrid didn't speak one word of English, so I really had to learn if I wanted to be with her. Which we still are.😊

Valencia is famous for the City of Arts and Sciences, the Valencia Cathedral, the Old Town, the Central Market, and being the birthplace of paella. Valencia is also popular for its peculiar museums, quirky festivals, beautiful sunny weather, and fantastic sandy beaches.

Valencia is a beautiful and vibrant city located on the eastern coast of Spain. Highlights include the Old Town with its historic cathedral and colorful markets, the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, and the Turia Gardens, a beautiful park that runs through the heart of the city. Valencia is also known for its delicious cuisine, including paella and fresh seafood. I love it!
Appreciate this content. I retire from the military next month and plan on doing a lot of traveling. Spain is high on my list.

Hey bro, what's good? I live in Valencia and I just saw your video. Actually, I live real close to the metro you where looking for. On the same avenue. As a piece of advice, if you visit the north side of Spain you will definitely see the most beautiful beaches in Spain. The beaches up there beat Marbella and Valencia by far. If you have the chance to visit Galicia or Asturias you will see. Peace!

Don't worry bro you didn't miss anything in Benidorm way to much tourists there even the Spanish people avoid that place..better check out the smaller places on the Costa blanca like Althea, Calpé, Denia etc etc

Spain was never on my radar either until a couple of years ago when I went there for work. Been there several times now and I love it. Spain is a such a cool place. My favorite place in Europe. Hopefully I'll be able to talk my ol' lady into vacationing there sometime.

Czech, remember Valencia is a BIG COLLEGE TOWN, meaning lots of parties & gatherings, meaning lots of affordable parties. Ya dig. Have a great time. PEACE MY BROTHER.

It wouldn't matter if it's a college town. School hasn't started and most Spaniards (Europeans for that matter) take their vacations in August anyway. That's partly why the city looks so dead and shops are closed. It's not that everyone's at the beach. Maybe a beach somewhere else, but not there.

When I was last in Barcelona I stayed I a one bedroom apartment on the a”La Rumbla” not far from the main shopping mall districts and beach, it was a while ago now, wasn’t that expensive then, could be a little more now but you can haggle the price down with them, they’ll ok with that and possibly get a one room with all amenities for a decent price. It happened to me, and Barcelona is a beautiful city. Also when there check out “Gaudi’s” work around the town, great architect and artist, done lots of artistic work around the city and the cathedral. Highly recommend it. Also if you get the chance go to see Barca play at the “Camp Nou” great team and great atmosphere.
