I slowly reach out my hand towards his.
“YES, YES!” Cardlin starts to get louder in excitement.
I place my hand in his, the perfect place to focus my energy. I jump over his head as I transform.
“What?!” Cardlin says in disbelief.
I yell over my shoulder, “Well if you knew black magic is real, you must have known witches exist! Haha!”
I run though the crack in the barn door I left open before he pushed me into the corner.
I continue to run until I’m behind some corn. It’s getting hard to see in the dim light of the sunset; he won’t be able to see a black cat in the corn, but he will see the glowing green eyes. My eyes will give away my spot, so my only choice is to close my eyes and hope he doesn’t see me.
“Baaaabbbyyyyyyy... I just wanted to be with you forever. That’s all! It would all be done in love. We could be together forever...” He walks closer to me. “Doesn’t that sound wonderful... Being together with your soul mate until the ends of time, or maybe-maybe even longer baaabbbyyyy.”
I hear his footsteps continue towards me. I try to quiet my breathing but it doesn’t seem to work, I’m panicking to hard.
As the footsteps stop in front of me I was sure I’d be caught. I continue to breathe harder and harder. I’m worried he’ll hear it.
“Oh, f**k,” he whispered, “I’M COMING TO FIND YOU! I KNOW THIS CORN FEILD LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND!” The yells continue to get fainter as he runs farther and farther away. “THEN WE CAN FINALLY HAVE A CIVIL CONVERSATION ABOUT THIS!”
The cornfield will hopefully keep him away for a while. I transform into a cow to fly back home.
I guess this cow was afraid for the scarecrow after all.
