I feel the national media gives Diggs all the credit for Josh’s success. The national media prejudiced hate for Josh carries on through the Bills. Podcasters repeat the national media’s rhetoric

Joe really is annoyed we gave Von that contract. You can hear the tone in his voice change every time he invokes Millers name.😂
In 20/20 hindsight it is the single worst move that BB has ever done as GM. The allegations of his spousal abuse were a distraction, whether completely true or a false. 258 snaps, 0 sacks for his $$$. Not ideal. EDGE, S, WR seem to be the areas of concern for the season, in that order and I am not sure that WR is indeed any concern.
@@Rob-cw9jryeah through 11 games no one was regretting the von contract. I still think the worst move by Brandon Beane was trading Wyatt Teller for scraps.

I'm nobody, but I thought it was a really bad idea to give someone at that age that kind of contract. But when the season started, and Von was playing so well, I was thinking, "hey, this contract is an all-in type of thing." He was playing lights out before that injury. I still think we at the least get to the SB if Miller stayed healthy throughout the year. But yeah, in hindsight, it what a disaster.
Forgot to mention: Where would we be if that contract wasn't given, and we had all that money for a different area? Stud WR? Probably. The Miller contract has set us back a season or two.
The talent they had the previous seasons werent enough to get it done in the big games either. The disappointments have been on the D. Im not gonna say the current group isnt good enough until they prove theyre not. Theres plenty of guys that have elite potential and their missing piece was a Josh Allen. I think the Bills are gonna surprise some people.
I have not given up on Von! His over the top optimism is biting him in the ass. At his age the injury required a full year plus to even get close. It reflected on the field. I believe you will see, older, but prime Von in 2024.

not prime, because he wasn't prime even before he was hurt, simply because he was too old to still be in his "prime". But I'll say he will probably be very good

der Brady do you see the Bills coming out this year using run more to set up big plays using more play action plays. With Kromer now having his players up front and 4 returning starters I think sky's the limit with this line. Plus it would take so much pressure off Josh and he would then only having to change into his Superman cape when we only truly need him too. I also think using tighter formations will allow Kincade and Shakir more room to actually operate on the field. Also doing some reading up this weekend on Coleman he is an above avg blocking WR. Which really adds more value to his role this year while we try to develop him into that elite route runner and speed WR in that Unicorn X WR role everyone sees him developing into down the road. Also running tighter Sets and run first will also benefit Kincade this year because he'll have all kinds of space to operate in the middle of the field. Am I getting to far ahead of myself thinking this way for this upcoming season. Curious on your thoughts ? thank you

How much ELITE talent can a team fit under the cap? It's good enough. Time for the Dee to step up
It's alot harder too when Beane mismanaged the Cap and loses 30 million in dead cap. You can't compete for championships when you do that. You'll never see that from teams like the Chiefs.

You will never see that from the Chiefs. The NFL is hard and you'll never compete like that. That's 30 million they could have used to sign a receiver. Beane is a clown of a GM. Their chances of the Superbowl this year are zero because of that 1 mistake alone. You'll never see a team in the Superbowl with dead cap hits like that. It's cap mismanagement at its finest from a clown 🤡

Diggs forced himself out of Buffalo by choice. They already paid him all that guaranteed money at signing. It's an accounting move at this point. They spent 4 million more in a dead cap hit this year and got out from under 100% of his 19 million salary and future dead cap hits. It's just an accounting move to fully tear off the proverbial bandaid. They're still a top 5-6 contending roster after the dust clears. If you can't see that, then you're just a casual.
Agree with assessments. I will give Von some grace based on injury. I still feel he has the passion to end his career on a high note. I am in the lottery for training camp tickets and crossing my fingers I can get to a session.
Going back through the past nfl dynasties of the 21st century, the patriots and chiefs never really had elite players other than the qb position. What they didnt lack was an elite coaching staff and elite qb play. If the bills coaching staff steps their game prep and playcalling, no one can stop this team.
Hey Joe thank you for doing Locked on podcasts. I look forward to watching every day along with the Locked NFL. As unpopular as it is I love the red uniform. Not for every game but would like to see more than 1 game a year. Second and probably one that is blue jersey white pants blue socks. Never liked the white jersey but it’s tolerable with blue pants.
Two names right there: Taron Johnson and Matt Milano. The fact that these dudes don’t get recognition is just wild. Take a team like the Eagles who got all the so-called “elite talent” and they didn’t look so hot last year so…. I don’t pay it no mind. 😂
We need an impact player on the DL to make plays in the playoffs! A dude like Chris Jones to close out games. I applaud the swing with Von. Maybe this year he, Milano, Ed or Terrel will close it out!

I’m seeing a path where Kaiir Elam gets a contract that’s lower than expected and outperforms it as Ed Oliver had. The parallels are very interesting and if it works out like that financially, that really helps out the Bills long term.
It is strange because Joe's analysis of the composition of and strategy to build an NFL team seems to be much better and more logical than 95% of actual NFL executives.
Besides edge my main concern it’s the safety position
Josh Allen and a bunch of good players. I believe the Bills were guilty of over evaluating Gabe Davis. He ultimately didn't pan out as either a WR1 or WR2 which I believe the Bills thought they had after the 2021 season. Kincaid has the potential of becoming elite.
Imho we have a better receiving corp than last year Overall better options, what we dont have is edge rushers that can wreck havoc, and the DBs may be interesting We will find out who Allen really is by mid season . Imho, i wont miss Diggs, albeit he was a great target
Oliver, Shakir, Van Pran-Granger...we don't shy away from short arms.
I think the Bills need to let their early draft picks play and let them grow/become superstars in 2024. Elam, Rousseau, Oliver, Kincaid, Shakir, Cook, Davis, Bernard, Bishop, Benford, Dorian Williams, Coleman are the future. Miller, Milano, Knox, Douglas may all be playing their last years as Bills. Nothing presonal - its a business and the guys who might be out have simply not played up to their contracts OR are too old/are on the downside of their playing days. 2024 is a free year for our Bills. Low expectations. Develop your young players and add key vets in FA in 2025 and make a SB run. That's how I see it.

The answer to this question is yes. Matt Milano is the only other elite player on this roster. White, hyde, poyer and von were elite at one time but no longer. Dawkins oliver are really good but not elite. Johnson is elite but im not sure a nickel corner has enough value to be in this conversation. If so count him too.
Stefon Diggs was only part of the reason for Josh's definite growth as Ja17!!! Now without Diggs, which isn't the end of the world, Josh's growth will only escalate🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 Geaux Bills!!!!!

Joe, what is wrong with your insight? Everyone has a right to their opinion, just to be annoyed by the contract that was given to Von, and remember he took a definite paycut in 2024. Last year, he was trying his best to be the player he knows he could be. His play this up and coming year will have you and others eating your words!!!
