  • In this video we cover the infamous Mew glitch! The Mew glitch is a hidden trick in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow that allows you to catch the mythical and elusive 151st Pokémon, Mew, despite it not being available in-game. Now, normally, you would need to wait until at least Cerulean City to achieve this feat; however in Pokémon Yellow you can achieve this as soon as Mt. Moon! Watch as we delve into the process of achieving that in today’s video!

    Oh cool, I've never done it this way before. I always did it in Red or Blue version, using the Youngster with the slowpoke and the bug catcher on route 24.

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 9 měsíci +18

      Yeah that's the earliest you can do it in Pokemon Red and Blue. However, as mentioned in the video, in Pokemon Yellow this earlier opportunity exists. You basically need to simply have the last Pokemon encountered have a Special Stat Value of 21 to get Mew from this glitch; the Koffing on the Super Nerd for instance has that value so it results in Mew. Different values will result in different Pokemon, I believe a value of 22 gets you a Gyarados if memory serves, and using moves like Growl will lower the level of the Pokemon encountered through the glitch.

    Hey I thought I was the only one that knew this. Fun fact, there's a hiker in mt.moon you can do this with too, and depending on who you fight, you can even get missingno! In addition, who you talk to AFTER the random trainer fight but before encountering the mew (or whatever) will change the dialogue before the fight starts. If you talk to the electrode in cerulean you even pick up a TM before the fight

    does this work the same as in the Red and Blue version with Growls?
    if you growl at the trainer's pokemon in R&B, it would alter the summoned pokemon's lvl. setting up 6 growls would result in a lvl 1 spawn that upon capture and gaining any exp would jump to lvl 100. but using just a few growls would lower it from lvl 7 to something that might be easier to capture

I mean sure it's obtained through a glitch but if you know the associated Special Values for each Pokemon you could technically use this same glitch to get various different Pokemon. I believe with a Special stat value of 22 you'd get Gyarados and 21 is Mew if memory serves. That's a little extra knowledge for ya!

    Why is this only available in yellow version?

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 3 měsíci

      Because the long-range Trainer in Viridian Forest isn't present in Pokemon Red or Blue version there isn't a chance to exploit this particular glitch earlier than Route 24 in those games. The glitch requires a long-range Trainer encounter to work. So, ultimately, you're limited by how many of them exist and where they're located.
      If you meant why they made this decision in terms of the design of the games, I couldn't really say. I could make some educated guesses but for a definitive answer you'd have to ask the Game Freak devs.

    Is there a legit way to get mew?

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Not anymore, no. All legit Mews were from events and I think the one for Generation 1 was a Japan-exclusive event.

    Theres also another possibility to get mew on mt Moon
    At Mount Moon take the secound ladder down there is a rocket member looking up u could do the Trainer escape glitch with him
    After that Go to the pc and look at one status of your mons that will do the Same as the youngster who escorts u to brocks gym
    After that Go back to Mt Moon but dont go down the ladder instead battle the guy Right after the ladder to the rocket member
    After that Go down the ladder to the exploited rocket member but dont Go all the way down instead hunt for a paras Level 13
    If you fought one go down to the rocket member and ur start menu will pop and a battle will start with mew
    Attention: some paras level 13 wont have a special stat of 21 its also a little bit of luck

    Thats an Easter egg not a glitch

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 5 měsíci

      An easter egg can also be a glitch but easter eggs are always intentional inclusions in a game. With no evidence that it was an intentional feature of the game classifying it as a glitch but not an easter egg is accurate here.

    Liar no secret unlocked at all, you are just using one of the earliest setups for the REGULAR "Mew Glitch" (it's called Trainer Fly Glitch). You didn't unlock shit you glitched and caught a Pokémon like a lot of us prior.

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 3 měsíci +1

      First off, it's just a video title and there's no reason to get so offended. Second, not everyone knows about every single instance where this glitch can be performed and there was no video coverage I could find on CZcams of this particular instance prior to this video. Thirdly, to someone who has never heard of this particular case of the glitch being utilized it could be considered a secret to them and this is purely an informative video meant to show how it works.
      Finally, why do you even see the need to be so offended about this that you left this comment? Why is this so important to you that you see a need to "call out" someone over something that is a matter of perspective? Instead of simply looking for a reason to be upset you could've just taken this video for what it is and moved on but you chose to get all bent-out-of-shape about it instead. It's only a video title.

      @GermanAnimeStudioZZ Před 3 měsíci

      @@theomniwildcard I am not offended I am calling you out for being intentionally misleading in the title, I would have watched anyway if you just wrote Mew Glitch. The title implies there is something MORE to it besides the Mew as if it would unlock a secret area very few or none have seen before, which would be GIGANTIC news considering how well documented and aged the game is. Nothing more nothing less the title is a plain lie, I get the clickbait thing but be HONEST about it if you do it and don't throw a COMPLETE LIE in there. I have to admit I didn't know this specific way of doing it. Also maybe you should have combined it with the exp underflow Glitch since that can be done in Viridian Forrest too.

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@GermanAnimeStudioZZWas not my intent to be click-baity in a negative way so I've updated the title to be less hyperbolic and not imply anything misleading.
      As for the EXP underflow glitch I had considered mentioning it at the time, but I felt it was better to be more focused for the sake of concise explanation. I'll probably cover the EXP underflow glitch along with other glitches in a future video.

      @@theomniwildcard it's fine man sorry for the harsh choice of words, I am kinda like a loaded gun sometimes shoot first and think how it came across later. I'd recommend something along the lines of new Mew Glitch, or alternate Mew Glitch (sounds even better) . It's something that unites us (the series). Besides that keep it up my man, there are a few very tricky glitches if you want to try them(i failed at item underflow that shit is very complicated, if you only go by the text something like a few A4 pages ) the safari zone Glitch is nice and somewhat "easy" , but you have to count precisely.

    • @theomniwildcard
      @theomniwildcard  Před 6 měsíci

      Not sure what you mean. There was no clickbait here and the purpose of the thumbnail was merely to show that you'd have a Mew by the end of the process.
      Someone else mistook the thumbnail to mean that the Mew would be following them around like Pikachu. I apologized for that as that was not the intent and I could see how that misconception could occur.
