    Awesome video on the greatest legion of all. Iron within, iron without, iron shake it all about!
    For maximum levels of disgusting, put a master of signals with the lysatra trait in a unit of 10 iron Havocs with lascannons. 20 shots a turn, rerolling misses to minimise gets hot, plus up to 30 lascannon shots returned at whatever tries to shoot them.
    I usually like a more narrative game, but this unit seems fun for the games where I'm up against Dorn and Sigismund at 2000pts...

      @user-is3ku4tg9onahnotgonna Před 22 dny

      @@derryburns8968 I know the comments a year old but the answer is that the master of signal has a cognis signum making the unit BS6 which allows you to reroll ones and if you roll a 6 then its hit rather than a miss.

    Great video, but I want to add some of my thoughts.
    For Tyrant of the Lyssatra:
    1. You may still make the Interceptor reaction.
    2. Your close combat independent character doesn't have to be the warlord. Just take an Armistos or Master of Signal with this trait and give the unit he joins an additional point BS. So Tyrant Siege for example hit on 2+. The CC IC not being the warlord also has the advantage to give the victory point for slaying him less likely, because (in my experience at least) CC character survive less often than characters staying in the back.
    Graviton Wepons:
    It's a shame, the Graviton Maul is so much worse than the regular Gravis Power Fist, especially as you have to pay 15 points for the Upgrade. Against other Dreadnoughts you make more than 25% less life point losses (after saves). And Even against vehicles you mostly don't even need to compare the Chainfist. Against AV 14 you half the chance of penetrating hits. You quadruple your glance chance against AV 14 (2 to 5, instead of 4) and give the bot a 67% higher chance to make the Land Raider loose a hull point (5/6 instead of 1/2). But if the Land Raider has survived until the Contemptor is in Close Combat, something went pretty wrong beforehand I think. Except you took the Drop Pod Assault and put the Dreadnought into an Kharybdis - oh wait, that's not possible, because the model has to start the game in the dedicated Transport it must take (Dreadnought Drop Pod or Dreadclaw) which both don't have Assault Vehicle. So there's no way for an arriving Contemptor to charge at the same turn he arrives, because without the Drop Pod Assault, the Assault Vehicle rule states that it doesn't allow charging in the turn of arriving from reserve.
    Shrapnel Weapons:
    I think they should have either the shorter range OR the additional point costs, not both. But perhaps I underestimate Pinning too much.
    Why didn't you cover the Legion specific Rites of War?

    A couple notes -
    - The special reaction, I'd like point out that the best way to use it is on units that are about to get wiped. I keep it in reserve for high value targets or high value units that the enemy is bound to go after. It is incredibly dangerous with the Iron Havocs unit from the PDF releases.
    - 'Gets hot' doesn't affect Iron Warrior units with Shrapnel weapons too much. They get re-rolls of 1s when shooting under the Hammer of Olympia RoW. Makes it really useful especially with Tyrant of Lyssatra.
    Thanks for covering this, its good to hear things that reinforce my analysis of how to play my army.

    I really like this 3rd trait on a smaller games Vigilator joinging 10 Man sniper team. Cool interaction and nice Opportunity for iron warriors snipers models. I would make em with some kind of big ass black powder guns xd

      Thats a good point, and I'd say the trait is generally good on any weapon with Breaching but unfortunately there are few of those weapons available outside of plasma.

    Now you're talking my language. I just finished assembling a 2000 point all infantry IW army (I'm waiting for plastic tanks to come out).
    I included a single 10-man Assault Squad and I felt like I was doing something Heretical by including them in my army.
    Cheers for the post.

    As a new player, I went with IW as my first choice and doubled down on the robotic elements by picking Brothers in Iron for my Warlord..... I just wish it would get clarified whether Shrapnel could be applied to combi/twin-bolters..... Current opinion seems that it cant, which would make most sense.

    • @Exotac
      @Exotac Před rokem

      It can be applied to twin-linked bolters, because twin-linked weapons are just single weapons, twice. IE, you can change Twin Linked Heavy Bolters into shrapnel because it's just two Heavy Bolters. But you can't change Combi-Bolters, because they do not have a Bolter profile.
      Which is a bit scuffed because RAW you can apply Shrapnel to the Bolter profile of a Combi since it's just a Bolter, but you can't if two bolters (combi-bolter) are slapped together because they count as their own separate kind of bolter rather than a normal bolter doubled.

  • @Fireclaws10
    @Fireclaws10 Před 2 lety

    Man that Legion traits is incredible, lucky that IH players get -1 on shooting so it balances out for us. However we still get vehicles mulched. I think vs that advanced reaction, as an opponent i'd be wanting to use some form of indirect fire unit to take out any unit with a large amount of powerful guns like a support squad, so there's no risk of being targeted. I've got a Sicaran Arcus that should work for that.
    The less focus on artillery except for that one rite of war is a minus because somewhat less fluffy, but still a very well done army. Guns down opponents, mulches their tanks and does not flinch, perfect for them.

      This is my question too. I've just started HH, but have painted an entire army (with as many models still to paint :) ) and have played a grand total of 1.5 games. The Fury of Olympia RoW when combined with the shrapnel bolters seems insane, and was hugely effective in the one full game I managed.

      From other review videos on the Traitor Legion book, both are extremely good, if expensive.

    One gripe with Shrapnel Weapons is that you can't give then in exchange of combi bolters and non dreadnought twin linked ones (like on a land raider) which is more of a annoyance than anything. I really hope they FAQ them in since I really see no reason for such option to not exist.

    I wish iron warriors were better against Dreadnoughts generally. It's true they are still one of the best factions to fight them it feels like a fairly marginal difference. I think the biggest shortfalls is their graviton weapons under perform except the graviton maul which is just a better power sword.
