    Many thanks for this tutorial, I have just done it on a Baja Bug SCX24 body and I am amazed. easy to make and above all the result is perfect 👍😉

    The results are very impressive. Rust works best when it is still quite subtle and it is possible to easily overdo it and add too much corrosion. As a finisher, I'd mask off the sweep of the wipers and use a thin layer of TS-71 Smoke on the windscreen to replicate dust.

    I love hard bodies ot combines two of my hobbies model car building and rc racing and rc cars period. I lovey carpet rc pval and road course 1/10 scale stuff but also love my true scale realistic crawlers and hot rods that look as scale as you can get them with hard body or styrene bodies and all the 3d printing parts

    I like the white clean body but this is interesting. Looks like a lot of work, but the payoff is worth it. I was thinking more of a weathering kit designed for models, but this adds the 3D effect you mentioned of the rust coming through the paint. Well done.

    Fantastic video - just wondering would a used electric toothbrush give the same result or would that over do it and end up like you’re using an electric sander🤔, just wondering as I hate scrubbing and always looking for an easier way to do this sort of thing😂

    • @ChinaExpatsRC
      @ChinaExpatsRC  Před rokem +1

      You could do the oil in the panel lines before clear coating. The only reason I did it in that order was I was planning to add more rust effects and I wanted to protect the work I had already done. But in the end I didn't like the additional rust effects so removed them with thinner.

      It depends on the model.. I've just gotten a Yikong Bronco & I'm going to try to keep it as clean as possible..
      But I've weathered other RCs, usually an older body style like my 1970s F-150,I've rusted, primered spots & dented that one.

    Wtf.... hairspray is not chipping
    Acrylic rustolium used.

    • @ChinaExpatsRC
      @ChinaExpatsRC  Před rokem +1

      It takes a lot of water and rubbing at first. You need the water to penetrate through the paint layer.

    • @brappineau4161
      @brappineau4161 Před rokem

      @ChinaExpatsRC spent about 40min with a heavy duty plastic brush. Tried my plastic chisel to get it started. Solid bond. Maybe the hairspray was too good (dried 24hrs - used regular hold)... maybe I didn't use a thick enough later. Maybe it needs clear coat prior so paint doesn't bond.

    • @ChinaExpatsRC
      @ChinaExpatsRC  Před rokem +1

      @@brappineau4161 is rustolium a really thick paint? Can you scratch some paint away? You need to get water to touch the hairspray layer so it starts disolving and shedding the paint as it does.

    • @brappineau4161
      @brappineau4161 Před rokem

      @@ChinaExpatsRC it is thick. I intentionally used a razor to remove top layer paint to expedite the process and still could not chip it. Perhaps enamel would be better than acylic.

  • @alantaylor353
    @alantaylor353 Před rokem

    If you didn't clear coat it, it would continue to chip as you drove it..?

    • @ChinaExpatsRC
      @ChinaExpatsRC  Před rokem

      Any big scratch is likely to go all the way through to the plastic even if you clear coat it. You can touch those up with more brown rust paint though.
