- A host of classic cars (including ourselves in the Anglia) descended upon a field in the centre of Wem, Shropshire, for the town's classic car and anything interesting type event, called "Vehicles of Interest". The majority of the vehicles were right up our street, and having not been for a few years we decided it was high time to pay a return visit. On previous occasions we'd attended in our Minor, and the later the Volvo PV, but this year with neither of those cars with us any more, the Anglia was pressed into service.
During my walk around I had a lengthy and interesting natter with the gent that owns the fine MG YB you'll see early in the vid, and he kindly demonstrated the built-in Jackall system which was interesting to see in action.
Other classic cars etc that caught my eye included a Ford Consul Capri, Triumph 2.5Pi Mk1, a pair of Ford Model Ts, a non-shouty AC Cobra replica (based on the 289), an E83W pickup (also seen at the recent Malpas evening meet), a fantastic little Cooper 500 single-seat racing car, a very rare Lanchester 14hp/Leda saloon, a yellow Foden cement mixer, and a neat Singer Vogue estate.
All in all, a great day out!

The MGYB self jacking demo. was a treat. Never seen it done before.
First time I've actually seen one work too!
Brilliant 😎👌🚙🚘🚚🚜
Thanks Steve
Thanks for a wonderful upload you made my day,I recently found another UK site of two young lads so keen on older cars...I don't think iam allowed to mention it here but iam happy to see younger generation taking an interest...many thanks sir.
Glad you liked it (there's no embargo on mentioning other channels - too often anyway :-))
Thanks Rick and Harvey, very enjoyable 👍.
What a cracking showThanks again for sharing!!!!!
Excellent video Richard 👍👍
Thanks Andy!
MG built-in jacks: brilliant and ingenious! But one can guess why it didn't catch on.
Great video as usual many thanks for up loading.
@ 36:00: that's a Daimler Dingo scout car from WWII. A lot were lost it Dunkirk to the Jerries' benefit. Meanwhile, they saw a lot of action in N. Africa, NW Europe and elsewhere (CBI?).
Great video. I would have an E Type.
Great video, the armoured car is a daimler Dingo ww2 era.
What a superb show and video, thoroughly enjoyed it on this totally dismal wet morning up Norf. I had a Consul Classic saloon in the early 70"s which rotted out around the front side lights. I believe that they had a 5 bearing camshaft which gave them quite a superior engine, I don't know how factual that is but they sere superseded by the much more successful Cortina of which I had 2 MK 1's.
what a wonderful video and as I’m a bike nut thanks for showing some great motorcycles especially that beautiful Suzuki GT 750 the road going Version of Barry Sheens Championship winning Suzuki TR750
Another great and well noted movie thanks 🙌
Thanks Bernie!
Surprise!! 1928 Essex, I’ve owned one for 49 years. Mine is slightly modified with jaguar running gear and a 327 small block engine. I have all the original parts in my shed.
Cool, there's quite a varied mix of cars at this one, thanks for watching
Excellent video and commentary.
Thanks scooter!
My Grandad had a brass extinguisher like that. I spent many a sunday on fire duty while he welded or braised something or other.
DZUS fasteners are pronounced "ZOOSE" Great video as always .
I used to have an ALLEGRO, myself - but in "okay" beige. Not the super metallic colour of the one shown here. "REYNARD" as in REYNARD the fox. And the model of it in front of the windscreen, in exactly the same colour! Not to mention the model spins on a little turntable!
The first Model T was a Doctor's Coupé I think. I wonder if the "JackAll" system could be retro-fitted to other marques. Thanks for another interesting video.
Daimler 2.5l Special Sport 'Correct to the last detail', but looks to me like a Motarola radio from the 60s.
I agree with Harley about 54:00. I prefer the MGB gt over the roadster. I find the shape reminiscent of the E type and I like long trips. My '78 US spec Midget was miserable on a trip. The desert is too hot to have the hood up, and with it down, by the time you get there, it feels like you've fallen down some steps. . LOL But wow that car was amazing on a twisty mountain drive.
The big black sedan with registration L11HSV was not a Monaro, that is a Holden Special Vehicles Holden Commodore SS, proudly built in Australia. I have a somewhat modded (or fruity as you say) 6 liter version, and as you said quite adequate :) Amazing to drive actually, sedate when you want it to be, or brurally fast when required. Keep up the good work, love your videos, shame I can't attend these shows, being half way across the world doesn't help :)
When I was younger I used to like the overall shape of the Sunbeam Alpine. My younger brother used to have an MG Midget.
To Lawrence. When I myself was younger, I personally used to admire the overall shape of Diana Dors. But that's another story...
I do of course love the Alpine you mentioned! Have you seen the film featuring the convertible one, set in MONACO, with Grace Kelly - later Princess Grace when she married Prince Rainier? Also starring Cary Grant. The Royal family in MONACO have a tiny personal cinema. It would be my dream to watch this film with them there!
This is the best classic car show I've seen!
great video and a good selection of vehicles. but for me the sgt Bilko willys jeep is top of the pops, and col Hall would be very proud if he could see it now !
A friend owns the Jeep alongside us at this event, he gets everywhere in it
Great meet, you did well filming without the camera screen working.
Thanks Allan, I figured it out now (only after buying another camera though, still - Harley can use it)
@@oldclassiccarUK junior will not mind at all I would say
I noticed the yellow MGBGT at the beginning. DID YOU NOTICE the fancy wheels? Supermodel M G B s can " model" any style of wheels, and come up trumps! Glad to Harley is also a MGB fan! Did he notice the orange ("blaze") one modelling the popular ROSTYLE wheels?
A great video, you certaimtly know your car's, we got to the Jaguar XK 120, and I must admit I never heard of XK 140, there it was on the badge. Did I see a Sunbeam Talbot there,?
it made it very interesting with commentary, thanks for posting, New subscribber.
Glad it was of interest, thanks for sub'ing
The red bulldozer could be a drott ,if my spelling is correct. I remember my father calling them.He drove a low loader back in the day,And I remember them were always red and small compared to what he usually hauled.
The grey Russian 4x4 is a UAZ 452 still available new direct from Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (Ulyanovsk Automobile Factory) if you want to go get one and drive it back. Same indestructible mechanicals as the Soviet jeep.
Ah righty thanks, neat little machine
It's a modified green goddess at the start of you video it belongs to my father.
Ah righty, looked very neat indeed (I don't think I've seen it before) 👍
They only finished the work on it literally in the last two months it's basically now an all terrain camper
In response to your suggestion to watch the 'walk around' the lovely MGBY saloon in that gorgeous gunmetal colour I enjoyed seeing the Jackall system in operation. I seem to remember similar systems on other makes of car that were attached to less solid areas than the axles. The result on cars with rot was the jack proceeded up through the body rather than lifting the car. Am I right?
I would have thought that any lifting legs would have to be attached to fairly sturdy sections of chassis, but I guess once rot had set in, anything could happen ...
Great coverage of a super show. Many thanks. Love the Daimler and Lanchester saloons and was the little Austin a 'Pearl', as opposed to the saloon, Ruby version?
Yes could well have been a Pearl, thanks Mike
Ahem !, whilst I appreciate your knowledge of cars is vast and way more than I have, I think you will find the first give away between the XK120 and XK140 is the bumpers, the XK120 had two slim bumpers where as the XK140 has the large one piece bumper.
Hi, yes the grille isn't the only difference between the two, but grilles are the first thing I look at, thanks for the reminder about bumpers, I'll focus on them too at future shows!
As an American viewer who is interested in English cars, I would like to ask if you could do a program dedicated to estate cars only. Thanks for the many hours of viewing pleasure. Larry
Hi, thanks Larry, I did do a collection of photos featuring just estate cars a while back: czcams.com/video/dhzt6_2Nj_A/video.html
Can anyone tell me of a source for all these classic meetings? Are they listed somewhere?
Wellll I keep an eye on magazines, weekly classic papers, Facebook groups in the area, word of mouth and so on
I'd guess the red crawler was an ' International ' ?
I think they're both BTD8. They yellow crawler is a Drott.
I'm fairly sure that the red Austin 7 is a Pearl Cabriolet
Yes I think that's the one
Hi..my late father owned a Austin Big seven ..he sold it way before he had us kids.. im trying to find it, i have a photo somewhere but I do know the licence plate number..any ideas how i can trace it please? and like you vintage cars are my world,i absolutely love them,...love your vids..hope to hear from you soon. Kind regards..
Hi you can put a car's reg no into the dvla site and see if a car with that reg is still registered
The silver 1 wive red stripes is a dodge avenger not a vauxhall
Ah ok thanks, will have a closer look next time I see it
The Daimler has a G.C.P. ( gear change peddle ).
Ah thanks I wondered what the official term was
Got 14
