- In 2003, Aaron Boone became a Yankee legend despite never playing a full season with the team. His walk-off home run in game 7 of the ALCS sent the Yankees to the World Series and the Red Sox home. But sometimes, it takes a lot of little things to make something big happen. So, lets take a look at the little things that made this moment possible.

The amount of talented players involved in this game is mind boggling
Jack Thomas the Yankees weren't spending 15% of their payroll on A-rod yet, and David Ortiz was really just starting to make his name known.
Ugh I know! Like nothing but all stars. Awesome series awesome rivalry
Two very good teams
Because these teams are willing to spend money. Unlike 2/3 of the teams where their billionaire owners cry poverty
What was really heartbreaking about this year was that the Chicago Cubs were also making a hard drive towards their first World Series appearance in a while, but would wind up losing the NLCS. We could have had a Red Sox-Cubs series in 2003 with both teams getting a chance to break their respective curses. It could have been one of the greatest World Series of all time.
That would be the next insight 2003 NLCS and the Cubs fan who became infamious.
not to mention that it was the 100th world series
the script was RIGHT THERE
@@thedude3065 It wouldn't have been the 100th world series it would have been the 100th year of world series, the 1904 and 1994 world series weren't played, so the 2003 world series would have been the 98th time
Yeah but the Marlins kicking down the door, punching the Yankees in the nuts to snatch the world series, then dipping back into irrelevancy is pretty great on it's own right.
cubs-red sox would have been cool though yeah
@@chicagosportsfan5406 damn so 2005 was actually the hundredth? I mean That’s kinda disappointing, at least the White Sox broke their curse.
Can we talk about Joe Buck calling this game like he’s in a library?
I HATE Joe Buck!!!...Every play called with equivalent dullness. And the non-stop lecturing about Pedro - both before and after he tossed Zimmer. The Sox Yanks in '03 and '04 were greatest series-es of all time and they could have been better with a decent announcer.
And how Bret Boone just sat silent
Eat fresh-Millar hits one to left field!
Yeah yeah all of his play calling before about 2010 sucked we all know this.
Worst commentator EVER
This is becoming my favorite series of all time!
Brennan Beyer it’s because of jon
Nothing will ever beat chart party
it's great, but it's not pretty good
Jarred Vanhorn I agree
HOW DARE YOU SIR
I love that last sentence.. The Red Sox broke the curse of the Bambino in 2004 and ruined my damn life... I FEEL your pain. I am a LIFELONG Yankees fan.
Yeah the literal last thing anyone was thinking was “oh yeah, that Boone guy is gonna be the manager later!” 😂
Quan Rock that one HR gave Boone life long yankee cred he is the Bucky Dent of 2000s Red Sox fans
these games were mentally/emotionally exhausting to watch live and there were so many of them.
I swear the 2003 LCS was absolutely insane. Not only was there this series, but there was also the series between Florida and Chicago. Both were incredible series.
Dare i say it... Rewind is “Pretty Good”
Undefeated And Undisputed Chael Sonnen id say its pretty “Chart Party” honestly
Undefeated And Undisputed Chael Sonnen it’s not pretty good its Rewind
Undefeated And Undisputed Chael Sonnen Your such a dork
...town
The play that landed Aaron Boone a coaching job more than 15 years later.
The 2003 ALCS was one of the greatest playoff series of all time.
3:22 RadioShack handing out free tickets to the World Series for life, haha.
Jon Bois would catch that detail in a heartbeat.
Brother Panda No wonder they filed for bankruptcy
Sorry who is Jon Bois
@@therealrobin8128 The God of SB Nation
Baseball is my favorite sport. I like the way they hit up and down the court.
Charlie Cairone lol good one . I don't hate baseball but man is it sooo boring xD
Genesis Exdous Baseball is the best sport
its not a court, its a field
Damn woooooooooooosh
Damn you aren't to smart .. are ya ??
You need to make this series a regular one. Hands down each episode is way better than what ESPN is currently broadcasting
Guess what-- it is.
All I remember from this night is this exact moment. Watching the game at my best buds house and calling this home run. Some how I knew he was going to smack that out the park!
Makartel New York u loser
Please do David Freese’s walk off home run in game 6 of the 2011 world series
ZICKY D please no I’m a fragile rangers fan
Yes please do!
that’s a good one
Totally agree! that game was great from start to finish, one of the best baseball games ever.
ZICKY D good call 🤙
The Marlins have never had more fans outside of South Florida than they had in Boston after this series. Josh Beckett basically won the Series for Boston twice - 07 and 03 lol.
I'm a Sox fan. This is still painful to watch. And yet... your kickass "VHS Tape Rewinder Shaped Like A Sweet Corvette" fills me with determination and gives me life.
The fact that this series can take a moment I had never heard of nor cared about, and proceed to give me goose bumps when that moment is shown at the end of the video is pretty freakin special. Keep up the good work!
I'd like to suggest the Scott Hatteberg home run for 20 in a row. I think that could be interesting discussing the huge blown lead in the game, close calls in the streak, and how the A's obtained key players.
Yankees or red Sox fan 03 and 04 were fantastic series to watch they had it all!
I don’t even watch baseball and this gave me goosebumps. Jeez rlly wish I watch much more tho. Plsss more rewinder it’s amazingggg
No greater rivalry in sports than the Red Sox and the Yankees
Maybe Lakers n Celtics.......naw
Yes there is auburn vs Alabama and man utd vs man city
Avs vs Wings.
Madrid and barcelona lol
El Classico???
I know they won in 09, but this was really the last moment of the Yankees being the Yankees and dominating Boston.
Well the yanks also went up 3-0 the next year and won game 3 by double digit runs.
@@alwillk yeah and then they blew it
Landon Donovan's goal in 2010 against Algeria deserves a rewind
I remember watching this HR as a kid live....one of the greatest baseball moments I ever saw
absolutely love the rewind series
I was at game 3 with the Zimmer Brawl. Can't believe I honestly forgot Clemens and Pedro were pitching, or that the Sox lost. It was such a wild time in the rivalry.
LMFAOOO ALBERT PULJOS ON THE STUB HUB ADD , HILARIOUS
I have requested this video several times. Thank you.
no you didn't
lol too funny
I absolutely love the idea of seeing every little thing that leads up to these amazing moments. Great series please please keep them coming, especially baseball!
God. On pace for 100 wins, 15 years and 3 championships later ... and somehow... it STILL hurts.
This is an absolutely great series though. Do a hockey rewinder please!!!
TheRandomRedSoxGuy just not the Bruins blowing the 3-0 lead to the Flyers
Even then, we won the Cup the next year and swept Philly at the same stage when they were the higher seed.
lol,the 100 wins don't mean anything so far this yr but 2004 should've healed that 2003 wound lol.
Goddamn do I love this channel, beef history, dorktown, chart party! You can learn the ins and out of CZcams, you can teach editing, but the art of storytelling is special. Keep it up guys.
Wait wheres the other guy? WHY DO YOU KEEP CHANGING THE HOSTS. This guy has his own show.
I think some of the hosts are specialized on their sport?
IKR, the other guy was probably my favorite SB nation host other than Jon Bois
random_shy_guy JON BOIS FOREVER
The other guy was better
WHEN IS UFFSIDES COMING BACK?!?!?
I remember this game like if it was yesterday.. almost shed a tear from reminiscing..
Amazing video. Love this series. There are so many little details that lead up to these moments that people forget about.
Beautifully and eloquently narrated! Was gripped from start to finish!
These are AWESOME videos thankyou and keep up the good work... the allan Houston game 5 shot, the jeter/arod feud, bulls game 6 game winner etc.. all great work!
Every episode in this series is amazing. I don't care much about baseball but given the context of a major sporting event, it really helps me understand important moments in sporting history. Good job SB Nation team!!
Nicely done. The detailed context is great. So many subplots and what ifs.
homerun so good it made him the manager
The life of a Reds fan is watching your favorite players move on to do great things for other teams. I was always liked Aaron Boone and I was stoked for him after that walk off homer.
This was such a well delivered summation. Not too fast, not too slow. Very interesting storytelling.
Love these rewinds, please keep them coming
This is definitely the best non-Jon Bois related series on SB nation
These rewind videos are extremely well made, nice job guys.
I get chills when they say "Welcome to a moment in history"
Such a great series, please keep it going
Still gives me chills, LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!
Yankees suck. Go SOX
@@briantneary2248 27
@@JayJoe1984 you say that like it matters. Last time I checked idiot Yankee fans have been yelling that number for a while and it hasn't changed😂😂
Watched it live when I was 12, still gives me chills...
these are so well done
Joe carters World Series walk off please!!
Alexander Gilles Carter’s or Luis Gonzales’ hit in 2001
Gonzo's hit is included in this series.
/watch?v=E_PEGsCxMb4
4 months late to comment, but the Joe Carter HR has been rewound.
So you turned one of the most heartbreaking sports moments of my childhood into a great episode of a great show... somehow.
This is an amazing series. Keep it up.
Great recap!
Pedro throwing him to the ground had the same effect as when daddy slaps mommy at the dinner table. Everyone stops real quick, gets quite, and finishes what they're doing in a somber mood just wanting to get done and go to their room and stare at the wall
These videos are really really great this channel has a good future.
Best series! The setup is everything
please post more baseball rewinds, but i have fallen in love with this series no matter what
2018 New York Yankees. Canyon of HEROS
I remember watching this with my dad in the living room. Good times. Go Yankees
I always look forward to these rewind videos. Keep it up
You gotta do the Red Sox vs Yankees 2004 ALCS. Especially the game 4 steal. That was a magical moment.
this was so awesome and done very well! more would be great
I was 13 watching this game thinking I'd be young forever. Now I'm 27 turning 28... Maaaaan I'm getting old.
Maybe my favorite sports game of all
Time, I still remember where I was and who I was with when I saw this lol
I know you've already done a Giants rewind which I feel blessed to get to see. But consider looking at Travis Ishikawa's walk-off Homer in Game 6 of 2014 NLCS and his connection to the 2010 team.
i remember this as a Yankee fan . i was 5 turning 6 years old 2 days after this game
it was early birthday present for me 😂 was born October 18 , 1996
Edgar Renteria's '97 World Series hit in Game 7 please. That deserves a rewind
FinsWins10 he also had the last AB in the 2004 WS
@@counterfit5 and one in 2010 against Texas
In 2003, I was convinced that if the World Series was going to be a Red Sox vs Cubs series, the world would most definitely end...
Thank goodness for Aaron Boone and Steve Bartman!
Alex Gonzalez*
Lmao. I actually believed the same thing
The empire will rise again. Yankee's 2018 champs
this really is one of the best episodes
This series is incredibly well edited!
To the Guys & gals of the channel. Love your work!
Awesome video.
Rewinder gives me chills!!
very well done!!
Great series love em
Nice. Sweet memories.
Lebron’s block on Iguodala in the 2016 NBA Finals game 7 deserves a rewind
the block (lebron) the stop (love) and the shot (Kyrie) all deserve a rewind imo.
I love this series!!!
It's simple I see a beef or a rewinder video and I like it.
Did should make the best videos hope you keep them coming thanks for the great content
You gotta do Red Sox vs Yankees ALCS 2004 especially game 4. That was the most intense game ever. Everyone in the world knew Roberts was going to try and steal second. You could feel the tension just from your TV screen. That led to the greatest comeback in baseball history and one of the best ALCS games ever. It was beautiful. Also the A-Rod sissy slap 😂
I love this homer. It was the beginning of the story of the 2004 Red Sox.
Stood on bleachers for over an hour! There was SOMETHING in the air! Unforgettable ❤️✔️
The 2004 ALCS needs a Deep Rewind
And I’m a Yankees fan.
Thanks, Gradie
i have literally no understanding of baseball and even I find this video delightful
Surely a rewinder for Dave Roberts and Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. I know it wasn't a walk off, but it began the greatest comeback in North American professional sports....
Even though it's been 20 years and we've got more than a few World Series under our belts now, as a Red Sox fan this moment still hurts. This was the first one of their heartbreaking moments that I was alive to see.
Freaking Grady Little.
This. Is. Awesome!
Wow a Yankees rewind? Never thought I'd see it from this channel.
This video gave me chills. Thanks (in a good way)
One of the best games ever considering the people involved and the storylines.
I really want to see them do the save the pacers telethon in 1977. I realize it probably isn't that big of a deal to most sports fans and I'm biased because I am a pacers fan myself, but I think it's an incredible moment in sports history that not a lot of people are actually aware of unless they grew up in Indianapolis, or is a hard core pacers fan.
Being from Boston, this hurts a lot less knowing the success the sox had after this.
But, man.....
This hurt. Aaron f@#$ing Boone
I spent a lot of money of tickets between these two teams, back then
goosebumps.
wow! great job well done.
Ok. That’s great. Now can you do Dave Robert’s steal? Then we’ll call it even.
