- LEGO Space Police, a theme that lived on store shelves from 2009 to 2010 is a very special theme. It was the third edition of this now classic LEGO space property, and saw LEGO create a certified heater of a space theme, one that has captured the hearts and minds of an entire generation of LEGO fans.

I love Space Police, it’s such an interesting subtheme of space. The aliens and vehicles brought so much to the table, no wonder I enjoyed this theme so much as a child and continue to now. I love all the lore contained within the theme. I own every set, it is a wonderful collection. Great video Richie!
Thanks for sharing TJ - you certainly got a great collection. I just wish there were more location sets
Space Police 3 is how to do a revamp of a theme right: it brought back what made the originals special - prison pods, modular vehicles, Interstellar conflict - while also adding its own flair - more diverse aliens and criminals, transforming sets, unique part usages, and a wider range of vehicles and playsets for both good and bad guys. And they even added the anniversary of LEGO in Space in there as a fun nod. This felt like a true evolution of Space up to that point. The color scheme didn't come off as "City but in space" but more like Futuron-inspired upgrading.
Yeah I noticed this after getting some old space sets, this and mars mission capture the modular, full of detail and unexpected playfeatures classic space had
I thought with the title like that you're gonna mention the fact that all policemen are humans, while all the criminals are aliens, which is... weird to say the least
I remember that being controversial but really what if in this universe, aliens simply commit more crime? Though really I just think this particular gang only has aliens which mirrors real life gangs
ACAB includes the LEGO Space Police
@@shoelessbandit1581 Did you know that Martians commit 50% of all crimes within the colony while only making up 13% of its Population?
Unbuild all the XENOS.
Space Police 3 is a heater theme! Definitely the best Space theme ever!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching
Kinda shame you didn't mentioned the specisim as joke
Because the police has only Alien crimals (thoug their is a concept with a human criminel)
If there is ever a Space Police 4 I would love to see Aliens also on the Space Police side in addition to being the enemies
I guess you can already kind of do that, put alien heads on Space Police bodies and say they're of the same race as the criminals, but on the other side of the law
Who’s the real villain? Star Wars and the like. Licensed themes that make you pay more and limit your creativity and Imagination.
It is a dangerous world out there. But not when you have pawns to do all the dirty work!
Brick Daddy, I'm one of your biggest fans!
3:56 That's not a jetpack on the minfig's back, it's compressed air for breathing.
Pretty sure there’s a product photo that treats that piece like a jet pack.
@@allthedumbthingz-oc5cc Which would be weird since they've had jetpack pieces since the 80s which look completely different from the compressed air cylinders in that photo.
The Lunar Limo set includes a Space Police officer that has no vehicle. The set’s box art depicts him as using the tank as a jetpack.
Brick Daddy is basically a pimp 😆
that's probably the most sexually explicit lego has gotten so far
Brick Daddy was chill like that 🥶🥶🥶
Slave princess Leia doesnt exist??@@oliverpuppetproductions8753
Whats that supposed to mean HUH?
@@Mr_G_Daddy brick daddy drives a purple car and dresses like a pimp. He could just be a crime lord that likes to look flashy for the ladies????
I think it's funny that the latest sp was gonna have punk esque human figs for criminals too but the children in the playtest said the aliens were more recognizable as the villains
While it would make the rogues gallery more diverse, having people in the punk subculture as villains would only intensify the authoritarian connotations.
Only think I am kinda disappointed you didn’t mention was how the Space Police was portrayed in the Lego shorts and how some of their lines appeared in the movie Adventures of clutch powers
I wish there had been another wave with references to Spyrius. As to your question of who the Space Police are, your complaint has been logged citizen.
Haha - love this comment. Thanks for giving your 2 cents.
We need themes like this one to come back one day
This was peak Lego. You don't get themes like this anymore because Lego seems to only like licensed themes these days.
This just isn't true. Have you seen Dreamzz? Or the stuff they're doing with modern space?
@@lynnlantern7513 dreamzz is ass and is selling EXTREMELY poorly. Lego will have it cancelled in a month. Modern space is cool but it’s still a shell of its former self and closer to city than anything. Plus that’s only 2 unlicensed themes compared to back when Lego would have like 10 unlicensed themes selling at the same time. Atlantis, space police, castle, bionicle, Pharaohs quest, exo force, racers, agents, adventures, Wild West, (this list could go on for paragraphs) ALL gone simply because Star Wars and Harry Potter makes more money. Ninjago and monkey kid are the only major non licensed themes that sell well but Ninjago is stale as hell and monkey kid is only sold at Lego stores at least in the US.
@@lynnlantern7513 Oh wow. TWO themes, one of which sells horribly and will probably be canceled in a month. Vs the countless hundreds of other themes that have been canceled in favor of Harry Potter and Star Wars.
Space Police III was my childhood. I had a few of the villain sets but my favorite was the Lunar Limo. I recently dug out the pieces and I rebuilt the set mostly. I want to rebuild the rest I had and id like to get the rest of the sets.
By far one of legos best themes
I remember buying a lot of these space police sets in hopes of collecing all the alien criminals as a kid. good times.
Yoooo this is so much nostalgia right here. These were some of my favorite sets as a kid. So glad the CZcams algorithm blessed me with this trip down memory lane.
I'm glad this video is getting to the right audience. That's what I like to hear. What other themes would you like me to cover going forward?
2:42 I think that’s the LEGO Town/City shipping logo, not the classic space one. The big giveaway is the grid pattern not on the original classic space logo.
Woah! That's TRUE! - makes a lot more sense, in terms of any lore, too. Seems the Space Police are protecting a civilization that, is in some way, connected to LEGO City. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
7:00 Craniac has by far the coolest sci-fi gun I've ever seen, one with a _laser_ axe blade attached to it, I never forgot that when I first saw the leaks back in late 2009.
There were lego leaks all the way back in the late 2000s? I mean, I guess that makes sense, given when I started going online in the early 2010s I was quickly introduced to leak content...
wow. that must have been so cool. seeing these sets before they even appeared in catalogs or hit store shelves. that's beautiful
This is my most nostalgic and favorite space theme! I love all the sets, minifigures and lore!
It was so special. Any other themes you’d like to see me cover?
I see you already covered few of my favorites! I'm glad I found your channel thanks to this video, I really enjoyed the style of it so I will definitelly watch your other videos! 😁
I was IN LOVE with this theme when I was kid, especially with the first wave in 2009. I remember being 8 years old in the summer playing the space police games Lego had on their website or reading about it in the club magazine which my mom got me a monthly subscription for. I absolutely loved the small set with the orange alien on the his futuristic motorcycle.
We really had it so good with the LEGO Club magazines and all the games and other interactive content on the website. Might have to make a video on how special LEGO's marketing was back in the day
wait wait..there a whole 3rd WAVE i didnt somehow know about??!?! looks like im adding more sets to the wishlist! thanks for the great vid man!
Fascinating. So far I've been able to find lore and hints linking almost every Lego Space theme into the same canonical universe. Still trying to loop in Life on Mars and U.F.O.
I'd love to see a look into the lore of the weird scorpion cult that seems to be lurking in the castle themes, and possibly other themes like Adventurers.
I do like how Lego tends to build on their themes and expand them as they go on. Starting off with just human factions but then expanding to aliens as humanity delves deeper into the unknown. I always figured the Space Station setup was the where the criminals operated out of kind of like the Citidel of Ricks. And the Space Police setting up a precinct there was their way routing the crooks from their final foothold.
Also I couldn't believe it, at 1:34 is the face print I use for my sigfig! I didn't know it went back that far, I thought it was in Ultra Agents only. It's odd looking into Lego and seeing yourself looking back.
Thanks for making these. I was 10 in 2009 and have memories with this plus atlantis and power miners etc. I wish they brought back non licensed themes. Nowadays its almost all licensed apart from Ideas and city
These nonevergreen unlicensed themes were really special. I plan on covering Atlantis in the near future. That was my favorite from the era. Glad you enjoyed the video, means a lot.
Miss this theme! Great video as always bro!🔥
Thanks, Brickman!
I mainly collect star wars and marvel lego, but I think my most favorite themes besides that are definitely space police and power miners.
Definitely my favorite Lego theme, I scoured the aftermarket to collect all of the aliens I didn’t have as a kid, and it’s totally my prized Lego possession lol
Space police 3 is one of the rare themes were the minifigures are just as good as the sets instead of being inferior or superior. For example Star Wars is in favour of the minifigures but mars mission was in favour of the builds. All from the same era the sets and minifigures are both collectible. I wish LEGO would bring back fantasy space to compete with civilian city space
This was an interesting video to find. My brother had a few of these sets so I remember them quite well.
Surprised you didnt bring up the space police logs. Those included most of the lore. Most interestingly the ice cream stand one where the alien wasnt even doing anything and they arrested him.
Even the short films I got in clutch powers DVD movie actually terrified me
Fav LEGO theme of all time! The Squidtron set went so hard
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing this theme and it’s sets, especially having passed on it at the time. The aliens were so cool.
Thanks for the support, PBJ. Sorry to hear you missed out on it - perhaps this vid will influence a purchase?
Imperial March/Darth Vader’s theme intensify
“ first the resistance and then the (new) Republic
The skull intercepter was my favorite. Differently a set I wish I still had 🤧
Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoyed the lookback at this fantastic theme. Any other LEGO properties you'd like for me to cover?
@@OurToyWorld mars mission, if you’ve haven’t done it already. Lot of nostalgia with that theme as well
@@Shaun_J Sounds great!
I had a space police set, the one with the skull twins, i loved police stuff as a kid and that was one awesome theme... Wish it would return, maybe it could have more lore like ninjago
I wish Space Police gets a reboot!
Exactly space police III is the Galactic Empire(Star Wars)/imperium of man(Warhammer 40,000)
The fun and funky aliens were always the best part of this theme. I liked that the stop motion animations had a more vibrant world - but it’s definitely fun to debate whether it’s more like Blade Runner, Star Trek, or Starship Troopers
With Lego City's recent venture into space, maybe we will get a new Space police.
“For Empire and emperor!”
5:55 is that Planet in the background earth? Is all this taking place in a bio dome on the moon?
I recently spent way too much money on these incredible sets
Which sets you cop?
i think the term would be “grand theft astro”
Anyone remember the animated shorts of released for this theme?
Once a four-armed alien bad guy, always a four-armed alien bad guy
How would the space police repel the Daleks (without the doctor☎️)
It always kind of bothered me that all the baddies were alien punks, while all the humans were fascist looking space cops in dark grey armour. It kind of sent a pretty bleak message. I'd have preferred a more civilian look ti the police, and think having some alien cops and human robbers, plus bystanders of types, would have sent a better message. The designs are all great though.
Thanks for the take - the lack of bystanders is quite interesting. IIRC I heard somewhere that there were supposed to be alien cops too, at first, but that the kids that played with the toys in study groups preferred it to be humans vs aliens.
Actually, during the theme's development, they tested sets with a mix of human/alien police and criminals, but kids would always make the aliens the bad guys, so Lego decided to run with that idea.
@@crimsong8068 Hey, thanks for confirming and providing additional detail - appreciate it big time
@@crimsong8068 Oh dear, that's somewhat depressing.
Thanks for the info though!
@@OurToyWorld What a shame.
“ Lord Vader will make those traitors pay“
Buen video 👌
i have the undercover space police and the space police station that's all out of that lineup i was able to get.
Woah- that's sick.
i have re-got the 2010 Police Station on eBay some pieces missing but i can find those Lego pieces buy those pieces on finding those pieces i was a moron who sadly took apart the 1st 2010 police set/city and exactly a few yrs back took apart the hole set for parts because i needed more to build from. recently like i said re-got the set and now have for most apart won't take it apart ever again i just need to have patience to getting more Lego apart.
Thanks for sharing- that's awesome!
MOON melting?!?
Whatever is THAT??
I also am a bit disturbed by the political implications. The Police are all "human". The bandits are all various types of "aliens".
I do believe that should be a bit more mixed!
My favourite is, and always will be, the Space Police 2. ABSOLUTELY ICONIC!
Though seeing the working flashing lights from the very original series is also pretty unique and absolutely badass.
I don't give a rat's ass about the third version.
Hoping for a return of something more akin to CLASSIC Space.
Thankfully it's very obvious LEGO has not exactly forgotten about that. ;)
Space Police 2 is pretty awesome. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the pros and cons of the line. Perhaps I'll have to make a video on the 2nd edition of this property!
@@OurToyWorldThat'd be SO COOL!
And then do the first one next.
It'll be like travelling back in time!

Damn, It wish I could have gotten all space police the more recent sets only got 2 out of the line kept spending $$$$ shopping online having to wait to be able to buy what i wanted but was unable due to lack of money. wish i could have gotten more from space police ect. those who were able to am jealous.
They're so cool. I feel the same way!
Blacktron graffiti and uniform and insectoid logo mabye they are criminals from past wars who had to fit into new human ruled society
Love how it makes it seem like the lego space policd world is racist espically when u watch an ad and it looks like an inncoent hotdog stand owner gets in trouvle for beibg an alein 😂 messed up but only lego and funny
Great video Brick Daddy. 👍 I recently built a classic space ship moc using parts from the new space CMF line. Bfab kept saying it has heavy space police vibes. I’ll have to show you a picture of it. I just intended for it to be a mashup of all classic space. It was a fun project.
Sounds sick, thanks for sharing, and for watching!
