This week’s tutorial is a Triple Play! The Doan Girls are giving you three new quilts based on the 54-40 or Fight block.
Where in the world has Jenny been? Today, she gives us an update on all of her adventures from across the pond. She had a blast!
What’s next for Jenny? There’s a Doan Girls retreat August 20-23, Garden of Quilts September 11-14, and then Birthday Bash September 18-21! And soon after Birthday Bash, Jenny’s next adventure begins.

Jenny, I live in the UK and this year was the first time I went to the Birmingham festival of quilts, specifically to meet you at the Trunk show , you were incredible, funny, inspiring, a natural teacher. You taught me how to quilt through your CZcams tutorials and so my thank you to you was long overdue, you are one of a kind, I can’t thank you enough ❤
I’ve been watching you for years and I’m so happy you have expanded your channel to include Tuesday news day videos! Thanks for all you do!!!❤❤❤❤
MSQC is such a gift to us quilters, and Jenny is the bow on the top. Thank goodness I found you years ago.❤❤❤
Another great place to stay is the Days Inn, Cameron Missouri, which is only a 10 minute drive to Hamilton. I’ve stayed there 4 times for each visit to Missouri Star. They serve the most wonderful breakfasts and always kind and courteous.
I lived in Tooele, UT for 5 years and loved the Garden of Quilts show. It brought me peace and happiness. I miss it.
Just rolled into Quilt Town USA, and yes, it is cold & rainy. But that won't stop me from shopping. Did you know there is an RV park a few blocks from Main Street? Super sad that we will miss the Doan Girls retreat by a few days, but happy to be here and check out the fabric in person. Thank you for sharing about England. We lived there for 6 years and I could picture where you had your adventures! PS, I took my first quilting class in England in the mid 90's. I was overwhelmed and put it aside, never to finish. Then I stumbled on one of your earliest tutorials - thank you for giving me the courage to quilt! With the burden of perfection lifted (finished is better than perfect), I have many, many quilts made and gifted. I had no idea what I was missing until you shared your gift with the world!
I’m so glad I tuned in to see your cute adorable quilty dress, your wool yarn creations and your embroidery blocks. They were all so delightful. Such creativity, Jenny.
All the places you mention are on my beat, i live in the Cotswolds and go regularly to London. If I had spotted you !!! What a thrill. I’m afraid I’d have approached you to say hello, in spite of being intrusive and bad manners. So glad you loved being here.

I loved watching your video about your trip. You make EVERYTHING you do fun and wonderful. I am just finishing my Ingrid's Garden hand embroidery that I purchased from MSQC. It has been so much fun back doing hand embroidery. Mine isn't perfect but I love it. My husband is in a nursing home ...everytime I visit I bring my Ingrid's Garden tin with me and work on them. I have only one more to go...I am then goingi to enter it into our annual Falling Leaf Quilt Show here in Lakeport, CA. It would b e great if there were more hand embroidery project from MSQC coming down the pike.

High Tea is more of an early dinner; it is a hot meal including chops or other meat, and veg.
Afternoon Tea is the one with the three-tier stand, bottom up: sandwiches; scones w/ cream n jam and/or buttered tea-cakes; fancy cakes/patisserie - and, of course, a bottomless pot of tea!! Glad you enjoyed yourselves!!

Hi Jenny, I’m so glad you had a good time here in the UK! I’ve only been to the Birmingham quilt show once and found it to be overwhelming 🙂. The smaller shows are easier to handle. The Cotswolds are just so beautiful. It’s very interesting to see the UK from an outside perspective. I hope you’ll come again some day 🙂
I have been to Europe many times and I am always impressed how things that are old are not torn down but refurbished and loved. We were in London for the Queen’s 50 year celebration and it was so awesome!

Sticky toffee pudding! Whenever we’re in England we make a point of having sticky toffee pudding at as many places possible. It’s an effort (wink, wink) to find the best one in England. We’ll be there in September, so the search continues. A dirty job, but we’re up to the task.

Welcome back! You inspired me to try to sew some dresses from the African fabric. I couldn’t find the Simplicity pattern but I found two patterns I’m using. I’ll need to plan to attend a Doan girl retreat when you get back from your mission. I agree your comment about fences, I would love to have stone fence to surround my someday retirement home.
You have me hooked on embroidery now. I'm embroidering dish towels for Christmas gifts this year.
Me too. So glad to hear someone else is critical of their satin stitch. My mother’s was so perfect & mine always looks wonky. I’ll have to try to remember that the selected stitches are just suggestions & it’s ok to change them.

After last year’s quilt festival in Birmingham I requested that they invited you over and they did! I felt so lucky to meet you in one of the aisles on the Thursday morning and you were gracious enough to have a selfie with me and sign my quilting log book:) I saw your trunk show on Thursday which I thoroughly enjoyed and then your Q and A on Sunday. It was such a treat to meet you (and so sorry to have missed Natalie and Misty:( ) I have learned so much from all your tutorials and even if it’s not a quilt I will make, I still love watching and listening to you all! I’m also enjoying your new book:) Thank you for sharing yourself with us all. Good luck with your new adventures x

I love Sticky Toffee Pudding! Covenant Gardens in London is such a fun shopping experience. Last year my sister in law , my best friend and I went on tour to the Festival of Quilts, the Cotswold’s, Stratford UponAvon, Bath and London. The entire group were quilters and we had private classes. Watching your videos brought back wonderful memories!

Jenny, welcome home. What did you enjoy the most? And where were the best fabric stores? How did there prices compare to those here in Missouri? I understand about the fences, I feel cozy when I have fences with a large lawn around me. It is like a cozy favorite quilt.

Jenny, I love your embroidery blocks! They remind me so much of a quilt I made from embroidery blocks that my mother made when she was 8 and 9. She was born in 1919, so it was a few years ago. In her late 60’s, I took the blocks and made a quilt for her. Her’s were on muslin that her grandmother brought home from the cotton mill where she worked. The flower designs came from a newspaper. Yours and Ron’s felted blocks are very pretty! Your trip sounds like you had a lot of fun! So glad you are home safe! Will you be cooking lamb and shearing sheep next?

The pics of you & Ron with the felting project-so fun & they both came out just great! What an unusual way to get the fibers felted. Your embroidered blocks-I think they can be whatever color you want them to be!

Hi Jenny! I'm enjoying your newsday offerings and wish I could get over there for the Doan Girls retreat, but I went back to work. Love my crafting at home, but we have a farm in the boonies and miss being around other folks. I am going to try and attend the Gee Bend Airing of the Quilts Festival in Boykin, Alabama, Saturday, October 12, 2024. Have you heard about it? Hoping to get to your downtown complex soon too and maybe get the chance to meet you! We're approx. the same age and I too have lost a LOT of weight. Take care and GOD bless!

I always look forward to your Tuesday. I will miss it when you go to Africa? My mom could do beautiful, crocheted work she made me several pillowcases, and my mom is gone now and I treasure d them I have done some but not very good but it will get better

Are you able to share the name of the company that you did the tour group with? Or where you did the classes? I used to go to the UK every year until COVID and I’m trying to get back there next year.
When will you have another triple play book. I do so enjoy mine and visit it often.
