How to crochet basic mesh for triangular shawl? | Crochet With Samra

  • Learn how to crochet basic mesh stitch in triangular shape. You can make a shawl with the help of this tutorial.
    Using 4mm hook with 100% acrylic yarn.
    Written Pattern:
    Row 1: Ch7, dc in 1st ch.
    Row 2: Turn, ch6, dc in same st as ch6 made. Ch2, (dc, ch2, dc) in 3rd ch.
    Row 3: Turn, ch6, dc in same st as ch6 made. (ch2, dc in next dc) 2times. Ch2, (dc, ch2, dc) in 3rd ch.
    Row 4: Turn, ch6, dc in same st as ch6 made. (ch2, dc in next dc) 4times. Ch2, (dc, ch2, dc) in 3rd ch.
    Row 5: Turn, ch6, dc in same st as ch6 made. (ch2, dc in next dc) 6times. Ch2, (dc, ch2, dc) in 3rd ch.
    Row 6: Turn, ch6, dc in same st as ch6 made. (ch2, dc in next dc) 8times. Ch2, (dc, ch2, dc) in 3rd ch.
    Keep increasing on both sides in the same way to continue as long as you want.
    Abbreviations:
    ch - chain
    chs - chains
    dc - double crochet
    st - stitch
    sts - stitches

    Thank you thank you thank you! Just what I was looking for! Working out a pattern from a couple of pictures of a 70s shawl and getting the mesh right was doing my head in. But now I don't have to look anymore!

    Mine was too tight on the edges. I had to ch7 at the beginning of each row and DC, ch2, TC in 3rd ch at the end.

      Yeah sure, just do as follows: 😊
      Turn, ch4 (counts as dc), dc in next dc, (ch2, dc in next dc) across, dc in 3rd ch
      Turn, ch4, skip next dc, dc in next dc, (ch2, dc in next dc) across, skip next dc, dc in last dc
      Repeat above row
      When you reach the last row. Turn, ch3, dc in last dc skipping 2dc in between.
