- I have been itching to see my old Space sets again so I created a display for them under the city. It was a blast putting them all back together. I have a lot of great memories from my childhood with these sets. What is your favorite space sub-theme?
- Zábava
I just love the diversity in colors in these sets! They should bring these kind of space themes back, although I don't think it's going to happen soon, since Star Wars sales are doing so well.
I have an idea for a computer game for Lego Space! Maybe an RTS or a FPS? I had the idea in a dream!
Much better than an endless sea of monotone grey we see from the boring Star Wars sets. How many Millenium Falcon do we need?
UFO is still my favorite line of all time. Awesome color scheme, minifigs, and spacecraft. Very alien 90s. Love it.
UFO is your favorite? No kidding? Those were cool for sure. Very different heads pieces.
I was born in 1992 and I can tell you it's the one I can envision most in my mind during my childhood. I remember having the minifigs too.
@adamackanin UFO, Insectoids and Blacktron I & 2 were the fricking best.
Anyone else marvelling at the SHINE coming off those sets under the bright lights?
They should reboot those themes, along with other space themes.
Yes please!
With the vintage box looks too
@@Azborn88 Yeah!
They started something like this!
Especially the ufo series lbs
Looking at this just gives me a warm feeling. Good memories browsing through the Lego magazines in the 90s as a kid and being amazed by all the great pictures of the sets they had back then. And the white, blue and translucent orange of Ice Planet 2002 is just something special!
Same feelings here! :) I loved those set photos in the '90s catalogues, especially the space and castle themed ones.
Ahh my M-Tron and Blacktron 2 childhood! Unfortunately my mom could mostly only afford a few of the little sets. I did have the large 6 wheeled Blacktron vehicle and it was understandably the crown jewel of my limited collection. Good times.
The nostalgia I just experienced...was very powerful. Wow! Great collection!
Nice collection!
Remind me in childhood ❤ spend so much time & money in this Lego sets
Nice throwback of your collection to your youth.
Mine was the 70’s and 80’s and I had as many of those sets as you had of yours ....great to enjoy - yesteryear.
The "saucer centurion" set 6939 was epic for me as a kid. It could drop a robot in a small quad like machine while flying. It slid open!
Oh man you gave me so many happy memories, I had a ton of these smaller to mid sets over the years. It’s so cool to see them all built. I used to read Lego magazines over and over and over in the 90s just looking at the sets since I couldn’t afford them but it made me happy. Keep up the awesome work!
Those M-Tron pieces bring back memories. When I was in elementary school, one of the classes had a Lego bin and within that bin were M-Tron pieces that I used to make a soccer/football league along with the soccer/football pieces. Love the space monorail but I prefer the superior Airport Shuttle
Same here. My third grade teacher had the M-Tron, I loved it. One of the coolest sets to this day. I was also a big fan of ice planet
Growing up on Star trek I loved UFO. Such great memories
So Ice Planet was my childhood but man I also had that little saucer scout too. Completely forgot, you just made this grown man yell "oh my god! I remember that" at his screen haha.
Ice Planet and UFO were my two favourite Lego Space series! So much nostalgia! M-Tron also had these great bombastic vehicles!
Now that’s a lot of dusting! Brill sets :)
I have a lot of nostalgia for the early 90s LEGO space themes. My older brother was 6 when blacktron 2 and 8 when ice planet came out. He had the galactic scout, allied avenger, ice tunnelator, celestial sled, and ice-sat v. I miss all the creative backstories LEGO used to tell in catalogues. I love the creative stories behind the vintage space themes post classic space era. I definitely prefer the space themes after classic space because although they don’t provide as much sense of wonder about the universe beyond earth, IMO they provide a better sense of wonder about what humans can do if they moved on from earth. The classic space sets were used to make scientific predictions about astronomical technology but post classic space gives thought to what if humans formed separate civilisations. How would we maintain togetherness while living apart in a vacuum and what if criminal activity blossoms in a time of living in and trying to maintain a lunar economy from exploration and prospecting
2:02 I built 6949 for my 5th birthday when that set dropped! I was so stoked and I remember my dad wanting me to try bigger feats if I could build that one haha I loved that goofy robot
This was my era. Classic
These space and sub themes were by far my favorite Lego sets.
My Dad and Aunt were born in the early 70s and have a ton of the original Blacktron, Classic and Space police 1 sets including the main blacktron 1 base! I’ve been collecting legos myself for nearly 15 years now and It’s still one of my favorites.👍
omg i get so nostalgic seeing all those sets, love it
I love these themes so much. So fun to see such a large collection of all of them! I have a few of them, but no where near the number that you do!
Dman... the nostalgia. Do you also have some of the old castle and pirates sets? Love to see those too
Cool. It’s nice that you have cleaned them they all look as if you just bought them. Looks great 👍 Alex.
You just gave me an idea for a switcharoo I was working on. I had the minifigure set that had Two M-Tron, Two Blacktron 2, a Blacktron 1, and a Space Police 1 figure. A already had a the small Space Police Peacekeeper ship, but had lost the Blacktron 1 figure which came with it. The spare from the figure set replaced that one. And, I didn't have a need for the second space police, but I did want a Futuron representative. What few sets I had of Futuron were long gone, same with the figures. But, with the swap of legs, helmet and arms, the lone space police figure could become a Black-suit Futuron figure. I even had a spare trans-blue vizor lying around. But the helmet and arms were either gonna come from one of the Blacktron guys or the M-Tron Guys. (I have the Space Police II Peacekeeper upgrade in the Rebel Runner, and it came with a Blacktron II figure.)
Seeing those white Helmet M-Tron guys in the back, I may emulate that. I even have a black vizor lying around from a city racer figure. Just need a white Air tank pack. I'll have a Futuron figure and a cool alternate for the M-Tron. Or maybe Blacktron II.
haha I remember these, especially the alien ufos. Use to fantasize owning them all by looking at the lego catalogues that the sets provided. Never seen them out as whole like this :) Still think they are one of the coolest lego sets.
Oh dude this brings back so many nice memories! I still have those sets, not all ofcourse, but of every theme I had some.
I am crying, I had to set of the Blacktron and I loved them so much.
As a child i lpayed with the MTron 6x6 Mobile base a lot. my alltime favorite !
Thank you so much for making this! I just had a blast down my childhood dreams!
my childhood. i am absolutely floored with nostalgia.
Ice planet and UFO were two of my favorites growing up though I'm sure I would have grown on the earlier releases of the space themes of the '80s if I was around at the time I was born in 1989
Dang this brings me back. Spirus was my favorite. But man all of these were my childhood. Thanks for this!
Fantastic collection. I'm gonna dig out my old catalogues and reminisce. Never owned any as a kid but love the different factions they had. The big spyruis Spy Robot is something I'd love to have.
Exploriens once were my crush when I was a kid (11yo back in 1996). Well, I did not have them at a time, they were too expensive in our location. But I have now a plan to collect them lol
born 1990 i barely missed the ice planet theme and i was sad about that because to me that was one of the coolest theme ever. i think everyone fondly remembers the GODDAMN ORANGE CHAINSAWS!!!
This takes me back to my '90s childhood too, I only ever had a few small pocket-sized sets but I did have a couple of large Spyrius sets (6949 Robo-Guardian & 6939 Saucer Centurion).
I have the monorail base and it is still one of my favorite sets!
Idk why but every time I watch ur intro I feel like something bigs gonna happen and I get all hyped up. But u definitely deliver every time 👍
This is insanely beautiful 😍
My childhood. Hell yeah!! Nice collection dude
Had them all.
That's an awesome collection.
dude thank so much for these. I remember back then the m:trom and B mega sets were the most expensive toy in my town (only sold in 1 mall, the fanciest one) and everytime I was there I could only look at them. not much of a difference now :))
This video is like a follow up to RETROBLASTING's video about LEGO Classic space.
Thanks for the history lesson. I only own one set from the video.
The Warp Wing Fighter from U.F.O. is my favorite LEGO set of all time.
So many cool themes I did not know about. I knew about some of them, but they were alsmost all released during my period of "not being interested in Lego". I remember one of the last Space sets I bought was first generation Blacktron I think. One black clad astronaout with black helmet. Loved that dude.
Just started building my own Mars base, great inspirational ships and bases Alex
They took me back
Fantastic display! Maybe this would be the perfect moment to display Benny's SPACESHIP! and his space squad in this scene. :-)
that's a good idea. He would be right at home.
Just got a lot of the blacktron future generation and space police sets from my grandparents basement when they were planning to move. Had to check out the history on them.
the ole tri-wheel was my second lego ever :D begged for it cuz both my older brothers had other black tron sets and I wanted one too!
I remember playing with these sets when i was at my cousins house. He had gotten older at the time and wasn’t using his legos anymore. I still regret not asking if i could buy some off him ir something. Loved thefluo green glass pieces.
I felt like I was watching Discovery/History/Sci-fi/How’sThatMade episode which is great! I like those kinds of shows. It’s very informative and entertaining at the same time. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks, Kim! These type of videos take a little longer to make, but it is fun to see the final product.
Yes, it’s one of those videos that would still be good to watch years after it’s been released.
Time to encapsulate that space.
I remember the fun with the mtron big miner vehicle and the large space police flying vehicle.
I wanna say i remember having the xwing.
All of these have been lost to time.
Love those space themes
wow - now that's a lot of Blacktron sets :D
damn i dont know why it never occurred to me to get copies of sets i already had when i was growing up...
Man, this is so much MORE than "star wars".
When Lego tried to be original, and fulfilling.
I hope lego will do more Alien/Space theme in the future.
Cool setup btw!
Man, I really love lego 90s space which I started collecting.
You literally have my entire childhood on display! 😭 Thats my dream collection! I actually only had the celestial forager from M-Tron, I had all of the spyrious sets, a few of those blacktron sets, the Unitron main ship and vehicle and a few UFO... god I’m i literally exploding with nostalgia watching this video!
It sounds like you had a great childhood. Too bad it's nothing but Star Wars sets these days.
@@alexnunes that's very tru
Alex Nunes Yeah seriously... while I love Star Wars and get lots of those sets now... miss those other space sets. It was such a great time for LEGO
We always pronounced the group as "Spy-Rye-Ans" from "Spy-Rye-Us" which sounded cooler for some reason!
My first ever Lego model was the M-Tron vehicle on the left at 1:12! :-D
that looks awesome and I bet The citizens of mindyapolis would be surprised to know that they live over a huge underground space world
These are way cooler than anything lego produces currently
love style of this video
I own every insectoids and UFO series and a few space police and exploriens sets, never had them as a kid because we was kinda poor, however im 51 now so caught up on my youth.. nearly 😃
thank you
What an awesome collection Alex! I have a few sets, mainly Unitron and UFO. I do have the Unitron monorail 😃 Very lucky.
Great sets for sure. You are very fortunate to have that monorail. Pretty rare now
I really wish lego would reboot space. I like Star Wars, but these old sets stoked the imagination far more.
me too, I wish this a lot, but sadly Star Wars is just too popular right now.
UFO 97 was the pinneacle! 😍
have parts of some of them but nothing hole yet. thanks for the look at them.
I had one of those UFO fighters Brings back memories I would like to get another one if possible
I wish LEGO would go back to these kind of sets. They were affordable (compared to the way to expensive modern sets) and playable at the same time. Would totally by one of these, if LEGO would invent some new Space Theme Sets (for a fair price)
I had that three wheel vehicle but i donated all my legos to orphanage.
I would send you if i knew.
I don't know how I never saw blacktron. Know and love everything on the table but blacktron is a complete blank. Anyway, that 3-part cockpit opening concept at 3:07 is incredible
Looks like someone had a main faction based on the size of that Blacktron 2 army... I'm the slightest bit jealous, those guys REALLY sweep with that colorscheme
3:51 - my fav space police set :)
80's Blacktron ftw!
the motor also died in mine :( Great collection!
I've just started getting spyrius and UFO sets as I love both themes, even though they were before my time
Star wars sets are pretty good of course, but these were my childhood
Great selection you have there and almost the entire space theme also. I have all of M-Tron, Blacktron 2, Space Police 1&2, Unitron, Double and triple of Spyrius, UFO and Insectoids. I only have 3 small Ice Plant 2002 sets and would like to have more but the bigger ones are very pricy. I have only 4 Blacktron sets 1 and the new remake. With Futuron I only need 3 more for completion but I only want the monorail because the other two small sets look very unappealing. I never got interested in Explorians and Space Police 3 is kind of similar on colors and I am collecting those sets instead but make them more Futuron like. I do agree with you that classic space looks outdated and pricy for decent condition but the new Galaxy Explorer update is definitely a way for Lego to bring back that theme with new models/molds. You should give Galaxy Squad a look and maybe some Futuron sets.
Very interesting
I really miss the bright neon colors LEGO used to have
Looks much better than all the Starwars spaceships tbh.
I am 13 and love buying theese at my local LEGO store my Favorite theme is spirus
Mmm... M-tron, just my dream!
00:24
I had one of those at the back. The one with two cockpits.
Well technically I still have it as the parts and the instructions should be around here somewhere...
Cool collection. Did you ever get any of the Insectoids sets? I thought the bug and space mix was pretty cool.
Cool ABO :-)
I'm fan of this era, I have a few of those sets including one monorail but is hard to get it all for the actual price
My favorite thing about this era is how easy it is to build your own ships and bases with the pieces. By and large every piece was basic and generic enough to be repurposed for all kinds of great space related ideas me and my buddies came up with.
I miss Lego space. They haven't made any scifi space themes since Galaxy Squad, and that was what, 5 years ago?
Hi Alex, I've got 6896!
I've just built it a few weeks ago for my son!
Rock riders its so cool too :)
I hope you can show up on the news again
