#shredguitar #yngwiemalmsteen #michaelromeo #guitarbattle - Zábava
Romeo can do everything Yngwie can do. Not so much the other way around. Romeo isn't just a shredder. His composition skills are out of this world.
There wouldn't be Michael without Yngwie, don't forget It!
Its hard to pick between these two - they are both so great. Yngwie's Rising Force (debut solo album) is out of this world compositionally. Probably the best arrangements of his entire career. On par with Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn album imo.
romeo did what yngwie did, but yngwie paved the way, and the style of yngwie wins out;.
@@douglasbarroso5296and?
There wouldn’t be Yngwie if there wasn’t Richie Blackmore 🤣
@@erikthered1719 No, there
wouldn't be Yngwie without Paganini, Bach, and Hendrix!
🤣🤣🤣
Romeo has a wider variety of playing style. My vote is with him.
what?
Yngwie like violen melodic style
Yngwie is better for the first 10 seconds, but when you listen to all of their music....there's no comparison. Romeo's catalogue is beyond epic and he is the mastermind behind one of greatest bands in history.
Romeo clearly has the better range and variation. Doesn't help that the audio quality they used for Romeo was horrid compared to that they used for Yngwie. Whether that was intentional or not I dont know...
@@FatalMusa My guess is there's just not that many good quality vids from playing Romeo live around. Yngwie already had had a huge boost before he even started his career as a solo guitarist. Romeo came to prominence several years after those events, so he nurtured from players that came before him like Yngwie for sure (also Randy Rhoads was a huge influence on him, maybe second to none), and he took their skills to a WHOLE other level, but with less notoriety except for us, niche appreciators who happen to listen to him with Symphony X and fall in love with his guitar playing, composing, arranging, producing and his overall musical outpour. What a great time to be alive and being able to enjoy both of these Gods among men performing live here in Chile 🇨🇱❤️🎸
Michael romeo's father - yngwie 😂😂😂
Thats what she said
Along with EVH, Yngwie inspired pretty much every rock guitarist in the 80s...even Romeo. However, while Yngwie (and EVH) stagnated, Romeo took his playing to the astronomical level it is today.
Couldn't describe it any better 🔥
I'm 55. I grew up listening to Yngwie first. He's a great guitarist and I love the first album and the stuff he did with Alcatrazz. Marching Out was decent, I lost interest after Trilogy.
Michael Romeo produces, arranges, composes all of Symphony X's music. Other than the first album(no Rusell Allen) practically all of their albums are masterpeices. IMHO.
If you are only looking at guitar shredding then you are missing most of Michael Romeo's talent. He is also an amazing song writer and composer. He's written everything from catchy metal songs to 20 minute long prog epics, and even film score sounding stuff.
My vote goes to Michael Romeo. I think he has more variety of sounds and techniques. I love Yngwie but Michael Romeo is a master of all guitar techniques.
He's a beast of a player that's for sure, effortless! Thanks for watching!
And copied Yngwie, stlyle and image.
@@jacquesfinster5034 That's for sure too hahahahaha Yngwie is the original one
I'm for Romeo due to his variety of playing, style, and smoother sounds as well.
@@jacquesfinster5034he plays nothing like yngwie.
Yngwie: he plays every note like he means it. Not my favourite style of playing, but his feel is undeniable.
Ok guthrie
I have a thing for Yngwie’s playing. His aggressive picking and wide vibrato melts my face
Michael Romeo. He has all the speed of Yngwie without the ego and his solos have variety. I think Ynwie's start to sound the same after a while.
Romeo does what Yngwie does and has some innovative differences to it. Romeo has my vote
Gotta go with Yngwie. Despite his perfect technique he has some of the best vibrato out there. Some of my favorite moments in Yngwie's playing is when he just hits a sweet bend and holds it for a second
I don't mean to be argumentive but I don't understand why you said "despite his perfect technique" as if that should hurt it; vibrato is a technique.
@@flashraylaser157 it wasn't a way of saying anything bad about him at all. I mainly meant his picking technique. He has perfect right hand technique and really good vibrato
I prefer Romeo, only because of his composition skills. Not only a shredder, but a riff master too.
Yngwie is so good, but i prefer Roméo, in fact I love the symphony x band, just my opinion, kisses from France, Enjoy
Merci mon ami! Thanks for watching!
Romeo is hands down better. It's not even close. A better player, a better writer, a better composer. Period.
Yngwie for me,mind blowing when i first heard him, thanks.
I love Romeo in particular the "old Romeo" of the nineties but Yngwie is his father, and the father of all shredders !
Romeo is technical perfection
Romeo is great but Yngwie is the original. Yngwies playing just has this wild dymanic element to it, similar to Eddie on the first Van Halen album. Just something crazy about Yngwie that puts his playing over the top.
Probably always hungover, alway with a cigarette in his mouth! Thanks for watching!
No matter how fast he plays, Yngwie is always melodic.
I have the impression that Romeo plays purely and faster...but of course these are just nuances, because they both represent the highest level of play. Yngwie Malmseen creates very melodic songs, while Michael Romeo is perfectly flawless.
Just discovered your channel, that was a great video!
That said I have to go Romeo. Didn't need the videos though... His playing has influenced me a great deal.
When I pick up the guitar, after all this time, I often go to SX licks before a lot of other things. It works for warm-ups as well as just mindless fun or anything else. I love these guy's music.
Cheers from France! 🍻
Cheers Kevin! 🍻
you should make a compilation of the best masters of tapping technique, or a series of videos by genre, best power metal shredders, best thrash shredders and so on, love your content mate!
Good idea! Thanks for watching
Reb beach would win hands down
Yngwie or Romeo....
That's like asking a parent who's their favorite child.
I luv them both.
MR is the GOATest of the GOATs. 🤘
I used to watch videos like this back in 2009. Just has that vibe lol.
I dunno man. I've been an YM fan since the mid 80's. He was shredding before lots of these guys ever picked up their first guitar. He practically invented it. That being said, there's just something about the way MR's playing is just so effortless. Yngvie may have been the original, but I gotta give the nod to Michael. He's the shred king.
Far beyond the sun, nuff said
I'm no "shred" fan by any stretch, but after listening to this clip my vote goes to Romeo. They're both technical wizards, so they're both equals in that category. Michael Romeo, however, comes across as someone with more musical expression; he's more lyrical in his approach. That's just my opinion.
Michael Romeo once said in an interview that Malmsteen was untouchable. I like them both, however I only listen to the pre-2000s stuff of Yngwie, but still listen to the entire catalog of MR. As to which is better, it's like choosing who's your favorite kid.
yawn..all the newer guys give the previous guys props in interview..it's the professional courtesy, really Romeo knows he is wayyy better.
Yngwie! More articulated (stacatted) in this type of technique. Recognizable immediately without being seen. But Michael is a shred master too! Just another character
This is one choice I wouldn't want to make. Love from India. Yngwie and Romeo... They are too good.
I’ve been playing for close to 28 years so I didn’t start playing until the 90s but as a kid growing up in the 80s and remembering Malmsteen, he most definitely pioneered this neoclassical speed shred and I’ve never seen anyone else before him play these minor and harmonic minor scales like he does, making him this prodigy virtuoso Like NO OTHER before but subsequently inspired numerous players to drastically up their game. I think Romeo got this one.. fast smooth accurate and then some
The difference between them isn't their shred, but their overall musical abilities that's revealed in their music writing, in which Romeo is demonstrably superior. Don't really know that YM can't write just as well, only that in his decades long career he hasn't.
No donuts were hurt during the filming of this video.
I love both of them
Two of the greatest players ever. At this level there is no " even better'. Both are out of this world in guitar terms.
My vote goes to Malmsteen. A bit more use of bends. On the other hand- Romeo was playing guitars without dots on the fretboard...
We're not worthy! We're not worthy!
Romeo winning on the poll so far .. 1 vote to 0 ... www.youtube.com/@facemelters/community thanks for watching!
Playing without dots on the fretboard is easier than it seems. You still got the side dots
I like both, but Symphony X is much more interesting to listen to. I have the first Yngwie alnum wich is good. And as a swede you should be proud of Yngwie. Btw the Marshall YJM is great, got the chance to play it once. As I got an SL drive that goes into my Engl fireball I can have the flavor of both guitarists sound😊
michael romeo, obviously, the variety and the technique
Yngwie in 83-89 is hard to beat, so I'd say he wins if we compare the peaks. His playing in Alcatrazz might be the greatest shredding of all time.
But Romeo has a better discography overall and a greater variety of styles. Romeo's solo in Egypt is one of the all-time greats.
I must confess that i grew up and learning the guitar wth yngwie but Romeo....Romeo is different....i never get bored of leaning from him.
Even he is more clean in his perfonmances and plays
My vote goles to Michael
Romeo. 🔥🔥🔥
Romeo plz.
Yngwie is the Sun, Michael is the Moon. Both are great.
Told ya, it was CC DeVille...
If it wasnt for Yngwie influence a lot of shredders woudnt exist. Ive learned, studied, and played alot of Malmsteens music but i have found extradinary writing in Romeos playing. I just recently got on that band wagon. I am split between both, I love and appretiate everyrhing they both bring to music !! 🤘🤘🔥
Yngwie is the best !!!
Romeo's music sounds like its going somewhere, it takes you on a journey like a song sound do. Malmsteen just sounds like hes playing the same pattern all over the guitar and it gets boring after 3 minutes in
it's like a new ford GT vs the old ford gt40... one was the innovator, the other continued the legacy.
Prime Yngwie, from the times of Jeff Scott Soto and Joe Lynn Turner was indeed one of the greatest guitar players in history, but he was more balanced playing with the left and right side of the brain back then. Yet, there is absolutely no way to compare his other phases with Michael Romeo, which is the GOAT (greatest of all times).
It's like comparing the first Ferrari ever made with a Bugatti Chyron. Romeo is the evolution.
If we’re comparing shredding, this is a really difficult question. However, Romeo is a brilliant riff writer, and I’ve never heard Malmsteen play riffs anywhere near as good as him.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP round Shawn Lane vs Michael Romeo !!!
shawn lane is better technically but i think michael romeo has more musicality and better composition
Early pre car crash Yngwie in the mid 80’s was a Force Of Nature.
Now , not so much , but honestly I love both of their playing.
Both Romeo and Malmsteen are highly respected in the guitar community and have influenced countless guitarists worldwide. Ultimately, it's up to the listener to decide which guitarist they prefer based on their own taste in music and playing styles.
Well both are technical powerhouses but: one of them sounds like a majestic force of nature, the other one sounds like a kazoo.
Yngwie Rule's! Not Even A Contest!
Stunning guitarists, I grew up listening to Yngwie so guess I am biased. At this level it is down to taste. For me Yngwie has subtle differences that I find appealing. Michael Romeo is incredible and is wonderful to hear. There are so many wonderful musicians out there for us to enjoy, we are very fortunate to have so many masters of the guitar to learn from.
Yngwie has more feeling!
Technically, Romeo's a lot cleaner and more versatile a player. He really took that whole neoclassical thing to the next level. His rhythm playing is actually where it's at for me, though- Some of those Symphony x tunes just crush. Still mad props to Yngwie- gotta take his stuff in the context of what all else was going on at the time when he was hitting big. I mean, he brought that style to the masses- I don't think progressive metal would be what it is today without cats like Yngwie in the mix.
Romeo🤘
Romeo sigue evolucionando. Es el mejor
There is no comparison. They are two completely different approaches. Yngwie approaches things like a blues guitarist would. The guy worshipped Hendrix. Romeo is awesome but his solos are a little more on the robotic side. Not to say he doesn't have feel. But his phrasing is different. You can't really confuse one for the other. Once you hear them. It's obvious who is who. That being said. Both of them are awesome and I love their respective approaches. I'm still trying to learn the solo for Sea of Lies. It's a really awesome solo.
Both are amazing
Yngwie plays fast while keeping it melodious and full of attitude.. Romeo plays fast but it feels like somebody is practicing scales and a lesson.
Definitely YJM forever ❤
We must take a moment to recognize just how successful and impressive Malmsteen is DESPITE being severely handicapped by his inability to do anything outside of downward pickslanting. Likewise, take Andy James, a player who is the opposite (limited by his steadfast upward pickslanting). Both are killer players.
Romeo is free and can play anything these guys can, but they can't play what he can because of their limitations mentioned.
Yngwie tiene una expresividad bestial, me gusta màs en este ámbito
I mean, for me Yngwie is the main pilar for shredders. But Romeo is just a more modern, dynamic and a product of a new era
Team Yngwie for sure. The original!
They’re both interesting for about 30 seconds.
YM is a sentimental favorite. A pioneer of neo classical metal. Having said that I got to say; MR Has built on it, and taking it to another level. Got to give it to MR.
Romeo of course, a much more versatile musician and essential songwriter. Great vibe, unique phrasing (yngwie also has it) and also, great riffs.
Michael Romeo is the best because he has many different styles.
Respect to both Master Shredders 🎸But Yngwie is just more fun to watch! He brings a different energy when he plays!🤘🏼
Yngwie is the legend !!!
Yngwie will never pubicly utter the words, MIchael Romeo
Saya menyukai Yngwie.. Gitaris tercepat tdk pernah turun speed dalam bermain gitarnya.. Soundnya juga Yngwie sangat mengerikan suaranya.. Yngwie adalah inspirasi semua gitaris didunia..
Sometimes when I hear Romeo’s solos it sound like a keyboard. Malmsteen’s solos always sound like a GUITAR solo. Both are great shredders indeed, but I prefer Malmsteen because of his sound.
Both equally great in their own way. But just to vote on sheer signature sound...Yngwie is the man. No matter whos playing without seeing them you will always know its Yngwie playing. His sound is undeniable. Just my opinion
lousy comparison - because of the sound. michal romeo is at a clear disadvatane given the quality of the video clips used.
I watch one player and try to fathom what is going on, and then I watch another, and another...and soon I lose track of my opinion because with all these players I'm in pursuit of something, whether its boring or exciting, that if I get it, I also will melt faces, my way. 😃
You should have played Far beyond the Sun in E by Malmsteen playing live. Tom Lima video
There is something a lot of guys here aren't remebering, there wouldn't be Michael without Yngwie, don't forget It! My vote is for the precursor Yngwie Malmsteen!
Check out mike Varneys u.s. metal compilations and unsung guitar heroes. These were just before malmsteen came on the scene early 80s. Shrapnel records
Yngwie does next to no tapping and Michael is about 75-80% tapping here. It's not that Yngwie can't tap, he just chooses not to and still keeps up. On that alone, I will have to vote Yngwie here, even though I don't want to.
to point out my choice, i must say that i love symphony x. romeo shreds the power metal and prog metal scene. we all know that the people that we love, who shred prog/power are epic. however, yngwie malmsteen was from a previous era, and gave romeo a platform before he was baroquing and rolling. romeo wasn't shredding before symphony x, but yngwie was 10 years before. gotta give it to the malm.
Yngwie hands down
Yngwie is #1!
I will give a lot of respect to Yngwie for what he does & I take nothing away from him although I feel at times Ynwgie sounds like he forcing himself which to me sounds choppy especially having seen him perform. But I got to go with Michael being that his arranging in orchestrations along with the fact that he does play effortlessly & I got to say that his 2 handed tapping is absolutely insane. I'm going with Michael on this.
romeo has my vote, but both of them are amazing
You are not fair. You out there, go back and listen their albums and make your mind. And change it...
Romeo!
Can’t really compare the two. Yngwie is one of the founding hero’s of the Neo classical style, so without Yngwie, there probably wouldn’t be a M Romeo. That being said, Romeo has surpassed the master ages ago, with flawless technique, speed, and next level innovation. Romeo is Malmsteen 3.0
Malmsteen great yes or my Favorit player at long time is Michael Romeo I like him
Romeo VS Greg Howe...... muy interesante!!!! Romeo VS Vinnie Moore !!!!!
Romeo is a guitar boss but come on man...Yngwie is Don Vito Corleone.
Doesn’t matter who can play like who, Yngwie is the father of all shredders, romeo just did what’s been done already. Yngwie took shredding to another level, not to mention his unique tone. There simply will never be another Yngwie.
All I have to say is who is the original OG and who influenced Who.
As much as i admire and respect Michael Romeo, there's something about young Yngwie that is unmatcheable. For me Alcatraz's rising force's marching out's and trilogy's Yngwie is, alongside Guthrie Govan, the best guitar player i've ever listened in my whole life.
