- This is what finding out the day's football scores was like in the early 90s, folks. Bob Wilson presents on Saturday, 21st September 1991, and we start with the aftermath of the Davis Cup tennis and its post-match interviews (Barry Davies talking to Jeremy Bates and Nick Brown) before Murray Walker gives us his report on the F1 qualifying from Estoril.
And then it's on to the football, going around the grounds to hear some of the latest, all before it's time for the oh-so-hi-tech vidiprinter. You'll note a big win for Man Utd, who were beginning to get it together around this time, while Liverpool were rapidly on the slide after their years of domination. I'm sure the irony won't be lost on many that, while they were busy losing 1-0, Peter Beardsley was occupying himself by scoring a hat-trick for Everton. I've never been able to get my head around that particular transfer. Of course, it was Leeds Utd who went on to win the title that season. I also love the fact that Ayr scored 7 (seven).
Many thanks to Ben for sending me this recording.

This sure bring back the memories !!
great memories, thanks!
back in the days then BBC got more sport
I never cared about sports but I liked the sound as the letters appeared.
The vidiprinter was _so_ high-tech back then. Absolutely hypnotic!
Was Peter Beardsley not effectively shut out of Anfield when Dean Saunders arrived?
I don't remember exactly - something to do with Souness trying to revitalise an ageing squad, I think - but I know which one I'd rather have in my team. The fact that Beardsley was a big part of Newcastle's title challenges a good five years later makes it make even less sense to me.

I meant to ask, do you have the rest of the final scores ?
No, I'm afraid this is all that was on the tape - sorry.
