Can we take a moment to appreciate Romeo's skills as a producer and arranger? Most of the time we are in awe of his skills as a guitar player and songwriter, but his mixing style is severely underrated.
For sure! it's 10/10
Also his guitar tone is Unique and amazing since the Divine wings era
I honestly find the drum mix pretty underwhelming, at this point. Despite the similar sound, it lacks a bit of the "oompf" of Iconoclast imo.
@@SyX512 His solo tone has always been amazing, especially in TDWOT. His riff sound on that album was also fantastic.
The guitar sound in The Odyssey proved how superb his technique is. Making such a scooped tone still sound clean and defined.
I think his last albums are mixed by the amazing Simone Mularoni guitarplayer and producer of DGM.

Dino may have the best decision Romeo has made. He sounds fucking incredible and fits Romeo’s style as good as anything I have heard
I sadly disagree... Don't get me wrong Dino is one of the best singers there is. But I always get the feeling his influences are too dominant. Concerning this new album I'd rather hear his former singer Rick Castellano... But I think that is a matter of taste....
@@macblade7247 Rick did a great job, but dude seriously, listen to this track again, you wanna say he is channeling his influences, fine, but his influences are apparently the best singers in metal, I'll take that every day of the week, and I look at this as a 2 part epic, so play them together and you get the best of both worlds
@@kamikazekrush3758 I perfectly understand you. And I I know exactly what you mean. But I think Castellano did something fresh and pronounced a voice not yet heard. Where Dino let us hear a voice already done. Again don't get me wrong, I think it is a great song and I will defenately set this upcoming album on repeat. I think it is a matter of taste.
@@macblade7247 OK, I understand you as well, Rick was a different type voice, the last track on the first CD "Constellations" really showed how good he was, it's one of my favorite Romeo tracks period, hopefully Rick will be heard more in the future, heck maybe Romeo will do a part 3 with this band and use Rick and Dino both? Lots of bands do the multiple vocalist thing nowdays

Patrolling the city during an alien invasion almost makes you wish for a Nuclear Winter. - NCR Ranger, probably.
In the absence of a new album from Symphony X or even any news about it, this is a piece of fresh air. Really cool vocals (reminds me a lot to Allen's) catchy riffs and melodies. Eager to listen to more.
I could have sworn that this was Russel Allen. Had to look it up to convince myself otherwise....

At first, I was really disappointed that Mike was using a new vocalist, but Dino sounds so reminiscent of Russell Allen that this feels and sounds almost like a Symphony X album. TAKE MY MONEY!

I don't know what 2022 has in store for us metal-wise, but this album with Mr Romeo and Mr Jelusick is going to be definitely among the very best releases of the year. It all sounds insanely good. Can´t wait to listen to the rest!!
This is so much in the style of Symphony X that I do not know why MJR wanted to make the solo albums in the first place. He in any way writes and produces the Symphony X stuff as well.
The solo albums have a different drummer, different bass player, no dedicated synth player, somewhat more elaborate orchestration etc. There's lots of overlap with SX but I think Michael Romeo is getting other players in to help him realise his vision in a timeous manner. Maybe Russell Allen, Mike LePond, Michael Pinella & Jason Rullo are not keeping up with his creative pace so MJR is finding other ways to release new material.

Now taking what you said in consideration, could it be that the Symphony X albums since Paradise have been in fact quite heavily MJR albums? So this solo project was long coming...
So perhaps what we need now is Symphony X where Pinella & CO heavily contribute? I'd love to go back to Divine Wings and V era.
His voice sounds great. However, his performance in Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall - "Hold Your Fire" was just beyond awesome. It sounds like a perfect mix between Russell Allen and Jorn Lande. I hope he comes back for another album with Romeo though.

A welcome surprise this morning. Romeo sounds inspired here, even his riffs are starting to sound like mini solos. Dude is on a whole different level. Dino sounds great on vocals, that solo was sick and the brief orchestration at the end of this has me patiently waiting for more.

Pretty much in the line of the 1st part, which is bloody good news: killer riffs and a strong sense of melody coupled with a kick ass voice! Loved the 1st one and this is looking promising!

Man, I've been waiting for this album since War of the Worlds Pt.1 which is 4 years now. I do have to strongly point out that I absolutely adored Rick, and mind you, not from the start. I slowly but fimly grew up into his representation and embraced the fact this is arguably the best piece of music released in last few years.
Now, learning that a fellow Croat made it into this one, and straight up wrote history by making it into the absolute elite of rock musicianship, and making a legend to his name made me feel so proud, man, and that's something I haven't felt in a very, very long time, my friend.
