    Albert Pujols AKA The Machine is one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. His imposing presence struck fear into opponents. Pujols dominated the game for a decade to begin his 22 year career, and climbed many of the all-time leaderboards. Albert’s high average, prodigious power, and ability to limit strikeouts is what made him a special slugger. In addition to his offensive prowess, Pujols’s defense at first base was exceptional. When the stakes were the highest in the postseason, he played some of his best baseball. Off the field, Albert has made significant contributions through his charitable efforts. Today, we look back on his remarkable career.

    Yeah Pujols was a terror in that Red Cardinals uniform..all his HoF credentials come from being on one team..that’s insane..had he not had that injury bug from those wasted years in Anaheim..it’s a bummer..glad he came with the Dodgers even for a season..never gonna forget that he hit 2 bombs off his former Cards and then when he came back to Dodger Stadium and at our expense but when he hit his 700th HR, it gave me mega chills 🙏🏼🙏🏼💯💯 truly one of the best to do it at 1B and his bat 🐐 3 MVPs and twice lost to legendary seasons from Barry Bonds..if that doesn’t make him one of the best to do it, then idk 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @zendoargos4988 Před 5 měsíci

    As a Cardinals fan, watching the career of Pujols, him leaving for California, and then returning for one last incredible season was amazing.
    It's easy to say this about any player, but imagine if injuries hadn't slowed him down during his time with the Angels. Due to the problems with his feet and legs he didn't have the same drive that he'd had before. He may not have reached Bonds' career homerun total, but it is possible that he could have as 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021 were four of his lowest homerun total years and in 2013 he played less than 100 games due to injury. He hit a total of 109 homerunes in those 5 combined seasons or less than 22 per season. If you gave him his career average of 32 that's 10 more per season...50 more across those 5 years...that would put him in the 750's...with Bonds at 762...is it impossible to believe that had Pujols been healthy he could have reached a similar total to Bonds?
    People love Mike Trout and are amazed by him, and I am as well, but compare the careers of Pujols and Trout and the one area where Trout is superior to Pujols is in speed. Add to that the fact that Trout has been hindered by injury in his younger years while Pujols was fortunate to remain mostly healthy during his prime.
    Mike Trout may get healthy and go on to a legendary career, Albert Pujols had the legendary career and then suffered the injuries.

    Albert Pujols based upon his numbers with the Cardinals would have put him up there with Babe Ruth and Willie Mays as the greatest ever. I think the only thing about Albert slowing down due to injuries with the Angels and him leaving the Cards keeps Stan Musial as the Greatest Cardinals player ever with Bob Gibson pitching, Albert, and Hornsby next in line. With Albert the Cards may have also won the 2013 world series since he really played well in post season, but Carlos Beltran did have a good year and Albert was playing while hurting. . It was so exciting seeing Albert again play like the young Albert in STL the last two months of the season in 2022 with the countdown to 700 homers. It also healed some wounds from when he left for the wealth of the large TV market of L.A. (Anaheim) similar to the NFL for the big bucks but I cannot blame him for doing so. Cardinal fans are reminded by ownership that despite averaging over 3 million fans a year, the St. Louis market cannot compete with the big bucks of the L.A. TV market. His large contract would have been a mistake for St. Louis. Good review of his career. He also seems like a very special person.

      I don't think the giants come back from 3games to 1 either , which in hindsight , in my opinion the cards lost out on at least 1ws and another appearance with a possible.3 in a row. They should have paid him no matter if played another game after that's the kind of team legacy you pay top dollar for, and I will always stand by that after the losing to the giants first thing I angrily blurted out was "wouldn't happen if Albert was here" and like you I thought the same thing after losing to the Red Sox

      @@danzemacabre8899 What I do not though is the financial impact doing so would have affected rounding out a good over-all team of players and pitching. This is an advantage of a city in a large TV market. As much as I was disappointed the NFL allowed the Rams to move to L.A. or at least not also award STL an expansion team for the new stadium STL was wanting to build, it is a business and Stan Kroenke had the large wealth to be able to first build in the very expensive L.A. market, but by doing his wealth has really increased from the Rams value now. The Cards did make an offer but were outbid. Nobody would have known at the time his injuries but he did still keep hitting homers. I understand what you mean about 2013 and the Giants.
