      @Get You In Order Ok, just by your comment I can tell you’re the type of person we are talking about right now. Colorism is not a “thing of the past.” It’s literally still happening today it’s just people are more aware and outspoken about it, but back in the day people had the “it is what it is” mentality. You didn’t watch this video if you think colorism is something that happen back then and that black people only talk about to make other black people feel bad. It’s still happening in society and in the different types of industries, that’s why so many CZcamsrs and influencers are putting out they’re experiences. I can picture you as a light skinned person rn behind the screen with the victim mentality hating on this video😂 We’re not trying to make people feel bad we’re just stating how light skinned people from all races benefit from colorism in society. And if you think this just to “hate” on you or if this is just a “jealousy” situation to you, you’re REALLY part of the problem.

    • @melanintingz6555
      @melanintingz6555 Před 2 lety +4

      @Get You In Order there was no need for 3-4 comments to justify why you’re a victim in this situation. If you’re that triggered by what I said and this video, get help. I didn’t bother reading what you said because it’s what a typical light skin person would say in these types of situations. I said what I said👏🏾👏🏾😂

    • @melanintingz6555
      @melanintingz6555 Před 2 lety +3

      @Get You In Order “y’all think everything is all about y’all.” At this point, I think you’re a toddler behind the screen having a temper tantrum. We’re having a discussion about our experiences and VIEWPOINTS involving colorism and here you come with your victim mentality and opinions about how we are wrong🤦‍♀️ You’re literally saying and complaining about everything that you’re doing rn. YOU were the one who came at me first, because you were triggered by what I said, but then have the nerve to say I’m the one entitled to my opinion when you tried to contradict my opinion in the first place. You are such a hypocrite, but ok👏🏾👏🏾😂. I guess this video hit the wrong spot since it was talking about light skinned men

      @jp.twitchbroadcast8805 Yes. Nothing has changed. I'm assuming it's because of the region where I live. In NYC, there's not a lot of Black Americans, but a lot of Black immigrants who have a very colorist mentality that stems from their culture back home. The few Black Americans up here are off code as hell and want to be with non-black men either explicitly or on the low. Then you have the hoodrats. The majority of Black Americans up here want to escape their Blackness and be a part of white society and will stab their own people in the back in order to achieve that. I'm assuming all of this reflects in their attitude towards dark skin Black men. The Northeast just isn't a good environment for us to live.

    I grew up in San Diego in a community with a large Mexican demographic. I very clearly remember in middle school and high school you never really saw white guys dating Mexican girls, but it was a lot more common to see Mexican guys dating white girls, but it was pretty standard for them to be a lighter skinned Mexican. It’s so interesting how these examples carry from one area of the country to another across different races, but with the same idea. Thank you for the perspective!

It got to the point where I bought a walkman, or other music player to help distract from noticing that. As a fellow dark skin black young man who was born, raised and grew up in Brooklyn NYC I appreciate you making this video I definitely relate to the similar experiences of colorism you did in both childhood and current early stages of adulthood I remember those years of being crucified and being othered bc I didn’t fit any stereotypical likes that a dark skin black boy would like but then seeing those same people praise and love when a lighter skinned dude or a non black/mixed race Latino boy did the exact same thing. Even in cases where dark skinned black men can benefit from colorism in terms of dating politics there’s still a catch if you ain’t well built or skinny, or having masculine personality traits or fit into Heteronormativity you ain’t benefiting from ish. I feel a lot of dark skinned black men and boys should experience their issues of colorism and anti blackness that doesn’t go into pushing in their relationships or dragging darker skinned blank women to make them feel better

    Regarding colorism, dark skin Black men are definitely better off than dark skin Black WOMEN! During my childhood, both dark skin, brown 🟤,and light skin boys🌕 shunned and rejected brown 🟤 skin or darker girls. In elementary school, one of my best friends was a light skin girl. When we would walk down the hall together, a light skin boy approached us and asked her why was she with me. I remember telling a light skin, curly hair Black boy that a dark 🌑 skin girl was attracted to him. I wish now that I had kept my mouth shut! He immediately told her in a nasty way that he didn't want her. Of course, he later married a light skin yellow 🟡 Black woman. Brown 🟤 or darker skin Black female students received the worst treatment from dark 🌑 skin Black male students. They would verbally and physically attack 🟤 brown or dark 🌑 skin girls.

    Black mothers typically teach colorism. Men react to the teaching of their mothers. The dark skinned Black woman is the most difficult to get to admit this. Often even when it appears that a Black woman isn't colorist, she often dates darker skinned men who have colorist problems. So it's a Black women who keep this going, either aggressively or passively.

    • @ca678.4
      @ca678.4 Před 10 měsíci

      Hold on, so men don’t react to the teachings of their fathers? So typical to fall back and blame the black woman because the black men aren’t in the home, being absent somewhere huh.
      How are black women keeping it going when they are the biggest victims of it? You’re telling us that the majority of black women tell their black children to discriminate by favoring lighter skin and to descriminate towards darker? Makes no sense. It is the media that you grow up around that favors whiteness.
      How come black men know when it’s an agenda to take them out of the home but can’t also recognize the brainwashing that is white supremacy. Then again, you know why because a lot of your fellow black man favor white anyways. So please stop with the bullshit.
      It is black men who are the ones aggressively and passively keeping it going when online they are the most outspoken about wanting women of white/non black origin, and degrading black women. When they make it big, they are the first to get a white woman on their arm. Claiming they now have “access” to do so. In their songs, they praise and put lighter skin on a pedestal while degrading darker skin. I’m sure their mother did not teach them that. But it was the other black men they saw in their community. I guess black men have no influence at all over their own selves?
      The thing is, you say this, even if this was the case, why aren’t the majority of black men then calling out colourism as bad, instead of framing women who speak about it to be “bitter” “jealous” and “hateful” as black men love to call black women who speak out about colorism and detail their experiences?

When I was 16 I caught a charge and it was largely due to being more aggressive because I got picked on so much for my complexion. Luckily I’ve turned my life around and I just mind my business now but respectfully a dark skin man are way more favored within the black race than light skin men nowadays. I date a lot of white women and most of the time it’s because black women don’t give light skin men the time of day

I believe you, it wasn't at the same degree, The Crushing. Which leads me to ask, did you have some lightskin friends? Wow, Man, you are really telling the Truth, because I have witnessed those behaviors from dark skinned guys, in school and at a job. I am laughing 'cause it is So True. Thank you for providing this video about a dark skin man's perspective on this topic. Some people can now get an understanding. Because, most black men are colorist, they have said, "Oh, you're pretty for a dark skin girl" Sad, for them to say this, to a woman who has more melanin to her skin. It is just proof that most black men, think lightskin women are the only ones that are pretty. But, they should not think this way. That’s you’ll see more dark skin black supermodels from the Caribbean islands, Africa, Europe etc and barely dark skinned black Americans/DOCAS supermodels on the same level as Naomi Campbell, Tyson Bedford, Alton Mason, as well as the rise of black British actors taking over Hollywood. First, Tony, I know you weren't fishing for compliments, but I think you are gorgeous.
    Second, I grew up in South Africa, and I remember as a kid in primary school, my black female friends used to hate on a singer I adored simply because she was dark-skinned. They called her "ugly" because of it. I remember being perplexed as I thought the singer was beautiful (and had an INCREDIBLE voice, I might add - in the realm of Mariah Carey). Their attitude really messed with me for a while. It was only in recent years when I learned about colourism that it made sense. What I love about this video is, unlike watching videos on colorism put out by Black women, he didn't take the time to bash Black women, and accuse them of subliminally preferring lighter skinned people, due to self-hate, or for desiring a certain type baby for their phenotype. Growing up, I've never even heard of such a thing until I became an adult, and I began surfing the web. In my mind, children to be born despite their racial, or colorist hardships were simply children to be born. If anything you defended dark skinned Black women WITHOUT bashing light skinned Black women. You acknowledged colorism as the sinister child of racism. Thank you for articulating this video with a variety of subjects that needed to be explored. In courage you made transparent your openness and vulnerabilities to cover these topics for discussion. Finally, maybe Europeans felt that way concerning your perceived kind decorum, because of the contribution that all Black movie producers put out: Ex. Menace To Society/Boys In The Hood/New Jack City/Etc.. The stereotypes have always been there, but White American private gossip, and on screen visualizations assist in enforcing it!

I lean more on the brown skin type, but these days, I’d give anything to be a dark skin Wesley Snipes because like the old saying goes blacker the berry sweeter the juice.

    Im a mid color black woman from the Caribbean, i said mid because im a mix if my light skinned mother and dark father. I dont understand when guys say light skinned guys were favored by girls over the darker guys because i personally looove the darker skin men. The darker the more masculine and attractive i find you. My nephew came out light skinned and he says bkck girls prefer the darker guys. The darker girls have a harder time finding someone because all the guys want lightskins for the "status".

    As a darker-skinned person, I never faced colorism I'm like Sza or Chilli from TLC skin complexion some people say I’m brown skinned which I don’t care if am brown or dark cause I'm am confident and my skin complexion regardless but I think as a darker skinned person I never faced colorism because I have 4a type curly hair mixed with 3c type curly hair so people tend to not care for my skin complexion cause I have features that are usually labeled “Lightskin features” hopefully this makes sense but the main point is usually most darker skin people only face colorism whenever they don’t live up to the European beauty standard like I have an East African nose and somewhat loose curly hair so I think that’s why I don’t face colorism like if you look at Chilli from TLC vs Kelly Rowland they would most likely say Chilli is prettier simply because she has loose curly hair while Kelly haves more of a 4c type curl pattern I think all darker skinned people face colorism but usually us darker skinned guys and also girls who have loose hair and a skinner nose while having darker skin have it easier than a darker skin person with a more wider nose and a 4c curl pattern.

      East Africans are mixed with Arabs…they are not black like west African Bantu peoples. Chili is mixed race,,,,either she is biracial or multigenerational mixed…meaning mixed race parents. Black people with strong west African features face the most racism. If you are mixed people generally find you easier on the eyes. Mixed race people tend to be viewed as more attractive, smarter, and easier to get along with. It’s a belief many hold.

    Bro interesting video. Black is dark skin. Light skinned are mixed race…either biracial or multigenerational mixed. I do agree mixed race people have always been treated better than black people. It’s because mixed race are part something else,,,and whites see them as less of a treat. Latinos are mixed too…the guy that has green eyes and gold hair is mixed race.

    Yeah! many BW don't want to admit there attraction for LSBM. It's taboo and it's so funny when they try to say BW not feeling LSBM when most of us have all BW of all shades and races hitting on us. It's really comical. It's a secret that us LSBM don't tell. Believe me, if you are an attractive LSBM, you get hit on by all women of all complexion and race. And LSBM also know the deal with BW that say they don't date LSBM. We know it's because you don't like the competition it's bring because when we walk in together, we both are getting look at and they don't like that heat, especially LSBW. It's freaking hilarious that people think we don't know what's going on. All LSBM know, we just don't talk about it.

      It’s because this whole thing is in itself anti-black. Not just skin tone, but ALL black features. That’s why even in media, just a lightskin black woman wasn’t good enough, they had to go for biracial women who hit the “jackpot” in that sense who had light eyes, loose curly hair AND the skin. I’d even go as far to say sometimes the nose as well. It is about proximity to whiteness and really shows that a huge percentage of black people are still mentally colonized to view whiteness as superior. Maybe it’s a generational curse because not many have been willing to break it.
      I totally get you about feeling basic part as a lighter black person. Cause even next to the white people, (women) you STILL weren’t white enough.

    The original definition of colorism by Alice Walker defined it as "prejudicial or preferential treatment of same-race people based solely on their color." I would love to hear how the Black community in particular has made you feel this way, as a dark-skinned Black man.
    Side note: If you're not seen as part of the community or on friendly terms, it is considered impolite to use tu quieres, instead of used quiere. That's probably why they were laughing. Flattering, but not polite to someone who may see you as an outsider. I'm sure some do appreciate it though.
