  • Adding painted details and weathering to a diecast vehicle.
It's a challenge to find royalty-free music for these longer videos. So instead of music, enjoy the ambient sounds of our backyard. If you would prefer music, feel free to play your own favorites while you watch. :)

Fantastic, I need to that! I have several miniatures that are toylike and/or lost their "chrome". They could become much more realistic cars, thanks for the tips!

+Macfriendly IT Services A fairly busy Norfolk Southern railroad line is nearby, so NS provided the train sounds. :)

The occasional diesel horn in the background was a nice touch...how did you get them to blow on cue? Ha. But seriously, thanks for the tip of the snipped q-tip. I can use that to clean wheel treads on metal wheels with thinner.

+ocalicreek It was nice of Norfolk Southern railroad to provide the diesel horn music. :)

Nice job. 1 suggestion, as I remember those bumps on the rear fenders were black rubber stone guards. I always thought they must be hard to clean.

on the stripe at the front of the hood,it's better to pull the brush away from the point where the tape meets.Take it for what it's worth, from an old pinstriped. The paint won't bleed under the tape

Would you use a 1mm Chrome coloured Molotow pen instead in the future or do you think the results are better with paint ?
Lovely job by the way - I especially liked the trick of getting the windows dirty except where the wipers go.... brilliant !

For some reason my brain initially registered "Fun With Diecast" as "Fun with a Dentist".
And mentioning acrylics becoming a bit darker as they dry brings to mind that I've occasionally encountered some colors, and from several manufacturers, which can darken, and sometimes dramatically, when gloss coated.

I don't like 1/64 scale, it's too small, yet 1/43 scale is too big. Am I the only person who wants to start a collectable car company that manufactures autos somewhere around the 1/51 scale?
