  • Introducing the all-new 2020 G6 SR Series, the most technologically advanced models ever of the world’s best-selling SR20, SR22 and SR22T piston aircraft. The highlight of the new model year is the introduction of the Cirrus Aircraft App powered by Cirrus IQ - providing a digital connection to the aircraft from virtually anywhere in the world. Further enhancements include re-imagined interior and exterior aesthetics, along with an optional 4-blade SR22T propeller from Hartzell.

    • @piper56m35
      @piper56m35 Před 4 lety +11

      well yeah, you should obviously still do a preflight check before every flight, regardless of an app that tells you your airplane's stats. However, the app could definitely be helpful to get a general idea of your oil level, fuel status, etc so you can notify the FBO before hand and a line guy can go out and fill up your tanks and add some more oil. Therefore, it can be a bit of a time saver.

    • @mitchellphillips7086
      @mitchellphillips7086 Před 4 lety +8

      As someone why also loves retracts, the Cirrus has good reason for keeping their gear fixed. Look at how aerodynamic it is, compared to something like a Bonanza, yet, the Cirrus is faster with less horsepower. Not having retracts saves weight, and a whole lot of money in training, insurance, and maintenance. Read "Free Flight" if you're interested in why Cirrus made the design choices it made.

    • @gbigsangle3044
      @gbigsangle3044 Před 4 lety +1

      @@mitchellphillips7086 Good points. Carbon fiber has proven it's merits by now...but there are other fixed gear designs. And there are classes of aircraft that cannot avoid retractable gear, like a light or heavier jet. Also jetprops need them as their cruising speeds are far higher than anything in the piston classes.

GA is alive because of 50 year old airframes being flown by those of us who love what we do. Cirrus pricing is ludicrous, they lose their value mentally fast too. We need companies providing good, 4 seater options that are comfortable and safe, and not priced at almost the same cost as a small jet.

      @@breadkrumbs2515 That was bad, rushed design and neglect on behalf of Boeing to train the pilots in the use of the anti-dive system.
      Jet airliners have been ran by more computers and auto-pilots for longer than any Cirrus could ever dream of, yet short of errors made one one plane, jet airliners are MUCH safer than general aviation planes - the numbers speak for themselves.
      It's rarely the technology that is the problem, its the pilots lack of knowledge about the technology.
      Frankly, The pilot, as long as he or she knows how to operate the technology, can spend more time monitoring systems and ensuring safety if they are not constantly eyeing 6 gauges and trying to keep a plane within 3 axis of movement. It's very easy in an older general aviation plane to get overwhelmed, and overwhelmed pilots can spell a disaster.
