Lexie Jansen, aka Maionhigh, has one of the best communities in FPV. They are caring, not only for her, but for each other, as well. It is a truly welcoming place and one I would recommend to all pilots, but especially a new pilot. In this episode we talk about how she built her community and what tips she might have for anyone that wants to or is building a community. Really, really good stuff!

As a certified "Beer League FPV Racer" AKA Sports Class...Mike, you gotta go a FPV race and fly the track. It will be fun and you'll instantly become a much better freestyler.. (this is true of any pilot the has not raced before...VICE VERSA...Pilots that only race, will become better/faster racers once they do some freestyle). Great work !

If we had a race scene around here I would. Might just need to head out to Richmond...

I have a few folks that just serially dislike things. It is the first mark of CZcams success!

Hi michael, is it intentional that you only posted the intro and not the whole interview on spotify? If not i just wanted you to know. :)

That was not my intent! I'll give it a look. Thank you.

I've been following Lexie since she did the interview with Joshua and she engages a lot with her community. But I gotta say... Im starting to think now, that maybe.... she actually is a decent pilot... (jk, she is great!)

    good interview and topic.
the whole equality game ends at the finish line: who is first, nothing else
gender does not count in such games as cards or chess so why should it in drone racing
Sponsor or not has to be the decision of those who pay the sponsoring. I do not wanna force them for any quote cause I do not wanna be forced either like the money I spend on youtube via paypal or patreon depending on gender.
We donate money for both gender, but a minority is for channel owned by women.
    Why ?
90% of our subscribed channels are owned by men for what ever reason. Therefore the amount spend for channel owned by women is not the same , but the average is twice as much, so close to 80% of all donations go to men and a bit more than 20% to women. And this is a family decision.
Finally you have to emphasize that it depends on the person / personality of the creator.
Regarding donations it is also a family decision and I would not support a female creator without family / better half who is not easy to convince. She does not like the women who
    * complain, play with fingers in the hair or
    * play the 'girl card' which starts for her with thumbnails and photoshopped hair or other polished up details in a male dominated area (not the beauty and personality channels she watches)
Do you recognice a polished picture / thumbnail ?
Usually not but my better half tells me about all the tweaks from hair to whatever photoshop offers and if a woman does that in a male dominated area (not the beauty channels) it is over for her.
She says she wants to see women perform on their own without playing the subtle cards women can play. She does not even watch or judge the content, but the habit or attitude, the angle a shot is taking and so on. My better half is in business were figures count and do not ly, she expects it needs tough work and more endurance till she will be rewarded.
Here going to a unisversity is free , far more women study than boys and after the graduation it ends up in a lower payment - by average but the average is not telling you, that a software engineer here is better paid than a nurse or social care taker and so on. Boys tend to study engineering from software to fluids and architecture but femals choose more social stuff which is not paid that well. Shall boys now start complaining and call for a 50% share of all student spots cause some are very limited like in medicine ?
No, those 20 with the best test results will get it.
And regarding payment after graduation: women simply have to learn to negotiate better
Every manager has to hire the stuff for the lowest cost he can and then reward the better ones but not everyone should get the same cause some outperform the others a bit or a lot and those deserve more, which also means that those have to fight for a better payment after achieving goals faster or surpass those goals.
I am not in fpv racing, more fpv in general, but I know Lexies channels and had subscribed long ago and also unsubscribed a while ago for several reasons I do not wanna touch deeper except: the amount of watch time is limited and at the end my issues I tried to solved had been solved by others that had been faster or offered a more specific video
But I also have to emphasize that I am not the racer at all, but fpv fan for 3 or better 4 years. my comment also touches only what I had seen on her channel, the tutorials and explanations / faq, not her capability regarding drone racing. That being said it is a difficult topic which needs time to get into the details, the racing performance for example is a different beast than her channel performance I could talk till she moved I guess cause that is when I unsubscribed.
Finally: my wife would not accept her as a role model cause I had asked her which channel she would choose to get into the hobby. This means she has to ask other women how to catch them cause my wife prefered Joshua Bardwell .
Why ? He is not only precise for her but she loves his kind of humor, the change of the voice and found it more interesting to watch him. But that is only a judgemment based on thumbnails, titles and watching a few videos and jumping through, cause she is not in the hobby. But at the end she watched the JB stuff quite longer and when I asked her she said that it was more entertaining and serious. She said that he stands for what he says by his body language.
Humor and body language were the key factors she said beyond the real thumbnails where JB did not polish up himself as she had called it.
