Chris Jones is the guy who got the Chiefs to win in the last two seasons in the playoffs. Bills lost last two years in playoffs because no one got pressure
Thanks Joe for cranking out the content. Huge upgrades on DL reserves. That’s gonna pay big dividends. The old backups stunk
Good Morning Joe. Happy 4th of July to your family and you
Thanks, Robert! Happy 4th of July to you and yours!
@@LockedOnBills you are welcome
Happy 4th, Joe. I'm a huge Von Miller fan. I'm anxious to see him play this year.
DaQuan Jones was on his way to an all pro season before his injury. I hope he balls out again along with the rest of the DL.
This their problem. They keep putting very good ( but older) players next to ed( lord knows ed needs a big 1 tech next to him to be effective). Jones WILL be injured again or be too tired going into post season.
Wish they would have drafted a 1 tech with their first pick overall..receiver was a luxury..
Now I just want to ask a question you hope that he does we all do but do you honestly think he's going to stay healthy for a whole season
Because that's what it's been with this team we have yet to have a season of just healthy support and star players for our run in the playoffs we're always down somebody that's important though case last year damn near our whole entire backfield and our linebackers
This is just pure truth! Him and Matt getting injured while playing so great is HIGHLY UNLIKELY!! But it happened and we made it threw that fire
Von will absolutely be back to very very good. Von only weighs 250 LB and his game is all about quick twitch and speed. That is exactly what he was missing last year. If you look at his training film from last week, you can see him without a knee brace, and his quickness is absolutely back. This was not his first ACL tear, so if anyone can come back, it is Von Miller !
Lol 35 2nd Acl he's cooked my boy...Great year if he gets 5 sacks.(He's trending down).Sorry to be the bearer of bad news 😂😂😂
X factor is rousseau he has to be the goat for this dl i believe he will have a great season has long has he stays healthy
Happy 4th of July to you and your family Joe! 🇺🇸 Go Bills! #BillsMafia🎉
Thank you! Happy 4th!
What an awesome assessment of our DL! So well laid out Joe!!!! Thanks
Yep. Perfesser Joe.
We need Epenesa and Rousseau to just stay healthy for a season. Good to great things will come if this happens. Thats true for the teams chances...keep injuries to a minimum and anything is possible.
There are guys like Bruce Smith, who had knee injuries and still played really well into the 40s, so I believe it’s up to Von to be a superstar and perhaps if he has a chip on his shoulder he will be
Preach Joe preach!
Joe do you think Allen INTs we come down this season 1) Working on Mechanics this off season 2) having a better run game again takes a lot of pressure off him to make superman plays every game to win. Another words dosnt have to force balls /throws to make something happen 3) Gabe Davis gone I saw several poor routes especially in red zone where he broke off routes early and ran flat routes which led to Allen having to throw flat trajectory balls which I believe allowed DBs pick off some of Allen's passes due to his poor route tree. Just curious on how you see things on Allen's INTs issues last year and what do you expect from his production in 2024. Thank you and keep up your amazing analysis of the Bills. Go Bills !!!
Great Job Joe. I think this is one of your best ones🎉👍🏾
Thank you!
It's crazy that Von was being a playmaker making crucial sacks in big time moments before he got hurt. & everyone is acting like coming back from an ACL injury is easy to do. Everyone isn't Adrian Peterson 😂. I believe Von can get back to being a playmaker for us this season. But maybe I'm alone and will be proven wrong. But if I'm right a lot of doubters will be eating crow 🗣💯‼️ Go Bills‼️
What I want to know is, are the defensive play calls different in playoffs vs Mahomes, Burrow, etc, than in regular season.
Its all about staying healthy. If they do they can be very successful even in the postseason.
Excellent podcast as always Joe. Thanks for all your efforts.
My pleasure!
Thanks Joe! Here's a herd mentality question:
I know you always say you don't support giving a running back a 2nd contract, but there must be a price you would be willing to pay. For example, if RBs tended to be underpaid like TEs/CBs, I imagine you'd be happy to give Cook a second contract. Why is the RB market so inflated above market value? Is it because there certain teams that are messing up the market by overpaying RBs? And assuming Cook has a solid season where he establishes himself as a quality starting RB (above league average, but not CMC-level), what is a fair market rate that you would be willing to pay him (assuming the market was accurately priced and not inflated as it is right now)?
The reason is because quality backs can be found easily and they where out quick. So pay for one when you can just draft another one, who is much cheaper. The back would have to be an elite athlete and dynamic play maker to get a second contract
Haven’t we been waiting for like 4 years now? 😩
Go bills
Happy 4th of Joe-ly, everyone.
Absolutely this D-line has not shown up in the playoffs. I truly believe we lost in the playoffs from the D not showing up. I will add I’m not a fan of undersized D-lineman. AKA Mt Washington/Big cat Williams were monsters, and no one ran up the middle on us.
We should have had TJ Watt, I was surprised (pissed) that we didn't draft him when we had the chance
I wish the Bills had drafted Watt. Could you imagine that D line?
Drafted yes, but dodged a bullet letting him go to AZ in free agency.
yeah...our draft that year was beyond horrific. What did we do in this talent-rich class you ask? Well, let's take a fond look back...we gave KC the bane of our existence...Mahomes at #10. We then took Tre White over TJ Watt. This single trade decision gave KC several Super Bowls and continues to haunt us year in and year out. Let's not forget, the Diggs disaster was tied to this ill-advised horse trade as well. It gets worse... we drafted Zay Jones in the 2nd over the likes of Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin and Alvin Kamara. THEN...we sacrificed our 3rd and 4th to move up to get Dion...that turned out ok. 5th rd we took Nate Peterman...good Lord...Aaron Jones was there for the taking. I love Beane but our talent assessment is seriously flawed. The Milano pick in the 5th and Dion are the only elements that mitigate the disaster of a draft for us. Bottom line...we got damn lucky that a unicorn like Josh was born. Otherwise we would never recover from this draft.
Consider that Beane’s first draft was 2018 and not 2017. With that in mind, BBs talent evaluation is above average at worst and our last couple of draft classes appear to be developing well (see TB, CB, KS, Cybo etc)
TJ not JJ..@peterwilson4865
Nice hat!😂 Happy holiday, fellow American!
Okay I have a question I understand that the players from last year had really good seasons but doesn't that usually happen when it's either a contract is going to be up or they might be getting traded or something of those lichens I would like instead of looking for players who did good last year for their contract years or because they got paid a contract or whatever the case I would say I'm excited for players like James Cook who to me could have played a way bigger role in the offense last year then he did I mean he did better than his rookie year but when it came down to it he couldn't get open he was dropping footballs and that's what we don't need I'm looking forward to our wide receiver core and our tight end core and our offensive line forget it the whole entire offense because honestly let's get real out here Josh Allen hasn't performed like how we really want him to perform since that playoff game on the 13 seconds and what I mean by that is being the cerebral assassin that he is he is a cyborg nobody can stop him so why is it every year that we've had this team we've been stopped last year we were stopped on a field goal and because our team was very very what's the word decimated with injuries I know I can't say I know but I think I know for a fact that if we had our linebacker core we would have won that game The only slip up we really have was when the breakdown came and Kelsey scored that touchdown I feel besides that we would have won that game I rarely do this so I just want to get your thoughts on everything that I just asked if you can give them to me if not if I'm all over the place then just if you could answer one of them for me that would be awesome have a beautiful 4th of July to you and your family happy Fourth of July to the whole bills mafia
100% the Bills need Von to be that dude! Everybody talks about Allen, but it is the defense that chokes in these big games. Especially KC! Too many injuries not enough big plays. I like the revamped roster. This is what Allen needs. Time to make it his offense. Youth on D.
Can Bruce Smith still play? We need someone like him now.
He's interested but doesnt want to come in for camp.
I have? For harrd mentally if you were bean wood u give up draft picks to get a good defender
Here is my opinion.. for oliver to be the most effective, he NEEDS a really good 1-tech next to him. The bills should have drafted a starting caliber 1tech to couple with ed. The bills have failed by repeatedly putting really good but OLDER 1techs next to him..they either run outta gas in the playoffs or get hurt..
Am i crazy or do i have a Critical point??
I mean he's Daquan Jones for the last 2 seasons and he just signed for 2 more.
Here's a random question I don't remember his name last year but we had got a linebacker that retired in the beginning of the season due to being beat out by I think it was Bernard do you think he regretted retiring so early since we had all those injuries to our linebacker crew and he himself I know was a veteran that could have been valuable to us in that moment
You are thinking of Christian Kirksey
ed would unironically be making 10 more million if we signed the same contract this year
Exactly - heck of a value deal! Beane did well getting that one done early
The problem is these pass rushers can’t play hurt. That’s the trick in NFL are u crazy enough to play on broken foot or rib and be productive?
Nick (Banana Beak) Wright is the guy spreading the Josh Allen playoff myth.
Expecting Miller to have anything left at this stage of his career is incredibly delusional. The best that can be hoped for is that he is a low level starter that belongs on the field as opposed to an expensive liability.
Happy 4th. Hope y'all enjoy our funeral.
Nervous about losing Floyd and not really replacing him
He was a luxury; did not play many snaps and was a non-factor during the last third of season. Not a huge loss. And we did replace him by drafting Solomon who will most likely be a 3rd down pass rusher.
I would rather have teams sleep on us, then focus on us.
