  • In this one we stay in historic Wigwam Village No. 2 in Cave City, Kentucky just outside of the Mammoth Cave National park. Part of a small 7 location chain this one is one of only 3 remaining. Built by Frank Redford in 1937 and equipped at the time with 15 Teepees for sleeping and a large one that served as a diner and gas station this particular location has been delighting guests who visit the national park for over 8 decades. They are made of steel, wood, and concrete and stucco and come as any other hotel room with either 1 or 2 beds. For many years it was in need of repairs and finally in 2020 a couple purchased the location and has since been renovating it in hopes to restore it to its original 1930s decor and glory. Although it’s called Wigwam Village No. 2 the structures are actually not wigwams at all but instead teepees. There is also a children’s play area and other items for recreation in the middle yard of the location. The owners expressed that the large teepee will one day be restored as well as a few remaining teepees that still need repairs.
If you ever find yourself in the area please stop by and check it out, and tell them MoonMan sent ya :)
