WE'RE LOSING HER! ...we lost power, lost a mama, lost the nanny and lost some sleep.

  • What a WINDSTORM!!
It took out our power for about 16 hours, thankfully most of those overnight... but come morning, I had 38 HUNGRY bottle lambs, and no working nanny.
    I was stressed all night.
But like most things I dwell on for too long, the actual job wasn't as bad as I prepared myself for.
I still used the nanny for her reservoir, hoses and multiple drinking spots to get the lambs fed in under a half hour.
    Thank goodness.
And the power came on, but not before two ewes decided to lamb.
    #sheep #storm #poweroutage #lambing

Seeing how much Sandi loves and works for these sheep makes my heart warm. I don't understand how people say she's hurting them or that she can't take care of them, she is very obviously working her ass off for these babies ❤

As with any venue, or difference of reality, there will always be haters out there all too eager to voice their unwanted opinions. Sandi is fantastic, and her professional life is devoted to these precious animals. The whole farm is devoted to the healthy raising of these precious animals. Mark & Sandi met in college both studying different aspects of animal husbandry. They both grew up in this field. I think that they know what is best for their business moreso than some ignorant children out there voicing their opinions of a video. These are unfortunately the future of the world and come from the parents who Molly coddled them during childhood. Not every team member gets a gold star just for participating. Not participating and expecting the world to revolve around them turns into the unemployed.

This is her business. Raising lambs. Some go to market, some for their wool. She cherishes the animals, but she has to be reasonable. She has compassion for them but has to draw a line. She and Mark own the farm, acres of land that need to be turned, water supply out in the fields need fixing, the machinery, it's a farmers life. It's not easy, and it's not easy when your child gets sick, and your dividing your time with one life and another! The biggest news that came to all of us who watch n support, is when Jessie's cancer was no more! Life. Goes on. Friends are important, taking a break, family, critters, big and small. Adversity comes to everyone of us in one water another, but we do not give up! Sandi does not give up or give in. This is truly a woman of great value!!!

I hand reared the 2 babies unfortunately the boy died 5 days after birth for no apparent reason he looked healthy he was eating etc and his sister passed at 14 days old i was devastated she had to be put to sleep as she couldnt breathe and i rushed her to the vets she was put in the oxygen cage and when i made the decision to put her down they brought her to me so i could cuddle her one last time and as soon as left the oxygen cage she was struggling to breathe 😢

Good morning Sandi, we have no nanny so every bottle fed lamb on our place is strictly fed by us ( mostly me). Formula pre made every feeding. Bottles cleaned in dishwasher nipples sanitized in boiling water. I fill bottles (like human baby bottles) nipple cap and into 5 gallon pail of hot water.
Then to BFS ( bottle feeding shed). We have a rack system I get bottles in the racks, and let go those hungry babies. I have a few that I sit hand feed. The weaker, the littler and newborn.

Lost one of our ewes to PregTox last week and sadly her lambs weren't viable, broke my heart to loose them all, but seeing your lambs and knowing we all have to cope with loosing them makes it easier to cope with. Thank you for showing us the hard work and dedication you put into your flocks. xxx

I hope you keep little tiny Pumpkin/Peanut as a ram lamb! A future stud muffin if you will. He’s fought so hard to live and is just the most beautiful lamb 🥹. We’re all going to be utterly in love with him by the end of this lambing ❤

So sorry for the loss of the ewe. Such a tragedy after she gave you three beautiful babies. Not having electricity in a normal time is had enough let alone during lambing. You are doing a wonderful job. Itty bitty is still so small compared to the others.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet mama ewe. After growing her babies and keeping them safe and getting to see them take their breaths, she did an amazing job. It’s so sad and heartbreaking after all that hard work and love and she doesn’t get to see her little ones grow up. Sometimes it simply sucks. God bless her babies and run free over the rainbow bridge sweet mama. Endless yummy snacks and play time.

The official term for a pile of lambs is a cuddle puddle. It is important that people know that. Lol

Solar panels and some batteries for backup for the nanny at least?

I feel so bad now about complaining the there is no power in the morning to make coffee. Your animals needed it so much more then I needed my darn coffee. Your so amazing about making the best of it and doing what you had to do for your babies

Wow! You WERE having some wind. Sounds like a train going through the barn. The spring of 2024 will be quite memorable for you with all the events around there. Sad to lose an animal you have nurtured. She gave her life for those sweet babies. Love the zoomies!

    Hi again SANDI
Thank goodness for the Mama Machine! Lol
You've done a great job with this another lambing. Always challenges and some sad things too but over time you've grown and learned so much.
Hoping a nice spring and early summer will be perfect there for you all.
Thx as always for sharing another lambing full of those cutest lambies ever.
