-I just want to say that I still use custom ring tones in 2024 ... or more specifically, I use a special ring tone for work related calls versus all other calls. I never stopped doing that. I feel old

@@SumitRana-life314 If you have an iPhone, there should be a ringtone option in plain view when you click on individual contact profiles. I just double checked this. You can absolutely just pick a sound file on your iPhone & make it a ringtone just like you can do for alarms

If youre a fan of this series, I HIGHLY recommend Exordia by Seth Dickinson. Its a post 911 scifi book about a Kurdish woman whose people were massacred by Saddam's regime. She now lives in new york and meets an alien named Ssrin in central park. The first 30pgs are weird as hell, but then a massive global attack happens from Ssrin's alien enemies in orbit. Thats when the book gets good.
2 frenemy military guys find Anna and bring her back to Kurdistan for an operation to find this resurfaced alien artifact that Ssrin and the other aliens are looking for.
It has great Jeff Vandermeer vibes a lot like Annihilation. The alien artifact-Blackbird-has extremely strange effects on everything around it. It studies everything in its vicinity, but in doing so, it changes things in weird and terrifying ways, including people. It Unmakes things, and we see a man turned into a human centipede as his limbs subdivide again and again, for example.
The book is wild.
Im a huge Seth Dickinson fan. His Traitor/Monster/Tyrant Baru Cormorant books are in my top 5 favs, so I was excited to see him venture into sci-fi.
I highly recommend his work.
It feels like SOMEONE didn’t do the reading… but they asked good questions nonetheless.

@@THEWHIPX1 Actually, Jessie is pretty open minded and believes that people can say something 'offensive' or 'wrong' but deserve respect and that people are nuanced and not black and white. The haters of Ellis I think were bullies.

Malazan Book of the Fallen is described by the author as a 3.5mil word plea for compassion. Its an incredible series. By far the best epic fantasy out there. I have reviews.

@@wisconsinengines It's soooo good. My second fav Tchaikovsky book. I've read pretty much all his books. Cage of Souls is my fav then Children of Time then House of Open Wounds even though I didn't love book 1 City of Last Chances
