    Don't worry, Bob. Even in 2024 there are still newbs getting into FPV who want to learn the history, the "why" of electronics choices and are excited about building their own quad. I'm currently practicing soldering and researching components for my first build. Probably going to order a set of imperials!

    These interviews are so inspiring! Bob is one of my favorite innovators in the industry, and the least I can do is being his Patreon and buy his excellent products (even if importing taxes are high from the US to Europe, they are worth every cent).
    Keep coming these fantastic interviews! 🔥

    Can't/won't build the drone? Something's wrong with the new generation. When I started RC I assembled* the transmitter, receiver and servos for my 1st plane. (*soldered all the transistors, resistors and caps to a circuit board and interconnect wiring)

    A fantastic video. This are too easy in many ways. However I’m still more than capable of setting things on fire for no good reason. Just last week did it with another Air Unit.
    Love the format and feel of this channel, I was talking with a few people last few weeks and you are moulding this into something special.

    If you want parts get them now. The prices are going to jump and supply chains are going to be tough. Random lockdowns sweep and change here daily. Shipping is thru the roof. Containers are nearly impossible to acquire. Most smaller manufactures have or are going out of business. They banned English in schools and made training centers illegal sending thousands of people out of the country and huge companies out of business. They took over all the big tech. The walls are going back up.

    Isn't it cheaper to just buy a bind and fly than to buy all the parts and then have someone build it?

    • @MichaelRollins
      @MichaelRollins  Před 2 lety

      Probably. But BnFs typically have some kind of cost compromise in them. As a result, you are likely not getting the "best" set of parts. But, tbh, I think that if you blindfolded almost all pilots and asked them to do normal pilot things they would adapt and not be able to tell much difference.

    Build service makes 0 sense....why buy parts and send them to someone to put together? Spending how much money on shipping per part and then how much money to build it....when you can just buy an RTF with basically everything you want in it.

    • @lackofeffortfpv7412

      additionally if its well-tuned out of the/a box so to speak

    • @MichaelRollins
      @MichaelRollins  Před 2 lety +1

      As I stated above, this is probably a better approach for most folks. But if you have a very specific use-case then you're going to want to build it yourself or built professionally. The cine-lifters are a perfect example. Most folks will not put them together as they can't afford for them to crash.

      @jamesordwayultralightpilot Před 2 lety

      @@MichaelRollins I can kinda see your point it's just I forsee that whole cost going up quite a bit to have someone build one for you. It would have to be totally worth it for me.

    I can't help but disagree with a lot in this video. I agree marketing is huge for capturing market share, but I don't think you need market share to have enough money to invest in R&D. Such as in any industry, you need dedicated talent pool (which this industry has) who will put in the investment time of their brains to make cool shit - with a sense of wild abandonment. If the ideas on needing money to innovate - the drone hobby industry would be getting their new products from the defense industry and not the other way around. I understand if this is controversial but this industry would not be where it is at today without the lower cost labor in the south Asian markets (not just China). Cloning aside, time and time again markets do not see innovation without competition - and competitive price points are a very important aspect to an evolving innovation sector. To dismiss how important lower costs markets are to developing and maturing a technology sector is a comically disillusioned stance. When you consistently belittle and undervalue a market segment, one that we literally rely on today, it is a no wonder that very view companies come back for seconds when working with FpvCycle.

    Please don’t 3D print in the background so that you don’t have to adjust the sound. It’s either super low or super high and both are annoying.

    • @MichaelRollins
      @MichaelRollins  Před 2 lety

      I only had a set amount of time to get things ready. I didn’t like the printing at all and was having a hard time adjusting the sound. Next time won’t be so constrained.

    Manufacturers live for trades, all companies in the US give orders to China for their low cost and the great quality but most of those manufacturers have small production lines so the QC isn't good. However there are great stuff like they will never brake. CHOOSE before you buy, go for community discussion for the best parts, ask those racers. You can't say copiers are slowing down the community dev since those stuff can't even sell one in China, instead large number of orders are from America, you guys fed them;) By the way, build service sounds stupid, this hobby is not just about flying your quad but learning from it, if you fly without knowing your quad inside and out that'll be meaningless, go have fun with simulator lol
