I bought the warcraft stone wash for the home defense only and it is the perfect tool for that purpose if you can't afford a gun.
I like that idea.
They look very cool! Great video 👍
Very good looking Tantoes! I'd go for the San Mia one.
Tantos not Tantoes
San Mai not San Mia
I like them all of course. And with your hand, I can see the validity of your personal choice for a handle. I have a smaller hand and either one is good for me. I have the Acid Wash model. I really do like the finish, it gives it a jeweled sparkling effect. I just wish that the pommel was bigger, pointier and more lethal. Something like that is on my Cold Steel Chaos.
Tanto makes me think of something to do with stabbing. I really like the look of the stonewashed one btw, it has character.
Actually a good observation.
Tanto's was actually invented for that exact purpose😄.
So it makes sense that you're imagination concludes that.
Tanto is a stabbing blade. The tip is armor piercing. Fortunately these tantos are also slashers too because of their length.
Those are pretty sweet!
"Chunky fingers" ....LOL!! You are killing me Jimi! Great video, thanks Bro!
:) Thank you!
The beauty of the tanto always wanted a warcraft tanto.
I like the look of the stonewashed version. ( i actually like the look of all of them)
I bought the san mai version to be delivered in a couple days, in canada the price would make you cry, thanks for the video i enjoyed it
Those are pumpkin stabbers for sure. I would love any one of those.
I want all of those Tantos. Maybe some day. Josh on the stabbing; old phone books, 5 gallon buckets, scrap drywall and plywood. On the slashing; pork belly, old fishing nets, the yellow poly glass rope, bamboo, and ships rope.
Ooooo, all great ideas. Thank you!
The stonewashed is awesome looking.
I did a tissue gift paper slice test with my CPM-3V. That heavy of a blade slicing fragile paper without ripping it was a true sharpness test + dang $300 is too expensive to beat on worthless junk!
It's not a bushcraft tool, so forget the firewood. It's a weapon for tanto-jutsu, used where a katana is too long, cutting flesh.
When katana is too long you can switch to wakizashi. And you'll probably shocked feeling how light was they are...
They may not be a bushcraft knife but they do work as a bushcraft knife
Those are all three great looking beasts. But, it’s funny how if the middle one was sitting there alone, it would be pretty stellar looks wise. But, between those other two beauties, it comes in at a distant third to my eye.
I have the xl warcraft in 3v and I love it. They discontinued the 3v versions so I guess eventually I'll end up buying the 4034 7.5" warcraft. That seems like a more usable blade size especially for edc. It's hard to beat a big blade though
Pumpkin choppers for sure! Gotta get in the Halloween spirit after all!
if you stab anything with hard surface resistance , please put a lanyard on the knife and secure your hand before attempting to stab !
also get a 55 gallon barrel to stab , they're cheap and readily available .
be careful stabbing stuff !
Great video. Vinyl tube cutting should be a pretty good test for the cutting ability of a knife.
That's a good idea.
Might be great competition knife
Ballistic gelatin torsos ;). You can smelt them down afterwards, remould the gelatin and reuse it
That's a great idea. I need to really look into that.
@@Jimislash thanks :)
I like the handle on the old version . also I have some old san mai ii blades , the outside steel comes beautifully polished , then the sheaths scratch the soft outer metal , I think its 440 or something similar. my old master hunter looks like the blade is stone washed its so scratched up !
You only got two hands Mr Jimislash!!
I’ll take one!! 😂
I really want one of these. We're having a second kid and my wife wants to do a home birth. I said that since it would be at home I would probably need to supply the knife to cut the umbilical cord. Accordingly, it should be something special, purchased specifically for this purpose. Yeah, I keep coming back to a getting a 12" (or larger) tanto from Cold Steel.
Lol, that would be epic.
Black one seems to have a different grind on the tip.
Also the san mai is hollow grown while 3V is flat ground, so I imagine will be a bit lighter overall and have a bit less weight forward.
You almost have a set of steak knives! Keep saving those S&H Green Stamps from Piggly Wiggly and you'll make it!🤪
LOL! Piggly Wiggly..awesome!
Honestly Tammie always gives you the best recommendation like bricks for example :) lolololol. Honestly depends what your testing for impact great for toughness and seeing if your edge rolls. For edge retention cutting cardboard and rope are pretty hard on edges in general. Initial sharpness paper and shaving test seems pretty reliable, but even a bad burr can look sharp on a paper test all depends on what your trying to demonstrate I guess. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
Thank you for watching and commenting. :)
Dang very nice!!!
HAM!!!! I say cut some ham up with the Warcraft tanto. Mmmmm…… ham.
This is like Jimi Slash therapy, here I thought I was the only one with thousand of bucks worth of knives in different carts all over the internet. I feel better already. Now I gotta go add some more cash to my carts. Thanks Dr. Slash!
Lol, I've added a grand since then video. :)
Thanks Mr Slash
Thank you!
The handle for the dlc coated blade feels so great! You got to be a fruit ninja with these( pumpkins are fruit) or throw them for a great torture test.
Oh, fruit ninja! I like it.
There are many ways to test these knives but my hands down favorite is HOBO BOB and you know WHY Josh 🤣
Lol, I thought of you this morning at breakfast. I had the Hobo Joe omelet.
I love the Warcrafts
A tire with bob at the end!
Bob test sounds good.
OH OH OH! In my best Sam Kinison impression. People are nuts-how is chopping into wood or a brisket NOT testing the blade? Most of us use these things for opening letters and packages to be honest. I get it as I like watching JoeX videos as well. I will never be whacking a blade on a brick or stabbing a car ever! Or whacking it on a pole. Really cool to watch and see how they hold up to extreme tests, also great to see how the knive holds up to tasks we actually use them for so thanks you for real whacking that wood and brisket!
:) You are welcome! :)
Oh my, san mai! They all look great though.
I would like to see you chop through a 2"x2"x 8' and determine how many chops it takes to get through it. Given these two choices, Warcraft Tanto and the Trail Master, which would you use in a chopping competition? I dig both these models but can't decide which one to choose.
That's a good question. Great idea for a video. I will find out for sure. :)
Whichever has more weight. Probably the trailmaster..
My lord can you imagine picking the jimmy slash house to break into 😂. Those knives would be awesome to break out for friends when cutting bbq
That would be fun. :)
You know with that Tanto point you really have got to do some stabbing tests. Hit your local thrift store for some hobo worthy clothing and maybe even some old cake pans or something in front of a pumpkin.
Oh! Sweet idea! I love it.
I usually like stone wash but it's not my favourite version on this knife, still nice though
If you had to chose between the Magnum Tanto or 12inch Warcraft Tanto what would it be?
That's tough. Magnum.
All 3 are awesome and s good test to do is get a sheet of metal and test the knives on it
Sheet metal would be cool.
Eyegasm
While balance and ergos are very important, 3V is a better engineered, more durable steel.
I would like to see come flesh/bone test with the Tantos. Can you get a hold of some deer legs?
I might be able to get some butcher bones, but I don't know where to get deer legs.
@@Jimislash meat with bone would be a great test to see out these steels hold up in the moment of truth…. Oh, I have a 3v Laredo coming Monday ;)
@@mathewrculbertson So awesome!
@@Jimislash Just chase a slow deer thru the woods.
Most have 4 deer legs.
The design of the knife is superb, however, for me the old finger groove handle along with the steel is the best! AND try sharpening the stainless blade. It was dull out of the box and took me days to sharpen it. UGH!!!
Chicken bone wrapped in leather or denim is a good test medium. The denim tests the sharpness. The bone tests the durability.
I like that idea.
i need one a got a gang of nasty pumpkins after me...make another ham sandwhich jimi.
YES! Sandwich!
Something different..try bushcraft feather stick...rope cut...slashing/ chopping . Mix it up for 6th anniversary
Ok, that sounds good.
Featherstick with these warcrafts?!? 😂🤣
Haha
@@dhl671 perhaps you or your knives
are disabled ?🤣
@@dhl671 I guess you are disabled..I see you only have 1 finger. Sorry about your luck
nothing wrong with San Mai ...Bob would be a good test subject 🤣
Bob's in trouble. :)
Tanto blades are generally fighters and hanging meat or rope is a good test. I can't see stabbing them in a car door. I know they can probably take it but it has to be rough on the blade.
Slashing at hanging meat or rope wouldn’t really be ‘testing’ the tanto….
Tanto is primarily for stabbing/piercing.
@@dhl671 And for attacking the incoming limbs of an attacker.
I got the Magnum Warcraft 4034. I love it! A Warcraft I can afford. I'm sorry, 500 for a knife I can't do especially since I could by a gun for that same price. I'm not paying gun prices for a blade unless I'm buy a full-size sword. Then 500 makes sense.
A lot of people share that opinion. Nothing wrong with that.
Love that stonewash version...so much so I bought one last week haha! Cool looking handle too, and feels great in my XL hand.
Yeah, as far as testing, chopping wood is fine and all, but that's not really what I would do with this blade. Really the testing Cold steel does with it is the way to go. Slicing and stabbing different materials. I mean for me, the best test would be to see how well it takes off a zombie's head. So if you can replicate that, go for it haha!
Lol, I need to invest in mannequins.
If in your travel you were to run into superman 🦸♂️ Superman himself would be cut 😆 🤣 😂 😹
If the church ladies ever become zombies, this is the blade to go testify! ⛪🙏🔪 One sweet mammer jammer!
I'll be ready for those blue hairs. :)
Cold steel pumpkin carving? 🎃
For real? Or "carving"? :)
@@JimislashDavid Choe👌
I don’t think you should do any crazy testing. I bought mine for personal protection, so I care more that it is razor sharp and ready to draw. Since I bought it for that reason to me, I can’t see how pounding this knife through a car hood or door or cutting through a 2 x 4 would mean anything to me. I carry this so if someone were to reach for a weapon they would watch their arm falling to the ground or worse. I use my magnum X ll San mai for the same reason . If was going to use a knife as a camp knife, batoning or as a prying tool I would use a schrade schf52. I don’t mean to sound like an A hole but, almost every CZcams knife video is about seeing how much torture a knife will take, even shooting them going up in calibers to see when they will break. JMHO. I just think of knives differently. Thank you for the informative video. 893
Nothing wrong with thinking of knives differently. I like the arm falling scenario. :)
Chop some antler and a macro slow-mo of slicing a head of wheat or dandelion sphere, etc
Regarding the wheat: I mean like a close up slow-mo shot that would take a high degree of sharpness and precision to achieve, like chopping through the head of wheat or cutting a dandelion globe/sphere in half.
I need some antler.
That would be awesome!
Probably gonna be really frustrating too, but it would look incredible and demonstrate your blade competition skills (and film skills). Good luck if you try it... cutting a nice, vibrant rose in half without much movement would look cool as well and might be easier because of the additional inertia.
@@ElCapAddict Great idea!
If Jimislash likes it , I buy it
:) Excellent! :)
Stick some meat and wood with those fine Cold Steel Tanto's
The mic worked this time...😁
Lol, yes, it did.
Chop through animal forelegs
Call up a local scrapyard/abandoned car lot and I bet they would give you a car door for free or very cheap
My wife heard you say 12 inches, and then you checked your buddies out, she almost passed out laughing!!!!! Then she got worse when you talked about piercing meat and rubber!!!!
Please test it on some ZOMBIES!
Cut some rolled bamboo msts. Tanto's are designed for fighting. Stabbing and slashing.
They don't give me money for mats. They are expensive.
The "stonewash" on the 4034SS doesn't come across looking very good on video... it kinda looks really bad...imho.
Really? It must be the video. Or just my problem. :)
I was thinking the same thing, maybe the way the stone washing catches the light?.
Who needs a machete when you have one of these? Hobos can't tell the difference.
😂
They look like butcher slicing blades. They're not sharpened to the tip so they don't look like stabbers.
These are shaving sharp to the point. Is that what you mean?
@@Jimislash oh.....hard to see that....I guess they are stabbers like you were saying....but still think they would be good slicer or slashers.
Wow a twelver 😆 🤣 😂 😹
cold steel made the biggest mistake in their entire career by discontinuing best knife they ever made which was the original warcraft tanto with cpm-3v which was the perfect steel for a full tang fixed blade used for bushcraft or chopping down wood or other tough purposes, no other steel is going be tough enough to lift the weight of a car yet have a decent edge retention
they basically cheaped out and sugar coated aus-8 which is one of the weakest steels in the market (you can verify it in cedric's chart its at the very bottom of the list) and named it san mai 3 just like they cheaped out with vg-1 japanese made version of steel tiger and moved their factory from japan to taiwan and many other products
its such a damn shame to watch the company that was once the most mainstream and famous knife company in the world degenerate again and again and lower the quality of their legendary products to an entry level while the insect company that everybody loves and worships so much basically sells different colors of the exact same knife they've been making for 40 years and people eat it all up
You're overreacting to a change in one knife. I love the 3V Warcraft, as well. But Cold Steel is hardly "degnerating again and again."
@@Jimislash dude... they literally sold the company... and discontinued countless number of knives, chaos tanto, warcraft tanto, vg-1 steel tiger, kopis machete and pretty soon every other non politically correct neutered knife that extends 3.5 inches is gonna be discontinued too and basically cold steel will just sell normal everyday pocket friendly cute edc knives like para 2 or buck 119 just to fall in line with every other knife company that just sells the exact same thing without making anything new so if i were you id buy every cold steel i have in my wishlist because its only a matter of time before they're gone too, im just glad i got my voyager tanto xl while i could
Please dont put on a gas mask and start stabbing car hoods..i dont think anyone in the real world are stabbing car hoods and doors..keep it jimi slash
No gas masks, I promise. :)
Killing!!
Securex sheaths dull the edges of any coldsteel knives that I have. I've had to get custom sheaths made. Wish they'd return to leather or something that doesn't do that.
My problem with the new ones is that they switched from a flat grind to a hollow grind. Prettier, maybe, but I’d much rather have the effectiveness of the flat grind.Far as I’m concerned this is a step backwards.
I would ❤LOVE❤ to see HuuuuUUUUUgGggggGGGEeeeeeEee
SNAP CUTS !
Put that secondary tip to work!
If you could get a pork shoulder with the skin still on or something similar. Pool noodles, grass mats, sheets of cardboard glued to styrofoam (with cartoon disgraced politicians, not real ones fake ones I don’t want you getting banned) chop off the corners of phone books snap cut and stab into stacks of paper/styrofoam plates. You could use color markers on stacks of paper/paper plates to let the views guess how deep the snap cut or stab will go, like use a different color for every half centimeter. Go on a feral hog hunt and use one of the magnum tantos to dispatch the beast! Ballistics gel! Snap cut and stab into ballistics gel or ballistics heads/torsos!!! Zombiegoboom heads? Are they still a thing? Coconuts with red jello inside! Giant Fish! Cut up giant fish with them! Fight a polar bear to the death with one in each hand and scream “Are you not entertained!?” Put them together like scissors and pinch cut off a your rival gang leader’s head. Wait, you do have a rival gang right? I’d settle for partially frozen jello filled water balloons. Resistance slice pop. Cakes. Ridiculously tall cakes… yes see how fast you can slice super tall cakes. You have three magnum tantos? JuGgLe them! Snap cut flying oranges and bananas. 7 two liter bottles of all different color sodas! We deserve vengeance on soda! How about a collaboration with the CZcamsr “WeAllJuggleKnives” for charity(I am completely unaffiliated, just throwing out another knife enthusiast I like or the slingshot guy Joerge Sparve? also unaffiliated) contact StyroPyro and see if he could make a science experiment with his super lasers to test the sharpness of the knives (super unaffiliated). How many stacked fig newtons can be snap cut through? Tantojujitsu, how to with magnum tantos explained in twelve easy steps by a real sensei. How many illegal weed plants can be chopped down before being chased away by cartel members? Someone arranges three mystery boxes of equal size. One filled with an item you want, one an item you need, and one an item you hate. You have to randomly choose which box to chop up and win/lose what’s inside. Blindfolded cutting through expensive chocolates. If you cut cleanly through you get to eat it. If you miss or make a bad cut you have to donate the price to charity.
That’s all I can come up with right now. Good luck knife tuber!
