They actually wanted Jacoby to sing bring me to life back in 2002 while they were making the first album but he didn't respond so they got Paul McCoy from 12 stones to do the male vocals on bring me to life 🖤
I feel like this is incorrect as everything I’ve read about this song the band and especially Amy Lee herself, they didn’t want a rap part at all. But the record execs made them as that was the big thing at the time. But Amy Lee always hated it

@@Themaskplague oh I should of gave context they did not wanted the rap but after they compromise for it to just be bring me to life and David Hodges who was keyboardist and backing vocalist who was in evanescence from 1999 to 2002 he said In a hour long interview that after they compromise for bring me to life they thought about Mike from Linkin Park but he didn't respond then Jacoby from papa roach but didn't respond so producer Dave Fortman recommend Paul McCoy from 12 stones because they were on the same label and he produced them 🖤

It always warms my heart to see Amy giving love to people like Jacoby and Johnathan Davis from Korn and David from Disturbed and so many other, because they were part of that Nu Metal and early 2000s generation that still to this day is so relevant 🔥🔥
Evanescence is AMAZING live
This song originally came out when I was in my early 20s with Paul McCoy. After hearing this version with Jacoby Shaddix, despite Amy Lee's voice being clearly shot, I prefer Jacoby doing the male vocals.
Paul McCoy was the original guest vocalist on this song...

By the way... the girl bassist is nothing more than EMMA ANZAI, bassist and founder of Sick Puppies...she joined Evanescence a few years ago... the other 3 guys in Evanescence has been with Amy since 2006-2007... Troy McLawhorn and Tim McCord on guitar and Will Hunt on drums...they are currently writting their next album and hopefully next year we are gonna have more New music from Evanescence. They are a great band, you should guys check out some of their recent singles like "Better Without You" or "Yeah Right"

I was at this very festival in Germany last year, Rock am Ring... Tenacious D was there too, and they brought up Amy Lee to sing Kyle quit the band and Tenacious Lee with them 😅
Amy Lee is the queen! Evanescence library is deep. Keep them coming! ❤ The Sound of this video is terrible but love when we get to see them in concert.

I got to go to A LOT of concerts starting at an early age. Unfortunately I did end up losing my parents and sister from a car accident when I was 13. I luckily had good foster parents after that though

You got part of the facts right about the original version. Between when Fallen came out and the live performance, theres been several lineup changes and Amy Lee is the only original member. The co-singer on the original was from a band called 12 stones and was on the same record label as Evanescence. It was the record company's idea to add the male voice. The band Seether's lead singer and Amy were a couple, not any of the members of Evanescence and Amy.
Great drummer. He was 🔥 Would have liked jacoby in more parts of the song. Great ending with him.
I saw Papa Roach live a few times . Hes always good. He is goid begining to end. I saw Amy lee live a few times. She always starts out strong and by the end shes a little wiped out . I'm not upset about it . Her songs are big. Lol

Came here to recommend this. Wagakki Band is a wonderful blending of modern instruments with traditional Japanese wagakki instruments, specifically the shamisen, shakuhachi, and taiko. Amy Lee also sang one of Wagakki Band's songs in Japanese with them.

It was forced by the label to add the male part, they originally threat the band to have it on every song, but they rejected since it was just not really Evanescence, the label then retrieved all the support, money, studio time, and more... they were flown back to their hometown, after a couple weeks they called back and said they were gonna let them be without the male rapper full time but that they had a movie opportunity for a scene with a guy and a girl and that they did needed to have a feature on the first song and that it had to be Bring me to life which was the one that resonated with the people from the Daredevil movie producers.... Amy Lee agreed since they were gonna be able to fulfill to keep every right of all their other songs from their demos to the 14 songs recorded for Fallen their debut album.... Amy Lee did told them that she was the one who had to write the parts and how it was gonna be... she wrote the new parts for the male vocals and started to find someone to record them... at one point they thought of Jaccoby and also Mike Shinoda, Mike refused since he was in the same studio recording for Linkin Park... and then the label finally used Paul McCoy from 12 Stones, a band in the catalogue of the same record company Evanescence had, called Wind Up.... so at the end... originally it was not part of the song, then Amy added those parts and they released the song featuring Paul...
The song became part of the movie soundtrack and became an instant worldwide massive hit... Amy was afraid of ppl misunderstanding their sound, but gladly their next singles did amazingly great being Going Under and My Immortal and Everybody's Fool... all massive singles specially My Immortal... people understood the male parts were not gonna be in other songs and Evanescence mantained their sound intact....
On the first live tour they had a hired rythm guitarist and he was able to sing enough to do the parts live... but once the first tour ended, they never sang again the song with the guy parts... up until 2015 when Amy decided to start inviting Paul McCoy live on the shows nearby where Paul lived and in 2017 she decided to the rap part in the bridge by herself... and after a couple more years other male singers from differnet bands have been invited to step in to sing the part.... in 2022 it was P.O.D singer, then in 2023 it was Highly Suspect singer in some shows, and for the Rock am Ring... Jaccoby.
Two of my favorite bands came together to make a bad A$$ Song. That being said. I have many favorite bands, too many for a top three list.
