The intimate series is presented as a digital scrapbook documenting the recording sessions that made Noel Gallagher’s critically acclaimed recent studio album, ‘Council Skies’.
Filmed by Anais Gallagher at Noel’s own studio Lone Star Sound in North London, over 28 hours of footage were captured during the four-month recording process. The series was directed by Noel Gallagher, and edited by Jamie Carter, and each episode documents one month of the ‘Council Skies’ sessions through January, February, March and April 2022.

About Noel Gallagher:
Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of Oasis, one of the biggest and most loved bands ever to emerge from the UK. His band played a tremendous role in shaping and inspiring contemporary guitar music from the 1990’s onwards. Noel’s continued success with the High Flying Birds cements his position as one of the most prolific and successful British songwriters of the last 50 years.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds first emerged in 2011 with their eponymous album released in October of that year. The album went double platinum in the UK and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The release of the debut album was supported by a touring schedule covering 150 live shows in 32 countries.
This was followed by ‘Chasing Yesterday’, released in March 2015 - the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel, with 122 further shows in 28 countries.
A third album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, was recorded in sessions spanning 2 years with renowned producer and composer David Holmes in Belfast and London released in November 2017.
There followed a series of multi-genre EPs released over the course of 2019 and 2020, all receiving high critical acclaim.
June 2021 saw the release of ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ - a Best Of celebrating a decade of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This was the bands 4th consecutive Number 1 album and the 12th Number 1 album across Noel’s career. 2021 also saw Noel named as Record Store Day’s official ambassador.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds played Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage in June 2022, delivering a career-spanning set to one of the weekend’s biggest crowds. The show was the culmination of a summer of acclaimed sold-out outdoor venues across the UK.
Fast forward to 2023 and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are looking ahead to their much anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Council Skies’, due for release 2nd June. From the evocative album title to the cover art, to the lyrics themselves, ‘Council Skies’ sees Noel Gallagher bringing a more personal perspective, reclaiming his past and paying homage to his Mancunian roots. His most varied and accomplished solo record to date, Noel’s new album is a record framed by confidence, risk-taking, surefooted creative freedom, and great emotional depth.
The first singles taken from the album - ‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘Easy Now’ - were met with a hail of critical and commercial success by fans and media alike. ‘Pretty Boy’ has also been remixed by The Cure’s Robert Smith, taking the track to a new spaced-out dimension.

This was cool. Get Anais on the payroll permanently to document all future albums. Very interesting to know how it was all put together and how much effort went into each part, making sure arrangement not too busy etc. I didn't realise Mike contributed those ambient parts to DTTW.
What I like is that no matter if you've sold millions of records or none at all, recording an album seems to be more or less the same process for everyone
@@OrgaNik_Music
LOL Noel's dry humor makes even the desert jealous. It's cool to see how clear Noel's ideas are and how he has his stuff under control
Noel: Builds recording studio… records entire album in control room.
This just makes me want to hear the original demos even more! C'mon Noel, put 'em out there for us!
The guitar solo with the red gibson fuck! It's impressive, Noel putting those missing pieces into his songs, watching him work is truly unique.
Hes a genius,i went to see liam a week ago on the definitely maybe tour, all classics that he wrote, and he is still writing great tunes 30 years later, hes up there with the greatest song writers ever.
Been following this series over the past month. Noel has this whole thing rolling round his head..... every chord, note & sound already clear. The process is to get what he's hearing down on "tape". Just brilliant......master at work.
This documentary has been a treat to watch. I hope Noel does this for every subsequent recording.
These have been amazing to watch. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Noel at work like this? I had no idea that so much went into each track in terms of the building of the melody and background vocals etc. I’ve been listening to Council Skies over and over trying to pick out all the bits I’ve seen during this series. Well done Anais for putting it all together!
Totally agree and it makes people more aware of an artists work. Most fans have no idea what goes into making an album.
If Noel’s songwriting process is like fishing, the music itself seems to be like putting several puzzles together. Great work, Anais, Noel & friends! 🐐🎶🇬🇧🎸👑
Noel's voice is the best it's ever been and is still getting better. Genius at work :)
Having Noel for 3/4 of my life has made it a great life!!
Amazing work never stops. All Time Great!! 🎉
These videos of the recording sessions are absolutely amazing. I’m hearing guitars parts that my ears have never heard in these songs before and I’ve listened to them a thousand times. Will be hearing all new and wonderful things in them all over again now. A real treat for the fans. Thank you Anais. Wish there were videos for all of Noel’s old sessions. Hopefully Anais does this for all of Noel’s future stuff 👌🏻
Loving these videos, shows how much work goes into an album and who doesn’t want to see Noel being his usual hilarious self. Probably not the space to say but I wish him and his brother made up and just spoke to each other especially for the sake of their families they’re missing out on so much with each other, only mentioning because of personal experience. Anyway wow keep up the great work. Loads of love ❤️👍🏼
Good to know that professional musicians also sometimes go " the du du du bit, that bits good" when in the studio...
At least Noel is self aware to know that his own phone doesn't recognize him as a smiley happy person, Liam would get a kick out of that
These have been great to watch! It's fascinating to see what goes into making an album and the people behind them. Anais has done a top job - more vids like this in the future would be top.
Just happy to see this new episode ❤️ and a little sad that it's the last one. Just thank Noel and his entire team and especially Anís who filmed all this for us. Many many thank you ❤️
The last episode 😢 I NEED MORE!!
Surely me too
Can't believe it's over already
Maybe a Bonus Track 😭😭
thank you anaissssssss
just cant fkn get enough of these.
i have to admit i was keener to what liam was producing on a single by single basis, but council skies has easily become one of my all time favourite albums. i just loved the sound of it and couldnt stop singing the melodies. now that ive sseen how much love went into it i can see why.
Noel, the Pep Guardiola of song writing! Getting performances from all the artists he’s invited on and putting them in the right places.
But then in the analogy he’s a player manager coming on to score winners too! So he’s better than Pep!
16:56 This part when the melody is slowly forming is so magical. ❤️
17:29 But Noel wants ice cream 😁❤️
I’m honestly loving and enjoying this so much!
I enjoyed watching this docu series. It was interesting and I loved seeing Noel with The engineers and of course Johnny Marr too! This was very intimate and I love that we were invited. This goes to show everyone- if they didn’t already know- all the dedication, long hours, thought and talent that goes into making beautiful music and songs. Thank you Anais! You surely have a talent and thank you Noel.❤️🥰 I saw your concert in NY at Central Park’s Summerstage and I wasn’t disappointed in the least! We all loved it you and your band sounded great. Looking forward to seeing you next time around:-) 🌟🎶🌟🌻❤️
You were invited where sorry
These were great and interesting documentary. I hope we are gonna have another documentary for next rock album!!! I really like to see how this genius is cooking in his own studio.
I've always been a fan and I always knew I had the same approaches as NG in regards to the creative experience whilst recording.
Are you a musician? I'm a talented vocalist always on the lookout for guitarists especially and I have the same musical approach as NG in terms of singing too.
Yes i am. NG is a massive hero of mine @valeriamollica5294
Having watched these, I wonder how it feels for Noel to write the songs, coming from a personal place, then in some way having to detach from that to record everything for them in the studio, then when it comes to do the promo for the album a year later, having to talk about where the songs came from and that be in that headspace again… from a songwriting point of view at least it’s fascinating to get this sort of insight here.
I gree . I love this docu, it allowed us to be part of the process in a very simple and magical way. Waiting week after week I almost felt like I was sitting there on the couch. The composition and every minute detail is so Wow. 👏🏻👏🏻
Very good observation. Well, it must be both a tiring, overwhelming but unparalleled majestic feeling only we artists really know about.
Ive enjoyed each part so far and I hope as Im typing this Anais, is filming Noel and crew recording the next album right now!
Some awesome guitar tones going on here...
I would love a live concert from this tour with the documentary in full released on Bluray/DVD!🙏🏻🎧
Thank you ! Stangeboy and Callum, better way to begin an episode !
I NEED MORE!!!
WE NEED BONUS TRACK!!!!
Haha WE WANT MORE!
20:03 The keyboard is blowing my mind. I haven't fully noticed those notes and now they feel so magical 😯👌🏻🔥👍🏻
Keep’em coming mate! Love it.
Think Of A Number с 1.40 является образцом музыкальности, как такое можно было сочинить? Когда я услышал первый раз Think Of A Number сидя в машине, почувствовал невесомость. Анаис, береги отца, он нужен не только тебе, нас миллионы по всему миру.
This is so awesome
Id love to have been in that studio throwing ideas around with Noel. My dream is to do exactly this.
Another great vid. 👍
great stuff - we want more episodes!
This looks amazing well done Noel ❤
I could watch hours of this. Love it!
C est intéressant de voir toute cette préparation et la manière dont l album se construit.
Noel’s vocals man 👌🏻
thanks a lot! It's always interesting to look into the kitchen of the restaurant where your favorite dish is prepared!
Love this ❤
Weve got to get more kf these videos for future albums or tours or whatever. Its really interesting to see the whole process
Excelente!! ❤
BRILLIANT! THANKS! CHEERS! ByJD
Isn't this Part 4??? I think part 3 is missing...
Fuckin love these videos! Such a nice work environment. Man i miss being in the studio.
I loved Seeing Noelly play so much guitar. I think Gem is superb, but Mr. Gallagher is just as good as he was when he used to play lead for That other band he was in.....❤...and his singing is better than its every sounded.
LOVE
It's f*ckin' great to see these songs come to life.
Ahoj 😊 , pěkný den ...
I keep seeing these on another CZcams account before they get posted here. Why is that?
If you subscribe to ngfc you get them all
What's playing from 28:00 isn't on the Council Skies album, I think it's one of the songs that was supposed to be on the acoustic album, which has been trashed for now
Yeah nice track wouldve been!
Nobody in the comments seems to realise that it’s actualy a banger
@@trungtinnguyen2857Noel said that during the Covid period he had so much time that he composed about 30 songs, 10 of them are on Council Skies, 10 would be acoustic and 10 would be stadium rock (the so-called defiant rock album that he would like to release soon), now I the doubt arose whether the song he was playing had a rock aspect or whether it was part of the acoustic album he wanted to release... we'll only find out by living!
Gem!
Loved the series though a little sad to see Noel wanting to “just loop it” so often. All around great insight into his current process though
I think in this context they're looping a part of the track to continuously get takes. Then they chose the best one.
@@rlxts yeah in some parts but in other parts definitely just getting one bit and looping it thru the song. Either way I would have expected more live stuff. Not to say it’s bad
Come on people. Don't be lazy and leave your Like and comment on this wonderful video 🤎✌🏻
13:42 slide away solo vibes
Mike at work ❤
Jesus, Noel at 7:00, absolutely epic
This perfectly documents why no one should ever compare Liam's "songwriting" to Noel's ever again.
Liams a singer and he made noel a *lot* of money
@@DH-TV through songs that noel wrote 🤣
Liams voice was incredible in the 90's,noel would admit that he couldn't of sang them better than liam back then. The stars aligned they needed each other, without either oasis would never have existed
Let’s give Liam credit for I’m Outta Time eh? A great Oasis song. Noel is THE songwriter of his generation, no doubt about it. There is no need to praise one Gallagher by slagging off the other.
Both Liam and Noel played their parts for Oasis and they became what they are because of each other. Now they are both very successful as solo artists and as a fan from the start I’m happy to support them both. Their personal differences are their business.
sound recordist/ engineers , must be bored out of their minds, god bless each and everyone.
21:34 I can see this moment over and over again 😆❤️
Hearing some awesome Arturia soft synths :)
"just fooking looped"
Would love to know how they're getting some of these guitar tones. Sounds so good.
This is part 4 ?
When he said goodbye and walked off sounded like someone was going to say f off then realized his daughter was still there
Also Gem was loving it at 10.20
❤
Calls out swearing, a second later he is swearing!! LOL
I've seen all four parts, with this one out most recently (according to the NGFC emails), so not sure how this is billed as part three here. Where is the mysterious fourth part now?!
This is part 4, for some reason they have uploaded this before part 3
@@Aptmusicukahh that's why got it now so they swapped numbers
Which model is the fender cream strat looking guitar
Fender Player Lead Series, I guess…kind of affordable guitar, I was looking for a strat, but I think Noel convinced me to buy this model. Anyway not with that pauferro fretboard, I'm demanding (and I have no money)
LOL
It's looks like a best album for England to provide each home for locals and give back bastards from the land, keep it only best people with a true story i think - i'm also music man but now i work at build my home
5:48 Relatable 😭😂🙄
He's not human.
Отличный музыкант
You ain't going to get these "making of" vids from Liam's camp .. because it's a few Americans on computers handing Warners the finished songs for their approval
Good to know that its not just me that goes "that du du du bit, play that again" in the studio,
They are recording lead parts with a 700$ guitar (Fender Lead III), you don´t need extremely expensive equipment to create music.
What’s the song at 28:37 ?
I also wrote this in a previous comment. It's definitely not a Council Skies track, keep in mind that Noel said that during the Covid period he wrote about 30 songs of which 10 are on the Council Skies album, 10 are acoustic and 10 are stadium rock (or defiant rock, like he said).
The only doubt I have is whether this "unreleased" track is acoustic or whether it evolves into a rock song, given that the next album will not be the acoustic one but the rock one.
Who is the guitarist with the glasses
Slash
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ이거 재밌네
20:37 okeey 🤭🤭
0:00 mmm
I've got a question for anyone who cares to answer. Why does Gem hold the guitar like that😂
🫶🏻🩵
g.d
it's a shame that all those cool parts were practically buried in the final mixes... INCLUDING THE JOHNNY MARR PARTS... so sad... could have been a FAR better record, showcasing all the beauty from his songwriting, only if it had shown all the beautiful rough edges that only a nice stripped back mix could reveal...
Oasis reunion Brother
Get the good singer back
i'm not happy with this!
i want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its all so Noel - hes so lazy. "get a good one and fuck it just loop it"
I don’t mind that, this is how he does his albums and song writing. One bit a time. Not live takes, I think they did it once on an early Oasis song, but ever since it’s always been like this.
BUT then they practise hard for the tour and it’s absolutely magical. That’s not looped!
Better have this than nothing, but I confirm my disappointment over 4 episodes. I understand Noel writes and rehearses new songs mostly at home but this was 90% tiny overdubs here and there with no coherence nor interest at all. Finally we got some vocals towards the end, but it would have been nice to see some main takes for the most interesting songs of the album. No need for a 4 part video when typical edited making of with highlights can be far more interesting for the fans
Overated mickey mouse
loop it! Thx Noel!
