Thank you for this simple & beautiful lil shawl...I'm a beginner & do appreciate you repeating each step along the way...if that was you modeling the shawl, it looks beautiful..thanks again...
I have done several of these. I do a row of single crochet around entire edge, to give it a bit of stability. A simple shawl, very appreciated in the breast cancer support group I volunteer for! Thank you for your video!
Just came across this tutorial and finished this project in two evenings. I agree, the video was super easy to follow. I’ll make another, for sure. Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this! A friend's mom made this exact shawl 30 years ago from a written pattern. When she showed me the shawl I fell instantly in love with it. She couldn't find the pattern so I decided to do a youtube hunt, and voila here it is. I can't wait to try this out! :)
I just finished this shawl. Your tutorial was perfect. I'm just getting back to crochet after many years and your instructions were so helpful and easy to understand. I was very glad you made it clear about marking the rows. It would have gone all wrong had I not done so! Thank you so much.
I want to let you know what I did with this project. I had some nice variegated Alpaca yarn, so I made the shawl by these directions. I did not use half of the yarn, so I made a second shawl following the same pattern. I then laid them one on top of the other and whip stitched the long side together leaving a hole in the middle for my head. The result? A beautiful poncho! Thank you again for sharing.
I found some Vanna's Choice in Aquamarine on sale at Hobby Lobby months ago; I loved the color, so I bought it, but hadn't figured out what to do with it. I decided to use it to make this shawl- it turned out absolutely beautiful- a perfect light shawl that looks like it belongs on the beach :) Thank you- what a fun pattern!
I have had trouble finding a pattern for knitting or crocheting a belly dance hip scarf but this is basically it! And after crocheting it other things can be added. Thank you so much!
This is so helpful!! I am a beginner and this is perfect for me. It’s beautiful and explained wonderfully, your voice is lovely to follow, I’ll be giving this pattern a go in the morning. Thank you :) 💕😊
Hi, Thank you very much for this beautiful shawl. I love the way you teach, it is easy for a beginner like myself to understand. Hope you will post more videos. Cheers
Thank you for this tutorial, I'm new at crochet & this pattern I could follow, you made it simple & easy to understand. I will definitely make more of these. your a great teacher!

Making this shawl now, if you want it bigger crochet more chains at the beginning, always a help to measure against another shawl if you have one. I am changing the pattern a bit and only decreasing every third row which will hopefully give me a larger shawl 😊
Thank you for this pattern video. Wonderful job. May I make a suggestion though? When you get to your last CH5 on each row, try this instead. CH2 - DC1 into last loop of previous row. That gives you your CH5 equivalent, without having to slip stitch back to the center of the loop. After your CH2 - DC1, turn & SC in the center of the current loop. Then, proceed as normal with your CH5 & SC's in the rest of the loops until you reach the last loop.
I just made this shawl for the first time and I used this CH2 - DC1method for ending/turning/decreasing each row. I love this method; nice straight edge, and I had no reason to mark rows, there was no difficulty for me finding the last space of each row. I am on to my second one and will continue to use this method!
***** If you're talking to me, then I'll explain it a little better. When you come to last CH5 loop of each row, DO NOT CH5. Instead - *CH2 - DC1 into last loop of previous row - Turn. (You are now at the center of your last loop) - SC1 in current loop. (Now, begin your CH5 - SC1 across until last CH5, then just repeat from * for each row. Now, on your very last row, you have only 1 CH5 - SC1 left. Complete last row with CH5 - SC1 - Break yarn & weave in your tail. I hope that helps you out.
Thank you for offering this pattern,I am new to crochet and love it.however after I finished the shawl part that hangs in front it wants to curl.is there anyway to fix now? It looked fine laying flat but only when I put it in it both sides want to curl?
+Terri Watts It means that you missed a few stitches. Try redoing the last few rows. Sorry for the delay in replying, but your comment was not visible to me until now. P
+George Butler I always use acrylic because it gives, it stretches and much easier to work with. Will wool work---I suppose any yarn will work. It might be harder to work with, heavier and harder to look after. Good luck with your project.

I loved this tutorial!! It was so easy and clear to follow!!! Thank you so much! It took me 4 days (10 hours) to finish my purple scarf :)
That's awesome.
Great Tutorial! Is that a 4 ply yarn? Is one skein enough to make the shawl? Thank you,Judy
I only used the one you see in the video.
How can you make this shawl larger
before I start, how much yarn so I need to buY?
So pretty love it! :-D how do i make the shawl a little longer?, do i repeat the very first row several times?
You would have to start of with a larger chain, then adjust the rows until you catch up.
Thank you for offering this pattern,I am new to crochet and love it.however after I finished the shawl part that hangs in front it
wants to curl.is there anyway to fix now? It looked fine laying flat but only when I put it in it both sides want to curl?

Ok thanks
WHERE CAN WE GET THE WRITTEN PATTERN IM 73 AND NEED IT WRITTEN OUT ALSO.THANK YOU...GREAT VIDEO
JACKI LAMPHIRE would you like me to write it down for you?
I think she uses 7mm hook instead of 5mm as she said. n 2nd row she SC from the 3rd chain instead
What kind of wool are you using will double knit wool work??????? Xx
+George Butler I always use acrylic because it gives, it stretches and much easier to work with. Will wool work---I suppose any yarn will work. It might be harder to work with, heavier and harder to look after. Good luck with your project.
Was just the 1 skein of yarn enough? How many yards?
It was a large skein

Hello I have been crocheting since I was 7 years old.
Do you use an h hook? I am going to make these shawls for the women who are in hospice care for cancer. Pray shawls. Thank you
Susan Morris from Boston MA
I use a medium hook, which is size 5. You should use whatever hook they tell you on your yarn. Good luck and thank you.
@@aworkofcraft is 5mm a h hook or a g hook
@@susanmorris5114 It is an H hook
What letter or number hook is the one you're using on the video?
7mm she uses
