- Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing an evolution glider challenge! We have 2 minutes to build a glider from scratch, and then see which one flies the farthest. Then we will have 1 minute to take the winning glider and modify it, and repeat! Whoever can make better modifications will win the round! The first to 3 wins is the victor!

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

As an aviation nerd Kan's first glider was just *painful* to bear witness to. There's a reason the rear wings on aircraft are called horizontal *stabilizers*

@@XShadowCatzX Unless it's something like a modern fighter jet where the entire horizontal stabilizer moves, only the flap on the rear edge of it is called an elevator. The same applies to rudders and vertical stabilizers.

Ahh yes as you can see the vehiculus glidus in its natural habitat as they compete for dominance over each other.
They challenge each other for the mating ground in the ocean.
And they use whats around them to help get the better advantage.
In this episode what you see is a rare phenomenon because you see three subspecies fighting against eachother.
This phenomenon is called Multiplayer gathering.
And is rarely observed on a day other then a monday morning.
The three colors represent a subspecies
Vehiculus flapus is the green colored one.
Vehiculus speedus is the yellow colored one
and Vehiculus glidus the red colored one.
Each of them posses unique traits such as speed, hight and wing span allowing them to gain the upper hand in the race for the breeding ground.
Hmm yes what a great race car it even has the fly feature.

In the round before this, he got the Diabetus, as he said. I don't know what he was referencing or what, but it's funny nonetheless.
Idea 1: Wall rider evolution. Idea 2: Defect Evolution Race, like the Evolution Race but before the race you can change (add, remove, or move) one thing from the other vehicles. So with 3 players, everyone gets 2 genetic defects per evolution.

So glad I found this! I sorta copied Scrapman's initial design but I added Suspension springs to all of the wheels to be able to survive an impact; it helped me to reach a couple of new areas in the Stranded campaign, still not sure HOW I'm going to get the stupid Go-kart seat since I can't get past the damn lava though, but this saved me when I was stuck unable to reach anything on certain islands that are unreachable from the sea/land!

but, then you would need more space for the detatchers = less engines, more weight weighing it down before it jumps because of the detatchers, etc.

Try "Tank Evolution Challenge". The rules are:
One small cannon only, and no other gadgets (Dynamite, wall dispensers, etc.)
Three power cores to start, and three extra each round.
Once the time is up, it's a free for all battle to the DEATH!
Last person standing (Or flying, there are no rules against that...) wins. (You can decide what counts as "Standing" in this case)

Try a Evolution race where everyone choses a same-powercore-same-type of vehicel from the workshop and then the winner's vehicle gets modified and so on...
Forget the Evolution, now I wanna see you guys make vehicles that fly just by flapping wings lol. Don't even know if that would work.

I believe evolutionary rotorcraft could be fun. Rotorcraft, by definition, are rotary-wing aircraft, like helicopters, autogyros (which have motor-less rotors, but stay in the air due to forward thrust), gyrodynes (VTOL helicopters), or rotor kites (motor-less rotorcraft, kind of like a parachute made from a helicopter). Instead of just power cores, it's the amount of blades you can have. Start with 4, then 8, and finally, 16. Rotorcraft are difficult to manufacture, so you could start with 6 minutes. With rotorcraft, there are endless amounts of challenges, so you could decide. Just a suggestion, but I think it could be cool.

Yes definitely, but I think without a copy function like here in Trailmakers, they're gonna need a lot more time doing this in Scrap Mechanic.

You’re always competing for the first place, but what about trying to lose
For example trying to glide the shortest distance, drive the slowest speed/time, break your vehicle the fastest

Technically scrap man broke the rules a few times by testing his vehicle

To make a more accurate, but extremely chaotic ruleset.
The first & second place cars are saved.
Each player must create what they believe to be a car that's roughly the average between the two, using only parts from those cars.
Then when finished, you are allowed to add, remove, or replace ONE piece in any way you choose.
For higher stakes have it so each player can choose to make another single piece change to another player's vehicle. This extra piece can be good, bad, just depends. Make it random if you're feeling extra chaotic.

Maybe do an ai revolution video in scrap mechanic, for example a self-driving robot that needs to follow a line on the floor.

Y'all should do some more with gliders and drag cars. Maybe you guys could even do an endurance challenge where you build a car that can do the most destructive course/get the farthest. Hard on suspensions, and maybe smaller objects just to mess them up

I'd love to see this again but you evolve your own vehicles. So if you lose you don't get the winning vehicle, you have to evolve to beat it. loving the content tho, been binging it for afew weeks now.

Triathlon, like the evolution race but you add your build time together cumulative. You have to build a vehicle that can mange 3 different challenges. You can stop to build at anytime and that is added to your total time for the challenge.
Well you build like the hair and speed off making small adjustments at each new section or build like the tortus and take time to build the vehicle that can do it all?
