Hi um, I'm not exactly a parent but im concerned about my baby sister. I have never met an autistic person before so I'm not sure. My baby sister turned 4 yrs old just recently and she still cant say a sentence.. It's concerning but me and my fam always brushed it off by saying shes just a slow-learner. Her behaviour includes spinning without feeling dizzy, lining up her toys and our condiments on the table, huuuggeee tantrums over the smallest things, sleeping in the morning and being awake the whole night! I'm not really knowledgable about autism, so I'm hoping someone can help me and my baby sister..

My 11 month old is not gesturing, she doesn't mimic speech or attempt to say words. She hand flaps, head burrows, avoids eye contact, doesn't respond to her name and never has. Physically she seems to be developing normally, even a little ahead, but I'm planning to take my concerns to her pediatrician at her 12 month appointment, because I'm becoming more aware of the signs and I want to get her the support she needs as soon as I possibly can.

Hi a lot of what you explain here is happening to me as well with my 8 month old daughter. I am a mother of two sons with moderate to severe autism. It’s tricky. I’m at this stage where I’m beginning to feel disheartened because I feel my daughter may have autism. My baby is displaying a lot of what you have described. She twists her hands all the time, stiffens arms, legs and hands. She does this when she’s excited , frustrated or any time she feels stimulated. She makes stimming type facial expressions just as one of my sons did. She babbles some but makes grunt noises, screams and hums. One of my sons did this too. She doesn’t like to look at me up close face to face. She will give eye contact if I’m 3ft or so away. She does smile at me as did my son. She cries for me but then pushes me away when I pick her up. She pushes me away a lot. Many times when I hold her, I have her sitting on my lap with her back facing me. She will rigorously twists her body away from facing me to get into this position and I comply. She likes this position a lot. From experience with my boys, she may like the position because facing me creates sensory overstimulation and that doesn’t feel good to her body. Those times when I do make her look at me by taking her head in my hands and making her look at me, she does resist but she will set her eyes at me. I do that when I’m speaking to her. Special Education teachers and specialists that work with my boys make sure they have the boys attention by ensuring eye contact. They do not physically turn their heads. I’m mom so I can do that. There’s nothing wrong with starting sensory exercises on your baby it helps create awareness for her when you’re speaking and it builds tolerance for eye contact and socializing. My daughter also isn’t a great sleeper although she is able at times to self soothe as both of my sons did not self soothe. When she wakes, I’ve often seen her react as if she is disoriented. It’s like she doesn’t know where she’s at. She’s crying and looking around frantically. What I found strange was that my daughter at four months old was squirming and whipping around in my arms to fight sleep and was refusing my cuddles to help her sleep. I thought an older baby would act like this because older babies are more mobile, they are eager to explore so they fight sleep. My baby at 4 months hated tummy time, on her back she stayed in one place with thumb in mouth, toys frustrated her, it didnt seem like they brought enjoyment. She was doing anything so why was she fighting sleep like this I thought. When she gets upset, she’s goes from 0 to 100 just like my younger son with autism did as a baby and toddler. I can go on.
I’m not saying your child has autism but mothers can sense things just as I did with my sons. Even now I struggle to be hopeful that my daughter isn’t autistic. I find some comfort that she’s hitting her milestones but at the same time I know my older son with autism hit his milestones as well. I hate autism and what it does to my sons. Some babies can display certain behaviors and characteristics and turn out typical. Until your child is at an age where a diagnosis can be given I would provide a sensory diet. That’s doing routine stuff to help her develop sensory-wise. An early start can help. Don’t let people tell you what’s autistic behavior and what’s not. I’ve seen my son display OCD behaviors and quirks, out of nowhere... No, they didn’t just develop over time... it’s, one day they didn’t act like this and they next day they did. I can go on. But to any one who reads this, I’m just a mom going off experience having two sons with autism. I’m not a doctor. But as mother’s we get that feeling and I’ve listened to others mainly to ease my mind even though that gut feeling kept challenging it. Do what you feel is best.

Stiffens hands n legs most of the times when lieung in bed or in rocking chair when he gets excited by his own. This stiffening he does since his 3rd month i suppose.hand flapping he does (bt i tot that hows babys learn to grab objscts, and experiment with their fingers and arms?) He grabs objects, put in his mouth etc. rolls, tries to crawl etc. pls help me know if its all normal. He doesnt drink milk while awake. We do it only wen he sleeps. Semi solids at times he eats well and sometimes doesnt at all. Now a days screems badly n cries most of the time. Its very hard to put him to sleep this month. He babbles. But babbles on his own. I dont know if babies will converse at this age!? He does eye contact and smiles n laughs with ppl who tries to make him laugh. When parents shift him from one to other, he leans to go to them. But while trying to lift from his crib, he just arches his back to ask us to lift. But doesnt extend arms.
Are these all normal behavior or needs to be evaluated?

My wife and I are first time parents. We have a 15 month old daughter. My wife was 32 when she gave birth. Anyways, our baby girl doesn’t really play with toys traditionally. She just likes throwing them over the fence/wall of her pen or the baby gate. She babbles a lot but she hasn’t spoken a word. She doesn’t respond to her name most of the time. If she’s doing something and I’m trying to get her attention I can goes as far as clapping my hands, not loudly, by her head and she doesn’t even respond. At first I thought it was a hearing problem, but if she hears the theme song of her favorite cartoon she immediately turns to look at the Tv. She doesn’t point or clap or anything. She rarely makes eye contact. She’s just a relatively quiet baby. She’s an only child and hasn’t been around other babies though. I’m scared.

She grabs things but she also sleeps with her arms up as well. She also like to when sitting on our knee flap her arms and move her legs like shes flying. Are these odd behaviours ? My son and daughter never did these behaviours

And also still he cant talk until now he is 19months old, but he can say Papa, dede(milk), and jayjay, when im teaching him to speak.

Hows he now?my 7 months bAby too doesnt respond to name. Borrows. Head while trying to crawl, if we make him laugh, he does eye contact and smiles n laughs.

My 4 year old has actually regressed in some areas in playing but that could be because of
    covid 19.
He is approving alot in his eating and talking very minor things through because now that I am home again to help with conversation, virtual schooling and taking time to cook to his liking.
He always want to go outside and play with other kids but the kids that live in my neighborhood are very fast children who can play outside til 12 at night. He has picked up some habits I hate like banging on doors and windows and other surfaces that make sounds and he broke my television.
He is No longer interested in his tablet anymore.

My 3 month old has been doing all her milestones does quite a bit of eye contact but there’s times she avoid me or family if they are trying to get her attention she seems more interested what’s around then them.
