- Mr. Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) stands up to an abusive father, delivering justice in his own unconventional way.
Kindergarten Cop (1990): Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as an undercover cop posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to catch a dangerous criminal. Once he wrangles his young charges, as well as the affections of a beautiful teacher (Penelope Ann Miller), he prepares for a final showdown with his intended prey in this "Totally enjoyable" (Ralph Novak, People Magazine) action-comedy from director Ivan Reitman.

This was the peak of Arnold...same year he did Total Recall, and few months later T2 , what a blessed era we had ...
Not forgetting twins Malaik I think that was one of his best films bro
Yep, T2, was the summer of 91.
His peak was earlier, before he started being a cartoon in every movie.
DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNNN
Now he wants you to be injected with CovidSyrup..... soon he and the rest of them will come to know what they have done.
Linda Hunt doesn’t get enough credit for being a great actress.
She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1982. You're right though. She is a fantastic actress in everything I have seen her in.
She was awesome in Silverado.
Is it wrong with me to say that every time I see her next to Arnold, I think she’s gonna say something like “DARLING”, similar to Edna Mode?
Linda Hunt was also in God of War, as the voice of Gaia the Titan.
I was just thinking the same thing. Loved this movie when it came out. Amazing actress
This scene always brings me happiness and a tear in my eyes. A good hearted teacher, protecting the abused child.
it saddens me greatly that those teachers don't exist anymore. may god forgive us for standing by and doing nothing.
❤
And a real principal who knows when real justice was done and doesn’t live and die by the rules
@@ScottPittman-jc7phdf has it right.
I worked in a school for years, standardized expectations and such have scared every educator into a corner, combine that with the inability to be honest about shitty parenting with parents and you have a generation of kids with depression and social anxiety on top of underfunded schools. There is a certain political party that wants to even abolish public education itself so only rich kids can get an education, and they've been doing a masterful job of lying to the public, blaming staff while quietly gutting funding and giving the savings to their friends through military contracting and other means.
We cannot stand by and do nothing.
Me too. Always makes me tear up.
After ten years working for the sheriff’s office, I decided that I wanted to try to help kids before they got to jail. The other jailers started calling me kindergarten cop. Over the years, I have been told by parents that I made a positive impact on their kids’ lives. I’m still teaching after 18 years.
Good for you buddy, that must make you feel great.
I love this! Hope it's true!
🫡aye cap'n!
Thank you for making a difference x
God bless you
The vicarious punch at the end from Mrs. Hunt always makes me smile.
Yeah, this scene cemented her as one of the best characters in the entire movie.
Same
Arnold really is a great actor. That subtle smile growing as he realizes she’s actually praising him instead of punishing him never gets old
I was impressed by that, too!

I love how the mother is defending her husband’s actions and pretending everything is fine upon yelling at Kimble, then when he spots the husband, he then completely ignores her and then marches over to deck him. Carries a kind of swagger that moment.
She was doing what typical battered housewives do
I had a mother like that. I lost so much respect and cut her off due to how much emotional damage was caused from defending her abusive husband (my first stepfather). I couldn't stand the idea of dating when it after that.
@@roguejester4986So what happened anyway, did they both get arrested?
@@gabeherndon2415 He likely did, my mother recently miscarried and lost her recent fiance who according to my brothers and dad was actually a good guy.
@@roguejester4986 im sorry you had to go through all that man, yeah life just isn't fair, there are those that wanna be parents, and those who don't wanna be parents, in all the wrong ways possible.
This is actually an outstanding film and performance by Arnold.
It was great
"I don't have to justify myself to you"
Umm actually you do, lady. He's a teacher and mandated reporter of any suspected child abuse.
Yeah it makes me sick how these mothers defend their abusive husbands
Too bad they ain't doing that today seeing how the woke teachers are indoctrinated children with a gate way to pe3d0feelia.
Not that I excuse this in anyway, but it was filmed in 1989. Wasn't as big or understood how important it is to report any child abuse at home as it is now
If you notice, she's glancing sideways over her shoulder as she says that. Her posturing is for her husband's ears so that he won't beat her up when they get home. Still not the right thing to do, but self-preservation instinct makes us do selfish things sometimes.
What year were you born? Assaulting children was NEVER ACCEPTED.@Banjofan64X
One of the most rewarding, 'feel good' scenes in cinema history !!! 😂
Yes. At some point in our lives, we all have that "Ahnald" moment.

@@rodneywk1 I don't remember that. I do remember that as Republican governor of CA, he was putty in the hands of the democrats.

its funny how Linda Hunt is so tiny and yet she plays intimidating alpha females all the time
Like her characters in Silverado and NCIS LA.
She's like a female Ben Kingsley then.
@@joliecidemore Peter Dinklage. Small body, matured face. Intimidating voice.
The true powerful woman!

The punch to the dads gut was rewarding but it was the Linda hunts part at the end that always makes me chuckle lol
She's like "Man I wish could do that." 😂
@@DaBuffNerd You KNOW she's thought about it :) Probably wanted to do it for years herself.
This is an overlooked classic. I love this movie, and I loved Arnold's choice at the end.
When I was in highschool, 1979, Vietnamese Boat people arrive.
I was 15 and in high school....and tutored English to classmates and their parents after schooll. I KNEW my future was to be teaching overseas.
Fast forward to 1994...I'm in a secure DOJ job, US Immigration in San Francisco Airport.
I went to Taiwan on vacation...and on the last day, found a school that needed a teacher.
On the plane back to the USA, I wrote my letter of resignation.
30 days after that...I landed in Taiwan..300kg of clothes, National Geographic mags and cassettes of music..and $800 to start my new life.

Given that Schwarzenegger has spoken before about growing up with a physically abusive father a number of things about his life and career hit differently. This is one of them.
You hit the kid I hit you is a great line
That was a great line
I love her punch after he leaves her office!😂
0:43 I love this part where Arnold goes into beast mode as soon as he lays eyes on the husband. Pure determination to set things right.

She stole that scene.

She is also the voice of Gaia in God of War 2-3
@ducklingduck6027 not in 3, she stays on as the "Narrator" though. Susan Blakeslee who voices Maleficent in various Disney Media voices Gaia instead.
I love how intimidated Arnold's character is of that little woman, lol. It's really wholesome. He recognizes despite their size difference that she is the one in the position of power, so he respects the hierarchy.
That's Linda Hunt for you
That's hilarious. A big guy like Arnold Schwarzenegger and is intimidated by a little lady.
Probably the best acting job Arnold ever did.

Linda Hunt is a national treasure.
Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actress in The Year of Living Dangerously 👍🏻
Yeah. She was also great in Silverado
We need more of her character in these schools today along with Mr Kimble

Why can't we have people like Arnold? Someone who actually cares about the will being of kids
Still love that movie! Having worked with abused kids, yes, many of us would have loved some exactly as the Kindergarten Cop did.
Fun fact, the script dictated Arnold to simply report the father to the authorities. However, Arnold improvised and beat the shit out some guy just trying to pick up his kid.
lol
Linda Hunt was a very experienced actress. She NAILED this.
T-800: Target Acquired
When I was young, I didn't have an opinion about bullying or anything like that. But as I grew older, I'm becoming sensitive toward bullying. I hate bullies!
I hate them as well. And this is from someone who was only bullied twice in school (and once was for getting in between a bully and his victim!).
I'm not a violent man, but seeing bullies in action really gets my blood boiling. I truly shudder to think what would happen if I came across such a situation these days.
bullies kept people in order, theres different kinds of bullies, those that are straight up messed up and then you had those that bullied nerds for being weird but also bullied other bullies, these days bullies are pretty much non existent, this results in most in the school to be very socially awkward people now, rise of incelism.
@overcastskyline1747 kept people in order? Lol way to justify abuse and trauma. Bullies should never be praised for the pain they inflict on others.
@@billienews bullies were everywhere back then, less socially awkward people, nowadays every guy is subscribed to crunchyroll and wont even approach a chick
@@overcastskyline1747 Rise of Incelism? Bullies keeping order? Wow your parents really failed with you.
Not sure if its the cinematography or Linda Hunt's acting (or a combo of the two), but I really love the scene with her and Schwarzenegger talking. She give off this commanding, almost intimidating presence over him. Really good scene.
Love those longer scenes with simple conversations, no cuts.
Mrs Hunt was very observational. She knew the kid was abused. When she asked how it felt you realise shes always wanted to do it and took great pleaseure seeing it
i dont know why...but the principal reminds me of Edna from the Incredibles!

this movie is a brilliant gem. i love it.
What a marvelous couple of performances are contained here!!!
My favorite scene in this whole movie - and I love this movie.
Of all the villains and monsters Arnold fought, this one is the best!! Sadly a lot of kids don’t have a Mr Kimble to help them
The only person who could play Edna from incredibles, and she’d kill it.
Arnold is brilliant hes a legend
It’s not a TUUUUMA. It’s my fist.
One of his best movies.
Great movie! Best scene! Linda Hunt is amazing!! The authority she held over him with her being 4' 9" and him being, well Arnold! Just too perfect! He showed geniune fear and respect for her authority. What a genuine scene.
During Covid there was a reunion of the kids from the movie and Arnold crashed it by surprise. It was really fun to watch. They are seemed to have genuinly good memories from making the movie.
Dude legit took a swing at Peak Arnold, points for balls at least.
Jeez this hits different once you have kids
BIG time.
Love the film and especially Linda Hunt in it
Arnold is legit one of the greatest actors to ever grace our eyes. That man has always been good in Parental Roles.
Kindergarten Cop Arnold Schwarzenegger, Penelope Ann Miller, Pamela Reed, Linda Hunt, mesmerizing
So many of Arnold's films are my favourites. All I watched as a kid growing up.
This was during his Nothing But Net era.
Hettys undercover work was great 🙂
I love the line someone finally noticed, when the Principal said you have no teaching experience do you?
Thats the sad joke we have nowadays. Theyre hiring teachers that dislike and have no tolerance or patience with kids.
No kid deserves to be hit and pushed around he has feelings and emotions and there moments like anyone else right glad to see him getting the help he finally deserve way to go appreciate you guys thanks great job people you should be proud !!! Joe
The best scene in the movie.
This was really underrated movie for Arnold, he was fantastic in this role
Our school teacher took us to see this movie at the theater back in the 90s. I remember we were all talking about this scene afterwards, we absolutely loved it.
Miss Hunt is one hell of a great actress!!!! 😍 😍
One of best movies ever
Amazing scene.
Arnie's not a mandatory reporter - he's a mandatory avenger.
I don’t appreciate any kind of violence but when it comes to a child abusing this man deserved a lesson!!❤❤😢
Boys need to be saved from abusive mothers.
Classic
They don't make movies like this anymore!
Back when the world used to make sense.
Yeah and it sucks these days like we wish we’ll go back to films like this
I love Linda Hunt in this role! This was back when Hollywood made movies, not remakes of the same movie and not formulaic box off ice tripe. Good, honest, funny movies that didn't preach a message or have to fill a bunch of checkboxes.
And after this, he went to the gun store and asked for a "Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range."
Your a legend Arnold
I have loved Linda Hunt since seeing this.
Great scene, all of it !
I love that scene, "Tell me how did it feel to hit that SOB". LOL
I didn’t know that the movie “kindergarten cop” was going to be a good movie and I guess this movie has relatable vibes to parents out there who are experiencing abuse and the child or a group of children need to have somebody who can trust and to know what’s going on in their own lives. Man I wish movies these days would be like this and it’s not the same anymore. And that man that is hitting the dad, he looks like Arnold and idk who Arnold is so I didn’t know he’s going to hit him hard.
Lol the principal
Fine acting! And the dialogue and moral conundrums!!
Just amazeballs!
XD the way the principal punched the air to mimick him after he left was great 😂😂😂
Ya gotta love Linda Hunt!
Sadly....in real life today he'd be sued and fired from the force.
I love that look on Arnold’s face when he sees the guy. He goes into pitbull mode. It was almost too real 😂 love this movie so much.
He turned into the terminator at that moment lol
The juxtaposition of those two physically is hilarious! This and the Boys/girls scene are two of the best in this movie.
For every kid out there that had a physically abusive father, this scene somehow hits hard. Not so much because of the abusive father getting his comeuppance. But seeing a traditional hero in Schwarzenegger standing up for the helpless and self-blaming kid. Coming from a similar situation, scenes like this reminded me that good and responsible men exist, even if it is only a movie. It sounds sad, but I never knew any good guys in real life back then. I was raised by movie heroes, and I wished every heroic leading man was my father 😅
What does want? Arnold punching an abusive parent.
This movie surprised me.
And that scene made me emotional.
Fantastic scene! 😂❤
😈 Horrible mum and dad, Poor boy 😭😭😭
I suddenly occurred to me: What if the MOM was the abuser? Oops...
This is no doubt my favorite Arnold movie. I like most of what he's done but is the best!👍
This is just a great feel good movie. Very underrated , Arnold did a great job !
That's Shaddout Mapes!! Fremen Housekeeper for House Atreides!!!😁
Anyone notice when Kimble was hammering the abusive father, the mother stood across the street and did nothing?
Typically a spouse would quickly jump to their partner's defense if they were attacked; unless she too was abused and was getting some satisfaction from witnessing that.
Sadly it is more likely they would attack the person fighting the abuser.
@keysersoze3427
That's an unpleasant fact
@jafarlute6394 It is, but in their logic I am attacking their partner and they will be punished if they do not defend them.
They usually attack the person attacking the abuser. These relationships are usually that toxic. It also ends up being the mother abuses the kids as well.
ORRRR and hear me out....
She was the one that was abusing the kid
Great scene and great movie
Guess a lotta people still ask what happened after this incident.
Normally, if anyone presses charges against an Abusive Parent, they’re not only Arrested, they most likely Lose Their Job, and are sent to Jail for 5 Years & fined $5K. In addition, the child is granted Immunity, and the Parent is then placed under strict probation until the child turns 18. Of course, that doesn’t also mean the Parent would probably have to sign Divorce Papers, and end up living in Poverty, because the Parent is unable to get a proper job, knowing that he has a past Felonious History of Domestic Violence, Abuse, & Neglect on his Permanent Record. Of course, the Mother would equally lose custody of her child, and be forced to pay for compensation, along with the supposedly now ex husband.
So yeah, that’s what I imagined happened next after that B*****d Father got beat up by a Kindergarten Cop. Heck, I don’t see how he would even win in a lawsuit against the Teacher, since he’d become a Laughing Stock for getting beat by a Teacher. The Sick Father lives off the streets, while the Weak Mother would be ridiculed by every parent within the kid’s Kindergarten class, and become a recluse in her own home, alone. Most likely, the kid would live with his grandparents, and have a safer & healthier lifestyle, thanks to his Teacher.
Aha....
and i guess we're also forgetting is the teacher is a uncover cop.
And that poor excuse of a father won't survive one day in prison. I believe it's because most inmates, not all of them, won't tolerate those who hurt or kill women and children
