I love those Mtech Tanto and I can't afford the beautiful Cold Steel at the moment,so having Two of those Mtech's made my satisfied to a degree. I still want the United Cutlery version also it twice as much as the Mtech but probably not twice as nice. But the Cold Steel is Top Shelf, the both will sKill very nicely. ⚔️⚔️🦁⚔️⚔️

Hearing how the cold steel arrived out of the box, especially with sharpness, just goes to show you what happens when a huge conglomerate buys a company and swears to keep everything the same, but obviously lack the passion and dedication of Lynn Thompson and Andrew Demko!!!! Also if u don’t have a CRKT HISSATSU or HISSHAU, GET ONE!

Cold Steel has always had a problem with its quality control way before GSM bought them. That’s why they offered the life time warranty. CS was never making products in its own production mill, it never had one, it always paid a third party manufacturer in another country to make items by the specs CS gives them. Whenever a company is not making its own products there will always be a lot of “good enough/I don’t care/not my job” problems and CS quality control definitely shows it. For the high price one has to pay for some of CS’s items they need to come razor sharp and perfect condition every single time including accessories like a sheath. I have several CS knives and I have never gotten one that came as sharp as I expected or the grinds were not symmetrical on both sides.
CS has awesome designs but their QC is absolute garbage.

This comparison is the reason I stay away from expensive knives and swords for the most part. You don't necessarily get what you pay for nowadays. Can always fined a good deal if you look around a bit.

Check out Wyatt Hines. He can make to your specs for an extremely affordable price. He's made a couple for Donovan Tew that are close to the Hisshou.

What I initially check when holding knives or swords is if the blade is straight and aligns with the grip. Many cheaper knives don't. Are both these knives OK in that regard?

When I bought my Japan-produced tanto in the 90s, it was RAZOR SHARP…. I’m disappointed to hear this now

MTech makes some of the most Janky KnivesI I've ever seen... I wouldn't recommend MTech Knives to anyone... On the other hand, the Cold Steel Magnum, "American," Tanto is a proven, quality, fixed blade knife. They are worlds apart... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I am not sure if you know that M-Tech, the Chinese Knife Manufacturer, is famous for making Chinese Junk Knives. I wouldn't ever want an M-Tech Knife. I bought a shipment of them, back in the day, to sell on eBay, because their pictures looked good. And, they turned out to be straight junk. I used to just give them away, as bonus gifts, when somebody purchased one of my Knives on eBay and Blade Bid, back in the day. I would stay away from M-Tech Knives, they're junk...

Yes they are garbage knives but sometimes fun to just collect and not use thanks for chiming in

Last summer I bought the Magnum Tanto XII in San Mai III and the knife fits in the sheath well, and last month I bought the 3V version.
My 3V Magnum Tanto doesn't fit the sheath well, though mine doesn't seem to have as much problems as yours does.
The 3V version is slightly thicker than the San Mai version, and if they use the same sheaths for both of them, that would explain part of the sheath issue.
