That whole negotiation with the lower deck workers was very interesting and I’m glad you can choose to not be a stereotypical Imperial officer who would just execute them all.
I went pretty much for the same more gentle command style and let them get away without punishment but not with arms. It feels like the right call but as it is 40k I fear lenience will bite me in the butt. This is why I also saw this as a one off thing and for the moment left things in the 1st officers hands...well let's see where it will end.
This is good. I'm amazed by the quality of the writing. The NPCs are awesome. I suggest that you start by the prison. It is an outbreak, so I believe that Gideon as a guardsman would go for the emergencies as a priority. Waiting for more of the chronicles. Keep up the good work.
I find myself loving the story and the dialogue more than the combat itself. The amount of choices you have to make is what makes the game great (as it should). The random encounters while traveling in the system is also impressive.
I like the banter with your crew, especially Abelard. Gideon seems like a great leader so far. It's also interesting to see what kind of problems a Rogue Trader and his officers have to deal with.
As an Inquisitor, I find the way you dealt with the situation on the lower deck, potentially troubling. But you may have also made sure a lot of the menials in that sector will be personally loyal to you. The thing that worries me the most is the fact that the amulets of heresy appears to have come from either higher up in your proverbial foodchain or from an infiltrator. I would remedy this by either recruiting a retinue of clerics and sending them regularily to monitor the menials while seeing to their spiritual needs. Or the safest option would be to send them all to the Emperor and let him sort them out. You should also send enginseers to weed out potential tech heresy. Lord Inquisitor Takirosh Ordo Machinum.
1:15:16 This is the moment when my opinion on Abelard changed. I'm curious to see the next part of his quest and the character arc he's beginning to set out on.
Argenta plus bolters is insanely fun, especially with RoF boosting gear and the Sacred Bolter Casing for the Soldier HA. I just had her dump a 38 round burst from a heavy bolter into an act 4 boss that had 3k health and regenerated to full after reaching 0 the first time. It was at 2599 health before the burst, reached 0, regen'd to full, and then was left at 454 at the end. A quick "wildfire" and a second burst shot, and it was well and truly dead. Sacred Bolter Casing makes her soldier heroic act insane too, as you get like 20 single shots with the heavy bolter and they cannot miss.

I am definitely enjoying the addition of RPG or RPG-like games to the roster of videos, and I would like to suggest a game called Underrail as I think it's an excellent game with a lot of roleplaying potential.

Fine work in securing the aid of young Cassia, she is sure to navigate the ship as well as the warp can be navigated. Fine work with the uprising in depot 4. While the Seneschal has a firm sense of duty, and has proven and will continue to prove to be a valuable servant, and maybe even a friend. He would do well to remember that the carrot and the stick can both be equally effective, if one is used too much above the other, the effect will lessen. We all look forward to seeing What the future brings. The emperor protects.

a classic case of the differences between navy officers and ground officers, an inverted situation did cause a us civil war top brass murder so I hope this pans out well. Navy officers have this tendency to be more hardass than ground officers.
Depends on the Ground Officer... if you were to play... say... a Death Korp of Krieg officer... he would have gassed the entire lower decks and allowed the Emperor to sort them out.

I LOVE that you're playing a good guy in 40K. Trying to make a dystopian future just a bit better is a much more interesting story than leaning into the gRimDaRK edgelord route
I really liked your command decisions so far, especially in dealing with the strike below decks. That is until the end when you dealt with the other ship. I was shocked you you decided to blow it up despite the strong recommendations not to. It seemed like the game designers were trying to tell you something - like there was more there to do. Did you interact with them, find out what was there and then go back to an earlier save and change your mind?? That was very out of character I thought. I would have liked to see what more there was to it.
Hi Barrym -- thanks. No, they were just pirates and they're one of the many factions in the game. What you're meant to do is up to you as a player and in this case, we draw the line at trading with pirates. There's plenty of other factions you can trade with and strangely enough, I can still trade with this faction through the High Factotum. Which means unless that's unintentional, there is no real consequence for blowing up that ship.
Question? when he served in the guard was it from the bottom up enlisted grunt or was he groomed from a young age to command troops I feel like that could be a disconnect between his second and him

@SurrealBeliefs I made the same exact build as your Abelard. I looked how you leveled him. And I was in the same exact situation. Lvl 6 I believe, I am lvl8 with him and he is still not getting 20 plus damage. If those were critical hits then I understand.
Huh, I'd have to see the rest of your builds too. It could be factors like Regimental Tactics and other support abilities I use. I also use a lot of debuffs on my enemies too. Without using buffs and debuffs, I wouldn't be able to do nearly as much.

I think Gideon has been a bit soft as of late he'll need to toughen his act up or the galaxy is going to eat him alive and spit his soul into the warp. This is supposed to be a seasoned guardsmen and he didn't even tell his officers to stop bickering like children?... By the throne I'd hate to be in his council with everyone just screaming at eachother with ideas and orders as he just sits there.... I personally would of probably just purged the lower decks but your approach did let you learn that it was probably higher up that the heresy starts at. Though I have one thing I have to say to you.... By the gods could you please choose whether you're reading something or not! In a game were reading is the story I can't have just half reading something and skipping my man some of us need time to pause so we can read what's happening your lightening fast skipping over everything is a little grating but it's the ones you start reading to just then skip suddenly that get me, like bro please warn before skipping so I have time to at least read it myself lol I've been sat a few times going "oh he's reading it that's- NOPE it's gone what the fuck did that just say" then I got to rewind to read so I know what's happening. Please just warn me dude
I disagree completely that he's soft. He's less concerned about antics that are personally motivated. What matters to him is how they perform in the actual job and the moment when they're needed. Also for Gideon, it's important that he instills loyalty even with the rabble down below. If we are exclusively hated and feared then that opens up weakness if someone provides them an enticing offer. I try to sum up the core parts of what is going on from time to time. I'd be shocked if there's any essential elements that I missed that wasn't just dialogue fluff. There is so much reading in this game that I've become hoarse after even recording a single part. I would have to quit playing this if I tried to read every single word, every single line and section. My voice wouldn't be able to keep up with it. I would try to read aloud everything that comes up for over an hour and check in, haha.

The fact you let two officers bicker over a trivial topic so openly is really not something I'd expect from a seasoned guardsman. I mean Gideon has seen what that does to the front lines I'd bet he's watched full battles getting lost because nobles bickered over what strategy to use. I would even go so far as to bet that he's ignored some officers to move for a better strategy and yet he's not telling his officers to act like actual officers of the guard?... Just not what I was expecting from this guy, I'd definitely be going in for a transfer if I was stuck in his officer meeting where there all shouting matches like that one, everyone clambering to get heard by the lord.... Yeesh. And yea I understand not reading everything that's understandable especially with the long vids you put out and still keeping them edited, I was more asking for more time so we(specifically myself if I'm honest lol) could pause and read take the ending with the pirates there. Since it's text I just want to make clear that I don't take any of this personally and I do enjoy discussing character choices and reasoning them out. It's fun! That's a massive reach and assumption based off one interaction you don't agree with my choices for. Did this take place in a critical moment where we needed just exact obedience? No, not at all. If it happened in a situation like that, then yes, clamp down. You said it yourself, it was trivial. Your example isn't applicable because nothing of what has happened has translated to some negative event on the battlefield which is where it matters. You also have to consider that this is NOT the Imperial Guard anymore, in fact we're a sort of quasi-lord over a people who live in the ship. In this case, Gideon perceived that if someone like that young officer would risk her literal life to come talk to him then it had to be important. Gideon would repudiate a bog standard leader who would just have her executed or locked away. Oh I see, that interaction. I'll do my best to give a little bit more time if it's plot heavy. My voice was giving out at that point so I felt like I had to wrap it up. I totally get wanting more time to read. I hope for the episode today that I put out, I don't skip anything important. Sometimes there's a lot of dialogue fluff, so I'll just try to pick out what might be important to read just so I can preserve my voice. I feel like I'm narrating an audiobook, haha.

Hell it was your paladin that had me once more trying to actually play a good character for once in RP which led to some funny moments. If I ever get the game I suppose I'll have to find out what happens if one acts differently myself which is the beauty of games like this. You can watch someone but still play it and have a completely different experience. Yea that's understandable there's a lot there! @SurrealBeliefs I made the same exact build as your Abelard. I looked how you leveled him. And I was in the same exact situation. Lvl 6 I believe, I am lvl8 with him and he is still not getting 20 plus damage. If those were critical hits then I understand.
Huh, I'd have to see the rest of your builds too. It could be factors like Regimental Tactics and other support abilities I use. I also use a lot of debuffs on my enemies too. Without using buffs and debuffs, I wouldn't be able to do nearly as much.

I think Gideon has been a bit soft as of late he'll need to toughen his act up or the galaxy is going to eat him alive and spit his soul into the warp. This is supposed to be a seasoned guardsmen and he didn't even tell his officers to stop bickering like children?... By the throne I'd hate to be in his council with everyone just screaming at eachother with ideas and orders as he just sits there.... I personally would of probably just purged the lower decks but your approach did let you learn that it was probably higher up that the heresy starts at.
Though I have one thing I have to say to you.... By the gods could you please choose whether you're reading something or not! In a game were reading is the story I can't have just half reading something and skipping my man some of us need time to pause so we can read what's happening your lightening fast skipping over everything is a little grating but it's the ones you start reading to just then skip suddenly that get me, like bro please warn before skipping so I have time to at least read it myself lol I've been sat a few times going "oh he's reading it that's- NOPE it's gone what the fuck did that just say" then I got to rewind to read so I know what's happening. Please just warn me dude
I disagree completely that he's soft. He's less concerned about antics that are personally motivated. What matters to him is how they perform in the actual job and the moment when they're needed. Also for Gideon, it's important that he instills loyalty even with the rabble down below. If we are exclusively hated and feared then that opens up weakness if someone provides them an enticing offer.
I try to sum up the core parts of what is going on from time to time. I'd be shocked if there's any essential elements that I missed that wasn't just dialogue fluff. There is so much reading in this game that I've become hoarse after even recording a single part. I would have to quit playing this if I tried to read every single word, every single line and section. My voice wouldn't be able to keep up with it. I would try to read aloud everything that comes up for over an hour and check in, haha.

The fact you let two officers bicker over a trivial topic so openly is really not something I'd expect from a seasoned guardsman. I mean Gideon has seen what that does to the front lines I'd bet he's watched full battles getting lost because nobles bickered over what strategy to use. I would even go so far as to bet that he's ignored some officers to move for a better strategy and yet he's not telling his officers to act like actual officers of the guard?... Just not what I was expecting from this guy, I'd definitely be going in for a transfer if I was stuck in his officer meeting where there all shouting matches like that one, everyone clambering to get heard by the lord.... Yeesh.
And yea I understand not reading everything that's understandable especially with the long vids you put out and still keeping them edited, I was more asking for more time so we(specifically myself if I'm honest lol) could pause and read take the ending with the pirates there. Sure it didn't add much but I would of liked to read the two paragraphs you instantly skipped through without a thought lol I'm a fast ish reader I think but not that fast. Since it's text I just want to make clear that I don't take any of this personally and I do enjoy discussing character choices and reasoning them out. It's fun!
That's a massive reach and assumption based off one interaction you don't agree with my choices for. Did this take place in a critical moment where we needed just exact obedience? No, not at all. If it happened in a situation like that, then yes, clamp down. You said it yourself, it was trivial. Your example isn't applicable because nothing of what has happened has translated to some negative event on the battlefield which is where it matters. You also have to consider that this is NOT the Imperial Guard anymore, in fact we're a sort of quasi-lord over a people who live in the ship. In this case, Gideon perceived that if someone like that young officer would risk her literal life to come talk to him then it had to be important. Gideon would repudiate a bog standard leader who would just have her executed or locked away.
Oh I see, that interaction. I'll do my best to give a little bit more time if it's plot heavy. My voice was giving out at that point so I felt like I had to wrap it up. I totally get wanting more time to read. I hope for the episode today that I put out, I don't skip anything important. Sometimes there's a lot of dialogue fluff, so I'll just try to pick out what might be important to read just so I can preserve my voice. I feel like I'm narrating an audiobook, haha.
@@SurrealBeliefs yea I understand, I thought you weren't taking it personally and neither do I. It's good to discuss and quite a few times I've gotten ideas from talks like this with others. Hell it was your paladin that had me once more trying to actually play a good character for once in RP which led to some funny moments.
And yea that makes sense he's on his ship waiting to arrive at a spot and in the privacy of his bridge, i get now why you weren't to harsh. If I ever get the game I suppose I'll have to find out what happens if one acts differently myself which is the beauty of games like this. You can watch someone but still play it and have a completely different experience.
