Yea I don’t know what their waiting for, even Tecnam uses electronic ignition. There’s been so many engine failures in these planes it’s embarrassing. If they said the new engine doesn’t have vacuum pumps, mixture control or mags I would be impressed. Mike Patey probably feel asleep watching this, seeing them brag about things that should been done years ago.
Diamond still refuses to put in ballistic parachutes, and the “electronic parachute” (DA-40) won’t help occupants much if there’s a structural failure, mid-air, pilot incapacitation with PAX on board etc. Now, SR 22 FADEC G7 would be a big deal!
For me the airplane keeps getting improved. As a 2018 G6 owner and operator, the small changes matter. The speed increase up to 9 KTAS makes a significant difference. Going a bit faster and cheaper, it does add up. In my 600 hours on my G6 a 5 knot increase would have meant an additional 3000NM of free flying. Now that’s a big deal!!! Also the baggage door opening wider and holding is also a BIG deal. What a tiny thing that makes a huge difference on a windy day when you need 3 hands to load your heavy baggage but the wind closes your door or the wind keeps banging it open, you start appreciating these little things. Now the paint, that’s just options for the buyer…
I love the Cirrus, I'm an original owner of an older one, but where is the G7? I feel it has been minor touch ups for years as they continue building the Vision Jet. Where is the FADEC like the Diamond DA50? For nearly $1.25 MM there needs to be a bit more than some minor fairings added to the wheel pants and smoothing of the goopy TKS panel that should have been taken care of years ago. This is really coming to the cost of the pressurized Piper M350 Full Sized Cabin 6 Seater New Aircraft at the same price. Hard choice, but the extra room and pressurization kinda beats the bells and whistles (and awesome colors) (although I love it) on the new G6.

The SR series continues to be a very desirable airplane. This though was a huge letdown, not because the things you introduced aren't welcome changes but, the way you painted this out to be. You put out a promo a day before with the caption "THE BEST CIRRUS WE'VE EVER MADE". Again, the changes are welcome but they didn't need to be anything more than a simple press release saying something like "Changes for 2022". This is literally something I expect from Apple but not Cirrus. Just taking the same product, talk and talk about USB ports and colors then act and pretend it's the most innovative thing ever. The cinematography was spot on but as someone else said, this was more about skiing than an actual airplane. We know you can do better than putting out things like this.
Actually, the speed increase alone is quite noteworthy. To me, that was the most significant change. A 300 hp compression ignition engine, or a weight trim of 50 kg, would really get my attention.

Cirrus SR 22 is a beautiful aircraft. But in India we need aircrafts that use Jet A . Avgas is in short supply and expensive. Hope Cirrus listen to this
It is pretty obvious that Cirrus has run out of ideas on how to further improve this product. All we’re left with IMHO are a hideous new color palette and the never ending price hikes. Meh.
You’re right, DA-50 amazing and with a FADEC engine, but they REFUSE to put a ballistic parachute in! Sling TSIs (low and high wing versions) also amazing when fully optioned (incl. full glass Garmin suite and parachute) and come w a FADEC Rotax turbocharged engine (no mixture fiddling, no hot start prayers!). Pipistrel Panthera also upcoming but current commercially available version has a legacy engine, however it’s aerodynamically a masterpiece, and has a titanium link RG; hybrid version being tested. Exciting times.
They are getting like Apple. Lazy updates. Change the color, size, add what should have already been added that's not innovative, throw a camera change in there like Apple too while you're at it, and make an announcement like it's big. Could have just added these as options at checkout. Push the envelope and develop!
Lot's of good stuff! However, I did notice that the video cut away at the exact moments the actors were entering/exiting the cabin of the aircraft (1:36, 3:46, 5:03, 5:23). Does this mean one is required to step on those lovely leather seats? Please say it ain't so.
@@Mattblackaviation787 Yes, it's a legitimate competitor to the SR22 as is now and after certification I feel its only a matter of time before this shows up in sales data. Personally I prefer its design as well although Cirrus are incredible at this as well.
@@DerickMasai The ergonomics, stowage / luggage space and forward visibility in the SR22 superior to Panthera. Panthera has the titanium-link RG and faster cruise. Both have ballistic para’s and legacy (non-FADEC) engines although recent Panthera flights with hybrid version and a fully electric version forthcoming. Panthera has demonstrated spin recovery ability.
Alpine Airpark - check. Fancy-schmancy SR22 with no REAL updates (FADEC, electric ignition, Continental CD300 engine) - check. Fancy PR video - check. Plane built solely for the rich - double check. Good luck trying to get a bicycle in the back. Some Cirrus pilots might sneer at the Saratoga's and Bonanza's of the world however, I guarantee both of those planes will carry more and bulkier items than the Cirrus.

this showed a snow trip rather than the new plane. all i found out was these ppl like skiing, they connect their phones with USB C and they can cruise 9 KTS faster with less drag... and paint u spent all that money on a horrible ad
Some ads are for selling to the niche customers, other for selling a lifestyle but both sell planes. Cirrus, in this ad, catered to those who seek a lifestyle which is their average customer.
Lol! What makes Tesla unique? ... their motor technology. Now look at the SR20/22; still using 50s technology engines, with hot starting problems, etc, etc. Until Cirrus put a Jet A FADEC engine into their piston aircraft, they are miles away from being the Tesla of aviation.
@@steventhompson4013 dunno how any aircraft could safely operate itself. if a fadec sr22 comes out im not getting it cuz I want as much manual control as possible. what you gonna do if fadec fails? but I get your point. on another note, if I buy a cirrus sr22 its gonna be g6 unless there's a way to override fadec in case of fadec failing. I use linux and I know what could go wrong possibly.

Same here! It's 2022! I guess a FADEC Cirrus requires re-certification, and I bet that costs a LOT of money and time.
