Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we lay the tile in our bathroom just in time for Benoit and Vincent to return and help us install our first set of windows on the Hunter's Lodge! We get a new partnership for our wedding venue and they let us take a rental car for a test drive. Vincent brings his professional metal detector so we can try it our around the chateau and in the deepest point of our medieval dungeon!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!

Metal detection is actually quite heavilly regulated in France. Since you live on a chateau it would be considered a place of historical importance and you do need to ask authorisations and to be supervised by an archeologist.
Anything you find of high historical importance can be claimed by the state (legally you have to tell about anything you do find).
If you did none of that, this video is a legal proof of illegal activity, kind of driving at 200km/h on the road and putting it on youtube, maybe fun but illegal...

I can't begin to imagine what treasures the moat may hold. What a fun hobby! Also, It's nice to see the bathroom starting to come together. I feel your aches and pains though! My husband and I were working on our pool house bathroom just yesterday and it was hard getting out of bed this morning 😂

Metal detecting is so much fun! I live on the east coast of South Florida. After a hurricane, it's awesome to go metal detecting on the beach. Many things wash us from old ship wrecks, gold, coins, jewelry, etc!

@@TheBeauChateau Lots more tiling to do? Knee pads help so much (ones for gardening or for sports such as rollerblading). Save the knees!!!
Don't feel too bad Ian. A couple of months ago, I was detailing the interior & exterior of my Mini SUV, and almost every single freaking time that I leaned back into the back seats to clean, I whacked my head off the dang door frame! You can tell that I don't have to get in and out of the back usually lol. You'd have thought the added knots on my head would have given me some extra protection. But, alas, I think it just kept making my head slightly higher to ensure I'd keep banging it!!!!! uugghh. Felt like Charlie Brown, and the car was Lucy & the football! Hahahahaha!!!

Thank you! We only had about 15 minutes in the dungeon this time, but there is plenty more to search! We will also try using a very powerful magnet like a fishing line in the moat! 😄

Its amazing what you guys have found!! Imagine the little trinkets that could be around the old fountain and around the old garden beds you both uncovered and where you guys uncovered the terrace area and in the moat!! That place housed so many meetings and gatherings and was a bustling hive of activity everywhere. So many moments good and bad. So much history. Also many questions as to who dropped those items and why? Such great mysteries are always delicious 🥰🤣. Wonderful vlog. Always enjoying your guys content ❤❤❤❤❤

How exciting. We have watched The Curse Of Oak Island for many years, It is amazing as they have found artifacts from the Templars.
When you find these things you can imagine their history with their owners. It's a part of the chateau's Memories that surfaces. These stuffs talk about their past.

That looks a Fiat Spider! My mom ordered one from the factory in Italy in 1966 and had it shipped to New York in the summer of 1967. It was a red convertible with slanted front lights. Our family drove from Vancouver, BC,Canada to New York to pick it up. On the way back we went to Expo 1967 in Montreal. Fond memories.
It is a beautiful car! We could not stop smiling while cruising around our village… someday we hope to get something similar for ourselves! Ian prefers old American cars, but we both like this little Fiat 😊
